NEW data reveals the significant savings UK drivers could enjoy by switching to an electric motor – with the cost of some of the country's best road trips being remarkably low in an EV.
Experts at OVO have calculated that nine of the UK's top 10 most popular road trips cost under £3 in an EV.

Even long routes like the North Coast 500 come in £54 cheaper than petrol - when factoring in one home and one public charge.
Ahead of the May bank holiday, many Brits are likely musing with the idea of a sunny spring road trip.
In a recent survey, it comes as no surprise that the Lake District and Peak District claimed the top two spots on the list, while the breathtaking Jurassic Coast – stretching majestically from East Dorset to Devon – secured third place.
Their data also found that Brits' top motivations for getting out on the open road were to soak up the surrounding scenery (40%), discovering parts of the UK not seen before (38%), and the desire to feel a sense of freedom and adventure (37%).
Yet while 50% of drivers are planning to hit the roads for either a road trip or staycation, only a third (33%) of those will get behind the wheel of an electric or hybrid set of wheels .
Indeed, the majority (63%) will drive gas-guzzling cars - which can cost substantially more.
Ovo's findings are perhaps not as surprising as how motorists can save up to 88% on their travel costs by swapping to an EV, with charging at home on a cheaper EV rate a great way to save money.

Alex Thwaites, Director of EV at OVO, said: 'The issues that plagued EV drivers five years ago are being tackled by improved tech and charging infrastructure.

One in three Brits are determined to enjoy their picnic regardless of the weather, even if it means eating sandwiches in the car or beneath an umbrella. Research involving 2,000 adults showed that for 20 per cent, the unpredictability of the weather brings a touch of 'excitement' to their al fresco dining adventure. The research discovered that the typical Brit enjoys three picnics each year, but frequently expect it to be disrupted by the weather. "We'll still lay out the blanket, unpack the homemade sandwich, break off some chocolate and make the best of it, as the study shows, and that sense of British comfort hits a little harder when so many of our go-to picnic treats come from brands that are part of Britain's heritage too." The study also revealed that more than half of Brits are more likely to purchase food and beverages when they know these products are manufactured in Britain, with one-third routinely examining the packaging to confirm its origin before making a purchase. The main reasons for purchasing British products focus on product quality, strengthening the economy and backing local jobs. A spokesperson for Nestlé commented to say: "It just proves that for many of us, summer picnics are about feeling connected - to our favourite memories, our national quirks and everything the British summer season has to offer. "What makes those moments even more special is the familiar food and drink that brings it all together. There's a real sense of pride in choosing British-made products that have been part of our summer traditions for generations. "Many of the treats we reach for in those moments are made right here in Britain – something the research shows us people are especially proud of.

Vauxhall are to use the platform to show off the new Corsa GSE Vision - which is set to debut at the Munich Motor Show in September before being available to drive and race in the game. But while most concept cars are bizarre and, in some cases, a little silly, this one truly serves as a vision of the all-new Vauxhall Corsa supermini that's due to arrive in 2027. This bold look is simply the car's potential high-performance GSE iteration and takes the form of a three-door hatchback with quite a few extravagant design elements. That includes staggered 21 and 22-inch wheels within huge wheelarches and the 'Vizor' design at the front, as well as new lighting to create a cross-like design. Naturally, for a souped up concept design, there's also an outrageous air intake and bonnet vent, as well as a roof-mounted wing and enormous rear diffuser. The rear sees a clean and simple glazed tail that leads into an illuminated Vauxhall badge and a lightbar. The cabin is also rather futuristic and purely conceptual, with a yoke-style steering wheel and a head-up display, including back-lit fabrics for driver information such as blind-spot warnings. Powered by electric, of course, the concept boasts impressive performance details with two electric motors - each producing 400bhp - to combine for 800bhp and 800Nm of torque. It's also extremely lightweight at 1,170kg, enabling acceleration from 0 to 62mph in just two seconds with an eye-popping top speed of 199mph. The new Vauxhall electric Mokka GSE has some serious rally vibes… and it's closely related to speedy GTI Mark Adams, Vauxhall's chief designer, explained the concept's role in introducing the GSE brand. He told Auto Express: 'We wanted to build this because introducing the GSE brand in the right way, it was important to put the vision here first. 'But it then happens that following hot on the heels of this is a real first production car. "It's not exactly the same as this, but then it's the first of several to come.' While the dual-motor layout is purely conceptual, the car uses the Stellantis SLTA-S platform, set to underpin superminis and SUVs. A production GSE Corsa is expected - but will likely feature a single-motor front-wheel-drive layout, much like its label-mate the Peugeot 208 GTi.
