Earth Day cleanup at The PLACE
The PLACE serves roughly 400-500 youth experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Since its funding goes toward supporting the kids, things like cleanup and landscaping often require volunteers. The work done on Earth Day will allow them to host barbecues, pickup basketball games, and more in their courtyard throughout the summer. 'The age range that we can serve is 15 to 21. So, if you can imagine teenagers, young adults, all in one space together all the time… this courtyard becomes their respite from being stuck inside, and it is springtime; it's time for a regeneration,' said Becky Treece, The PLACE's CEO. 'So, having ENT here to help us clean up and get ready for this space to be utilized in the spring, summer, and fall, is really going to help the youth have that new energy as well.'

'Young people who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness have suffered some form of trauma. You don't end up homeless under the age of 25 without having experienced something significant,' said Treece. 'So we're doing our best to come alongside them, and meet them where they're at, and figure out what their needs are, and do our best to connect them with the resources they need on their own journey.'
