NBC Sports ready to capture Liverpool's celebration of Premier League title
Rebecca Lowe expects to be in the happiest place on earth on Sunday afternoon.
Lowe and NBC's Premier League studio crew will be at Anfield for the final day of the season as Liverpool gets to lift the championship trophy after facing Crystal Palace.
It is Liverpool's second Premier League title but the first it will be able to celebrate in front of a sold out crowd. Liverpool won the championship in 2020, but the joy was muted as it celebrated in front of only a couple hundred fans due to COVID-19 crowd controls.
'I think Anfield might be the happiest spot to be maybe anywhere in the world,' Lowe said earlier this week. 'This is a moment for a generation. I know there are going to be men and women in their 30s and 40s who've never seen Liverpool lift the top flight of English football, and that is why this Sunday is so special for these fans.'
Liverpool has had the title wrapped up since late April, making the final match day of the season mostly meaningless after the championship went down to the final minute the past couple years.
Even with the three relegation spots decided, the only drama remaining is which clubs will get the final three auto qualifying spots for the Champions League. Manchester City, Newcastle, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest are separated by just three points.
Even the Crystal Palace supporters making the trip to Liverpool are going to be in a celebratory mood after it won the FA Cup last Saturday for the first time with a 1-0 victory over Manchester City.
Lowe, who grew up rooting for Crystal Palace, was in London last week for the FA Cup final.

Liverpool was not considered among the Premier League championship favorites going into the season. Arne Slot came in as manager after Juergen Klopp resigned after being at the club over eight years and leading them to the title in 2020.
'If anybody back in August would have picked Liverpool to win the league, they would have been laughed out of town,' said Lowe, who has hosted NBC's coverage since it started carrying the Premier League in 2013. 'Arne walks into this massive club, succeeding a massive figure and character and then pretty much walks his way to the Premier League trophy. I think it's been a combination of excellent coaching, a very good squad that he inherited and very few injuries.'
NBC Sports wraps up its 12th season by showing all 10 'Championship Sunday' matches beginning at 11 a.m. EDT. NBC has the Liverpool match while USA Network, CNBC, SYFY, Telemundo, Universo and Peacock will also have other matchups.

Trutch denied the existence of Inidegnous rights and reduced the size of reserve lands, the city website says, and the politician is now 'acknowledged as being openly racist and hostile to First Nation Peoples.' The difference in the new proposal would be that šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmasəm will be the street's sole official name. 'In accordance with xʷməθkʷəy̓əm wishes, the legal name of the street will be solely šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmasəm Street, making this Vancouver's first street named in hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓,' the city report says. Club World Cup: Jack Grealish left out of Man City squad
MIAMI (AP) — Jack Grealish has been left out of Manchester City's squad for the Club World Cup. City manager Pep Guardiola named a 27-man squad for the tournament, which kicks off in Miami on Saturday, with Grealish a notable omission. The England forward was a British record signing when he moved to City from Aston Villa for 100 million pounds ($139 million then) in 2021 and went on to help the club win three Premier League titles, the Champions League and a host of other trophies. But he has become an increasingly peripheral figure and made only seven league starts last season. The 29-year-old Grealish's absence from the Club World Cup will add to the growing expectation that he will leave during the offseason, with Guardiola embarking on a squad rebuild following the team's first trophyless season in eight years. City's squad includes four new players signed in time to take part in the month-long tournament in the United States: Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Marcus Bettinelli. In January, City also spent big to sign Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis as Guardiola began his overhaul of a squad that saw its dominance of English soccer broken by Liverpool last season. If Grealish goes, he is likely to be one of a number of players to move on. Bayer Leverkusen signs promising young defender Axel Tape from PSG
LEVERKUSEN, Germany (AP) — Bayer Leverkusen has signed France youth international Axel Tape on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain's under-19 team. The 17-year-old Tape, a tall defender, signed a 'long-term' contract with Leverkusen, the Bundesliga club said Wednesday. 'Tape is a versatile defensive player, a good footballer with pace, athleticism, and well-developed game-intelligence,' Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes said. 'We see great potential in Axel, and signing him on a free transfer is an important building block in our future-oriented squad planning.' Tape helped PSG's under-19 team win the French championship last weekend. He made three appearances for the senior team. He was reportedly also a target for Eintracht Frankfurt and Tottenham Hotspur. Tape is the second promising young player Leverkusen has signed this offseason after the 19-year-old Ibrahim Maza from Hertha Berlin. The club is undergoing a shakeup of the squad following coach Xabi Alonso's departure to Real Madrid.
