Where celebrities eat and drink in New Orleans

Axios02-07-2025
New Orleans has the best food in the world. Seriously, Time Out gave us the official crown.
Why it matters: Everyone flocks here to eat and play, including celebrities like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Megan Thee Stallion, Mick Jagger and Gordon Ramsay.
Here are some of the restaurants they visit while in town.
The big picture: Dooky Chase's is the classic New Orleans restaurant that's been attracting famous faces for decades.
Martin Luther King Jr., Ray Charles, Duke Ellington, President Barack Obama, President George W. Bush, Oprah Winfrey, Beyoncé and Bob Dylan are a few of the high-profile customers.
The restaurant is known for its fried chicken, gumbo and Creole classics. It won a prestigious James Beard Award this year.
Dooky Chase's has a long history of helping the civil rights movement. And, the late chef Leah Chase is the inspiration for Disney's Princess Tiana.
Morrow Steak is the hot new celeb spot.
Since Larry Morrow opened the vibey downtown restaurant last year, he's been busy hosting VIPs like Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, LeToya Luckett-Coles, Gordon Ramsay and Kehlani.
The restaurant is known for its flaming tomahawk steak and purple ube cheesecake.
Morrow also owns Monday, Morrow's, Sun Chong and newly opened Spicy Mango, which are all popular destinations too.
Beyoncé
The queen's love for the city is well-documented.
She's been to The Munch Factory, Willa Jean, Muriel's, Cafe Amelie and Mother's, writes Axios' Chelsea Brasted.
She's been to Dooky Chase's too. And, she reportedly ordered 150 poboys from Parkway for her crew after a 2017 performance.
Taylor Swift
Swift made the most of her boyfriend's Super Bowl appearance this year.
She ate at Lilette and Gianna during her visit.
On previous trip, she ate at Saba and N7. Bywater Bakery made her birthday cake. Go deeper.
More celeb favorites
Emeril's: Martha Stewart and Sharon Osbourne have dined here.
Serena Williams had her wedding rehearsal dinner at Meril, one of his other restaurants in town.
Commander's Palace: Mick Jagger and Sandra Bullock have been spotted at this Garden District restaurant.
Eli Manning: This homegrown football player tells Southern Living he always has to get a poboy at Domilise's when he's in town.
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have eaten at N7 and Sylvain. Their double date at Sylvain? Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen.
Helen Mirren: Pal's Lounge.
"We love New Orleans," she told " The Kelly Clarkson Show." "It's kind of our second American home really. Love the town. Love the city. Love Pal's Lounge. It's the best bar in New Orleans."
Gordon Ramsay: While filming for the "Kitchen Nightmares" reboot, he ate his way through the city and posted about his meals.
Highlights include Dakar NOLA, L'il Dizzy's, Acamaya, Brennan's, St. Pizza, Hungry Eyes, Cochon and Parkway.
Lana Del Rey: Tic-Toc Café and Landry's. We're betting she's eating out here more than we realize now that she's married to a Louisianan.
Jude Law lived in New Orleans for several months. He was spotted eating at St. Pizza and Alma. He also shopped at Martin's Wine Cellar.
Glen Powell recently told Kelly Clarkson he hung out at Snake and Jake's with a urologist/magician who calls himself The Wiz.
The Killers ate at Atchafalaya when they were in town for Jazz Fest last year.
Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker got beignets at Cafe Du Monde during Super Bowl LIX.
President Joe Biden ate at Drago's in Metairie during a visit last year. It's a favorite of Steve Scalise too.
Keith Lee of TikTok fame has also eaten his way through the city. The sweet potato beignets at Monday were so good, he went back for another order.

Former Ohio State quarterback Will Howard discusses last six months while at ESPYs

To say that it's been a memorable and eventful last six months for former Ohio State quarterback Will Howard would be an understatement. Not only did he realize a couple of childhood dreams by winning a College Football Playoff national championship and by being selected in the NFL draft, but he also appeared on the red carpet at the ESPYs because the Buckeyes were nominated for "Team of the Year." And while OSU didn't win that award, he still got to rub elbows with American sports' royalty and experience all that comes from being a part of the festivities. One other thing Howard has been able to do is learn from future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers after he was signed to lead the Steelers this coming year. Howard -- all decked out in his best -- took some time while at the ESPYs to talk about those things and more while on the red carpet ahead of sitting in the audience in person to watch the annual sports awards show. As he always is, Howard was gracious and engaging in talking about a six-month whirlwind that will undoubtedly be unlike any other in his life. He reflected on his transfer to Ohio State, making a run to the national championship, and what it means to be mentored by Rodgers. You can catch all of his comments below, thanks to the ESPN College Football "X" account. It's unlikely that Howard will get much time under center in Pittsburgh this season, but as Rodgers moves on, if he can learn and make the most of the opportunity he has, maybe we can see him doing some of the same things he did for Ohio State for the Steelers in the near future. I wouldn't bet against him at this point. Contact/Follow us @BuckeyesWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Ohio State news, notes and opinion. Katy Perry Left Clinging to Flying Prop After Mid-Song Malfunction

Katy Perry is the latest touring pop star to be hit with a major prop malfunction while mid-song — and mid-air. Multiple fan videos from Perry's performance in San Francisco showed the singer nearly falling from a flying butterfly as it traversed the Chase Center. Perry was singing her 2013 hit 'Roar' Friday night when the prop appeared to tilt and drop, which prompted her to grab on to the cables and look up. Perry then waved to the crowd to indicate she was OK. 'Good Night San Fran,' she captioned the post. The malfunction comes weeks after Beyoncé experienced a similar moment of terror when the flying car she was traveling in during a Houston show began to tilt mid-air. Beyoncé paused the show and asked production to 'stop' repeatedly, before carrying on with the performance once the issue was resolved. The crowd cheered as the production crew attempted to rectify the situation. 'Thank you for your patience,' Beyoncé said. The car was eventually lowered to the floor level. Both the car and Beyoncé were harnessed to cables, and the singer was also seen gripping on to one as the crew navigated the situation. Katy Perry nearly plummets from floating butterfly as giant prop malfunctions during her show

First Beyoncé, now Katy Perry. The 'Part of Me' singer was in San Francisco on Friday night performing as part of her Lifetimes Tour, when a giant butterfly prop she was riding malfunctioned as it hung suspended over the crowd. As seen in several video clips shared by audience members on social media, Perry was in the midst of performing her 2013 hit 'Roar' at the Chase Center when the prop – on which Perry was rigged – jerked and dropped suddenly. Perry immediately stopped singing and managed to regain her balance and composure, at first looking up at the contraption that connected the butterfly to cables above. As the prop swung, Perry soon began performing the song again. CNN has reached out to representatives for Perry for comment. The near-mishap is at least the second such incident at a major tour this summer, after a flying car prop feratured in Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour tilted midair during a concert in Houston last month. The singer was quickly lowered down and without injury, according to Beyoncé's entertainment and management company at the time. Solve the daily Crossword
