Man's Dramatic Mexico Facelift Breaks The Internet
We recently covered 51-year-old Michelle Woods' incredible facelift transformation... Michelle got the work done in Guadalajara, Mexico, and was able to save herself tens of thousands of dollars. She has been documenting the journey on TikTok, where her story has become mega viral. So, it's no surprise that now a man who has also had a facelift with unbelievable results in Guadalajara is going viral. 56-year-old David Dickson got a facelift a little over a year ago, and this is what he looked like right before his surgery: And here he is after he healed: Again, here is David before: And here he is after: I think this goes without saying, but David's look stunned million of people. People were saying his results were so amazing, it reminded them of the '90s film Death Becomes Her, where the actors Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn drink a potion to regain their youth. On average, most people agreed that David looked about two decades younger. And some people thought he looked even younger! Either way, both his and Michelle's results have persuaded a lot of people to consider Mexico for plastic surgery. BuzzFeed spoke to David who said he had a lower facelift, a neck lift, upper blephroplasty, lower earlobe reduction, and a CO2 laser treatment. After his cousin had a successful stomach surgery in Mexico, David said was set on having his plastic surgery done there as well. "I had been searching for a surgeon in Mexico because I knew I couldn't afford one here in the States. I was familiar with the healthcare system in Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara and knew it wasn't as scary or antiquated as many people make it out to be. After interviewing several surgeons, I had narrowed my choices down to two in Guadalajara. During this process, I met a friend online who was also planning to use the same surgeon I finally decided on. We kept in touch as our surgery dates approached. After her surgery, she was in the recovery house and recommended I look up Dr. Maribel Belmontes Castillo, saying her work was impeccable. I took her advice, and the rest is history. I am so grateful for her recommendation." Dr. Belmontes Castillo is also the exact same surgeon Michelle from our previous article used. In fact, she joined a Facebook group David started about his plastic surgery journey in Guadalajara prior to getting her surgery. "She has credited the page to helping her along the way," he said. David said that after surgery, he had to stay in Guadalajara for 10 days to recover. Here is where some of his stitches were: And here he is in the days following his surgery: "I believe that anyone contemplating plastic surgery should take the time to explore their options and discuss experiences with others. During my research, I joined several Facebook groups, but while some were helpful, they didn't quite meet my needs. That is why I created my own Facebook group dedicated to past, present, and prospective patients, aiming to assist others embarking on this journey. I shared my travel experiences, surgery details, and recovery process, wanting to give an honest portrayal of the entire experience." "I frequently receive feedback about how beneficial the group has been and how it has eased many worries. A common sentiment expressed is that the surgery itself wasn't as daunting as expected, a sentiment I share as well. I experienced minimal pain, just some discomfort for around three days," he added. David told BuzzFeed that all of his cosmetic work and a one-night stay in the hospital cost around $9,000, and that includes his round-trip airfare from Atlanta. His meds, 10 days in a Guadalajara Recovery House with 24/7 care, meals, and postcare therapy (hyperbaric chambers, radiofrequency treatment, etc.) ended up costing around $5,000. So, in total, he spent around $14,000 for everything. That being said, David said that Dr. Belmontes' prices have increased quite a bit since her work has gone so viral on TikTok. Since going viral, David has had a lot of comments about his age. "Personally, I believe I could easily pass for someone in their mid-40s," he shared. And before his surgery, David also lost a lot of weight. "After losing 100 pounds, my goal was to achieve a look that more closely resembled my actual age. The excess skin sagging on me made me appear older than I truly was. I felt like I looked in my 60s before getting the lift. Now, when I gaze in the mirror, I feel more authentically myself than I did before." "Men, as we age, are fortunately now more focused on self-care, incorporating healthy diets, exercise routines, and even delving into facial skincare. Society is beginning to acknowledge this as a usual practice, not only for women but also for us men. I believe we should take charge of every facet of our well-being, and if that entails considering plastic surgery, whether minor or major, it's worth exploring. Advances in technology have come a long way, making the results barely perceptible. The overly tight and pulled-back appearance of the past is no longer the norm," David said. David is proof that the advances in plastic surgery procedures have come a long way — and that you don't need to be a wealthy celebrity to have great results. "It is amazing how much your self-confidence can be improved by a procedure that can be performed in a few hours. I know that for me, the reflection in the mirror did not match how I felt on the inside, but now it does," David concluded. Lastly, David said he hopes that sharing his experience helps men who are interested in plastic surgery become more comfortable with it. You can follow David on TikTok and Facebook.
