MediaTek announces the Dimensity 8450 with minor improvements
The Dimensity 8450 is still based on TSMC's second-generation 4nm node with an octa-core CPU with 1x Cortex-X4 core ticking at 3.25 GHz, 3x Cortex-A720 cores running at 3.0 GHz and 4x Cortex-A520 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz. The GPU is Mali-G720 MC7 with 7 cores and it's clocked at 1300 MHz. If it sounds familiar, that's because the Dimensity 8400 runs on the same exact hardware.
However, the newer chipset boasts gaming and ISP optimizations. The GPU, for instance, now uses the StarSpeed Engine, improving real-world gaming, while the improved ISP has live-stream optimizations. The ISP is capable of handling 320MP sensors with zero-lag HDR imaging. The NPU 880 receives some love too with Agentic AI Engine that allows support for on-device GenAI and LLM workloads.
Lastly, the Dimensity 8450's 5G modem gets a new power-saving feature, UltraSave 3.0+, to reduce energy consumption.
We should start seeing the chip appear in upper mid-range phones in the following weeks and months.

Realme 15T purportedly spotted on Geekbench, here's the chipset powering it
Realme made the 15 and 15 Pro official last month, and now it seems like it's working on a third member to add to the family - the 15T. This has allegedly been spotted in the Geekbench database today, according to a tipster over on X. If this is in fact the 15T, then it has the model number RMX5111. As you can see, it managed a single-core score of 806 and a multi-core score of 1,989 in Geekbench 6.4 for Android. The Realme 15T is powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 6400 Max SoC, paired with 8GB of RAM in the prototype that ran the benchmark, but other options might be offered too. It ran Android 15, which means the final product might also come with that version of the OS unfortunately, even though Android 16 was released by Google in June. It's unclear when we should expect the Realme 15T to become official, but it probably won't take very long. Stay tuned. Realme 15 5G Realme 15 Pro 5G Via

vivo is already teasing the Y500
Vlad, 18 August 2025 Today, vivo has started the teaser campaign for the upcoming Y500, and if you're confused, so are we. The Y400 4G got official last month, and the Y400 5G is barely two weeks old at this point. But the key to the mystery lies in the markets - the Y500 is launching in China, whereas the Y400 siblings are available in other countries. And yes, we know what you're thinking - vivo's lineup is getting increasingly more confusing by the day, and unfortunately there's nothing we can do about it. Anyway, back to the Y500 - it's coming soon to China and is advertised to have a durable build. No other details about it have been revealed yet, but undoubtedly those are coming in the next few days and weeks. In the meantime, we can take a look at its design, showcased in the teaser image above. It seems to have borrowed heavily from the X200, X200 Pro, and X200 Ultra in terms of its camera island's shape and positioning. That said, this will obviously be a mid-ranger, so the high-end looks are skin deep. We'll let you know when we find out more about it. vivo Y400 5G 128GB 8GB RAM ₹ 21,999 ₹ 21,999 256GB 8GB RAM ₹ 23,999 Source (in Chinese)
