Pints for Paws hits all the right notes for SPCA
Local music lovers came together for a great cause at the Pints for Paws fundraiser last Saturday, supporting the Lower South Coast SPCA.
Held at the ever-vibrant Rocky Ridge, Bar and Music Venue in Ramsgate, the event featured a stellar line-up of local bands and artists, keeping the crowd entertained from start to finish.
The annual fundraiser was sponsored by The Don Ira Spar Group and Hibiscus Brokers.
Petterson of The Don Ira Spar Group took a moment to remind the crowd why events like these matter.
In a meaningful message, he spoke about the importance of community support for the Lower South Coast SPCA, and how businesses, individuals, and animal lovers can all play a part.
'Every animal deserves kindness, care and a safe place – and it's up to all of us to help make that happen,' said Petterson.
With cold drinks flowing, tasty bites on offer and paws-itively good vibes all around, the event proved that the South Coast knows how to party with a purpose. From indie/rock tunes to classic covers, there was something for every music fan.
Thanks goes to all the organisers, performers and everyone who came out to support.

‘Ladies first' at Zappas Women's Day bash

Zappas Restaurant celebrated Women's Day with a lively celebration on Saturday, featuring a world record attempt and a focus on 'old-school' gentlemanly respect for women. Restaurant manager Chrisna Oosthuizen said the event formed part of the eatery's month-long Ladies First campaign. For a whole month, her restaurant is embracing the 'Ladies First' theme, encouraging a nod to old-school courtesy with a world-record attempt. 'This is to remind the ladies that although we are in a man's world, we are still women. We should still be treated like women and with equality.' The goal was to gather at least 472 women in the bar at exactly 18:00. This would have made it the biggest gathering of women in one bar at the same time. All the women who turned out were treated to free punch, special menus, and souvenirs that would leave them feeling seen and appreciated during Women's Month. Although the turnout was spirited and the energy vibrant, they ultimately did not manage to break the record. 'This is not only about breaking a record but also about reclaiming space for women in an atmosphere that felt both celebratory and respectful, where they were the honoured guests,' she said. Attendee Kgomotso Madumo said the event was a welcome chance to relax. 'It's not every day that women get treated like queens for free. I came with my friends and we felt safe and appreciated. The free punch was a nice touch,' she said. Another guest, Karin van der Westhuizen, said she enjoyed the atmosphere and message behind the day. 'The idea of reminding men to be gentlemen is beautiful. In a world where violence against women is still so high, events like these are important for awareness and unity,' she said. Music was always my desire – 'Skylar Star'

SASOLBURG.- As part of Women's Month, Sedibeng Ster looks at the life and career of this upcoming and rising hip hop artist. Boitumelo Pitso, otherwise popularly known as 'Skylar Star' by her fans, is a young recording and performing artist who is eager to make a name for herself in the music industry. Regardless of the challenges, Pitso is determined to make her dream a reality, especially in hip-hop music. This multi-talented artist is not just a musician; she is also a composer and songwriter of her own music. Skylar Star is well-known for her unique melodic sound, blending and mixing it with culture, lifestyle, and life experience as R&B, hip hop, trap, rap, Afropop, house, and amapiano. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Pitso said she loves art and has always wanted to be a superstar since she was a little kid. She told Sedibeng Ster that she is also fond of drawing, painting, dancing, and modelling, but her desire has always been to become a musician. 'Growing up, I had inspiration from Hip Hop music, which resonated deeply with my role models Rihanna and Lil Wayne, among others. My dream right now is to be a well-recognised musician, model, fashionist, and entrepreneur. It is not easy to be a musician or DJ because our talent here at ground level is taken for granted. We are not treated like those so-called celebrities. But regardless of these challenges, I won't give up on my God-given talent. I will push until my dreams come true. The only thing I need is to promote myself, especially my music, to the world. I want the world to know who is 'Skylar Star', a young girl from Sasolburg,' she said. Skylar Star told Sedibeng Ster that she used to write poetry as she was expressing her emotions through writing. She wrote her own song back in 2020, and this is where she realised that she can create music from her life experiences. She has been invited to perform at high-profile events in Vaal and the Free State. Skylar Star recently released her first album called Butterfly. The album is already trending on all her digital platforms. Her music can be found on the following social media platforms. Kourtney Kardashian-Baker shuts down pregnancy speculation with a side of sass

Kourtney Kardashian-Baker has once again shut down pregnancy rumours as fans continue to make speculations about her body. Image: Instagram American reality TV star, Kourtney Kardashian-Baker, has once again shut down rumours that she has a bun in the oven. The Poosh founder shared a carousel of images on Instagram last Friday, giving fans a glimpse of her holiday-filled life with her family, when a fan commented that there are rumours that Kardashian-Baker is expecting another child. The fan wrote: 'RUMOURS HAVE IT THAT YOU'RE PREGNANT KOURTNEY.' The 46-year-old clapped back and replied, 'Eating pancakes and jumping off cliffs,' hinting that she would not be doing such strenuous activities if she were indeed pregnant, because that could harm her and the baby. Next Stay Close ✕ This is not the first time that the media personality was rumoured to be expecting her second child with Travis Baker. Just last month, the mother of four was rumoured to be pregnant after she shared pictures from her holiday in Italy and included a picture of her in a bikini, which prompted fans to comment on her body, saying that she is expecting again. The Lemme co-founder replied: 'Or breastfeeding, eating gelato, focaccia, pasta, not working out and living my best damn life, baby!' 'The Kardashians" star and her husband welcomed Rocky, their first child together, in November 2023. She also has three older children with her ex, Scott Disick: sons Mason, 15, Reign, 10, and daughter Penelope, 13. Kardashian-Baker is by far the only celebrity to have been open about her postpartum body and not conforming to the 'snap-back' culture that has gained popularity among celebrity moms and has also created certain notions and expectations for new moms. In 2024, the reality TV star penned a heart-warming letter to all the moms out there about the pressures of bouncing back after pregnancy. She wrote: 'Dear new mommies, your body is beautiful at all stages. During pregnancy, as we are glowing and growing, postpartum, as we are healing and shrinking, and then that period I find the hardest as our bodies are still adjusting.'
