Shikhar Dhawan pens emotional post for son Zoraver during WCL stint: Wish he was here

India Today10 hours ago
Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan's recent social media post has struck a deeply emotional chord with fans across the world. The veteran Indian cricketer shared a heartfelt message about his son, Zoraver - a quiet expression of longing that stood apart from the usual rhythms of cricketing life. Accompanied by a series of previously unseen and affectionate photographs, the post offered a rare glimpse into Dhawan's personal world - one shaped by love, absence, and memories that linger long after the moment has passed.advertisement"WCL mein jab doston ko apne kids ke saath khelte dekha bas ek thought aaya, wish Zora was here. It would've been a different kind of joy. Later, I came across some of his childhood photos and suddenly, all those memories came rushing back. Some moments really do stay closest to the heart," Dhawan wrote on Instagram. Among the photographs, one in particular stood out - an image of Dhawan alongside Rohit Sharma, Rohit's daughter Samaira, and young Zoraver. In October 2023, Dhawan was granted a divorce by a Delhi court, which noted that he had suffered mental distress as a result of being kept away from his only son for several years. The court observed that Aesha Mukherjee, his estranged wife, had either not contested or failed to refute the allegations made against her.
Despite the findings, Dhawan was not granted permanent custody. The court awarded him visitation rights and allowed video calls with Zoraver during 'reasonable periods' both in India and in Australia, where Aesha resides.Speaking to news agency ANI earlier this year, Dhawan revealed that he had been blocked from all virtual communication with his son. Nonetheless, he continues to send him messages every few days, holding on to hope and the possibility of reconnection.Dhawan and Aesha, who has two daughters from a previous marriage, wed in 2011. Their marriage broke down after a prolonged period of personal strain, eventually culminating in their separation and divorce after 11 years together.Notably, the Dhawan-starrer India Champions team officially withdrew from their scheduled WCL fixture against Pakistan at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The decision, made collectively by the players, came in protest against the terror attack in Pahalgam and was in line with India's longstanding policy of not engaging in bilateral sporting ties with Pakistan. It marked the second time India had refused to take the field against Pakistan in the tournament, having also pulled out of their group stage encounter on 20 July at the same venue.- EndsTrending Reel

Not Only Rishabh Pant, Another India Star Suffered Finger Fracture But Still Batted During Fifth Test: Report

Under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, Team India registered a historic win at The Oval in the fifth and final Test against England. Mohammed Siraj took a nine-wicket haul as India won the match by six runs, drawing the five-match series 2-2. Despite registering a memorable draw in the series, Team India also dealt with several injury blows. The biggest blow came in the form of Rishabh Pant, who fractured his toe, and was ruled out of the fifth Test. Apart from him, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, and Akash Deep also faced injury blows. However, one injury which did not come to light during the series was of batter Karun Nair. The middle-order batter suffered a minor fracture on his finger during the second innings of the fifth Test while facing a rising delivery, according to a report by the Times of India. Nair is now set to miss the upcoming Duleep Trophy for the Central Zone. The first match of Duleep Trophy 2025 will be played from August 28 between the North Zone and the East Zone. Nair, who made a comeback into the national team after a hiatus of eight years, had an average outing against England. In four matches, he scored only 205 runs, including one half-century. Earlier in July, Nair returned to Karnataka after a hiatus of three years for the upcoming domestic season after Vidarbha Cricket Association granted him the No Objection Certificate (NOC). Nair played a major role in Vidarbha's title-winning run in the 2024-25 season, scoring 863 runs at an average of 53 and he also made a hundred in the final against Kerala. "It's tough to see him go as he was a big part of our team in the last couple of seasons. But it's his decision and we respect that and NOC was given. Hopefully, he will do well in the future seasons," a VCA official told PTI. The successful stint with Vidarbha also helped Nair make a comeback to the Indian Test squad after eight years. Days after Diddy's trial, ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura breaks her silence with an Instagram post about healing: ‘Little by little..'

Cassie Ventura has made a quiet yet powerful return to social media following two of the most life-altering moments of her year, the birth of her third child and her emotional testimony against ex-boyfriend Sean 'Diddy' Combs. Cassie returns to Instagram after Diddy trial and third baby On Thursday, 7 August, the singer shared a relatable Instagram Story about the postpartum experience. The clip, originally posted by the account momswithplans, features a man dancing with joy as DJ Khaled's Wild Thoughts blares in the background. Overlaid text reads, 'When your old self slowly starts coming out postpartum.' Cassie responded with a simple yet loaded caption: 'Factual. Little by little. lol.' A new baby and a new chapter for Cassie The post marks Cassie's first online appearance since welcoming her third child, a baby boy, with husband Alex Fine on 28 May. The couple, married since 2019, also share two daughters: Frankie Stone and Sunny Cinco. Her short comment may seem casual, but to many fans, it symbolises the start of healing, both from the physical toll of childbirth and the emotional wounds reopened during the courtroom showdown with Combs. Cassie's testimony against Diddy shook the industry Earlier this year, Cassie took the stand in Combs' high-profile criminal trial, where the music mogul faced charges including sex trafficking, racketeering, and prostitution. While he was found guilty of prostitution-related offences, he was acquitted of the more serious allegations. Cassie's courtroom revelations sent shockwaves through the industry. She described disturbing experiences during her long relationship with Combs, including being forced to participate in so-called 'freak offs,' sex parties orchestrated by the rapper. Alex fine defends his wife's strength Throughout the trial, Cassie's husband Alex Fine stood firmly by her side. In a powerful statement, he expressed both rage and admiration, emphasising that Cassie had fought her own battles and rescued herself from years of abuse. He credited her for doing the 'painful work' to heal from the trauma inflicted by her past. As Cassie eases back into public life, one thing is clear, her journey of reclaiming joy and identity is unfolding one step at a time. Or, as she put it, 'Little by little."
