Patna: It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for most of Patnaites on Wednesday morning. And that is why people thronged not only the venue along JP Ganga, but booked their seats on the rooftops of nearby buildings as well as treetops to witness a live air show by the world-famous
Surya Kiran Aerobatics Team
(SKAT) of the Indian Air Force, organised for the first time in Bihar.
Residents, young and old, men and women, not only from different walks of life but different parts of state as well, waited with bated breath for the scintillating aerobatics display, which finally began around 10.30am amid huge cheers.
The size of the crowd can be gauged from the fact that the entire stretch from JP Ganga Path towards Gol Ghar was jam-packed and vehicles moved at snails' pace when people started returning after the conclusion of the air show.
Surendra Kumar (65) had reached Patna all the way from Nalanda only to watch the unique aerobatics displays. "I have watched their performances only on television till now, so I decided not to miss the chance, and see them live," said an enthusiastic Surendra, briskly walking towards the venue.

Another elderly person, claiming to be a descendent of Babu Veer Kunwar Singh — in whose honour the air show was held on Shaurya Diwas — said it was a matter of great pride that SKAT performance was held for the first time in Bihar on the occasion, also known as Vijyotsav, to commemorate the victory of Kunwar Singh over the British on the same day during the 1857 revolution.
Homemakers Sunita and Gudiya, who came to watch the aerobatics displays with their families, said the event would remain etched in their memories. "It was awesome! We knew that there would certainly be something very special, but what we saw cannot be summarised in words. We are very lucky to have got the opportunity to watch such an incredible air show," said Sunita.
Among the audience were many school students who wanted pictures with the SKAT crew, who later obliged them.
A group of school students, when asked about their favourite manoeuvre, said all the aerobatics displays were mind-blowing. "If the tricolour trail filled us with a sense of patriotism, the heart formation was lovely," said Deepak, a Class XI student.

David Attenborough's Ocean is a brutal, beautiful wakeup call from the sea

NICE, France (AP) — An ominous chain unspools through the water. Then comes chaos. A churning cloud of mud erupts as a net plows the seafloor, wrenching rays, fish and a squid from their home in a violent swirl of destruction. This is industrial bottom trawling. It's not CGI. It's real. And it's legal. 'Ocean With David Attenborough' is a brutal reminder of how little we see and how much is at stake. The film is both a sweeping celebration of marine life and a stark exposé of the forces pushing the ocean toward collapse. The British naturalist and broadcaster, now 99, anchors the film with a deeply personal reflection: 'After living for nearly a hundred years on this planet, I now understand that the most important place on Earth is not on land, but at sea.' The film traces Attenborough's lifetime — an era of unprecedented ocean discovery — through the lush beauty of coral reefs, kelp forests and deep-sea wanderers, captured in breathtaking, revelatory ways. But this is not the Attenborough film we grew up with. As the environment unravels, so too has the tone of his storytelling. 'Ocean' is more urgent, more unflinching. Never-before-seen footage of mass coral bleaching, dwindling fish stocks and industrial-scale exploitation reveals just how vulnerable the sea has become. The film's power lies not only in what it shows, but in how rarely such destruction is witnessed. 'I think we've got to the point where we've changed so much of the natural world that it's almost remiss if you don't show it,' co-director Colin Butfield said. 'Nobody's ever professionally filmed bottom trawling before. And yet it's happening practically everywhere.' The practice is not only legal, he adds, but often subsidized. 'For too long, everything in the ocean has been invisible,' Butfield said. 'Most people picture fishing as small boats heading out from a local harbor. They're not picturing factories at sea scraping the seabed.' In one harrowing scene, mounds of unwanted catch are dumped back into the sea already dead. About 10 million tons (9 million metrics tonnes) of marine life are caught and discarded each year as bycatch. In some bottom trawl fisheries, discards make up more than half the haul. Still, 'Ocean' is no eulogy. Its final act offers a stirring glimpse of what recovery can look like: kelp forests rebounding under protection, vast marine reserves teeming with life and the world's largest albatross colony thriving in Hawaii's Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument. These aren't fantasies; they're evidence of what the ocean can become again, if given the chance. Timed to World Oceans Day and the U.N. Ocean Conference in Nice, the film arrives amid a growing global push to protect 30% of the ocean by 2030 — a goal endorsed by more than 190 countries. But today, just 2.7% of the ocean is effectively protected from harmful industrial activity. The film's message is clear: The laws of today are failing the seas. So-called 'protected' areas often aren't. And banning destructive practices like bottom trawling is not just feasible — it's imperative. As always, Attenborough is a voice of moral clarity. 'This could be the moment of change,' he says. 'Ocean' gives us the reason to believe — and the evidence to demand — that it must be. 'Ocean' premieres Saturday on National Geographic in the U.S. and streams globally on Disney and Hulu beginning Sunday. Follow Annika Hammerschlag on Instagram @ahammergram. ‘I'm A Very Lucky Girl': JoJo Siwa On Her Relationship With Chris Hughes

Last Updated: JoJo Siwa heaped praise on her partner Chris Hughes, revealing that he was a 'good hugger'. JoJo Siwa has opened up about her relationship with entrepreneur Chris Hughes. The couple forged a friendship on the sets of the British television show Celebrity Big Brother UK, season 24, which kicked off this year on April 7. While Jojo bagged the third spot, Chris finished in sixth place. The pair confirmed their relationship a couple of months later on June 2. Now Jojo, a singer and dancer by profession, has spoken about how she unexpectedly fell in love with Chris. JoJo Siwa appeared on the June 5 episode of Gyles Brandreth's podcast Rosebud, where she talked about her new relationship. The Boomerang singer revealed, 'It is a beautiful journey. Serendipity is Christopher and I's favourite word now. If you read the definition of it, it is essentially finding love when you're least looking for it. I do not know how the universe aligned for Chris to come into my life." When the host asked JoJo Siwa to share some special qualities about Chris Hughes, the 22-year-old failed to pinpoint any one. Heaping praise on her partner, JoJo said, 'Initially, the first thing that I took in about him was that he was a good hugger. I liked his hug, which felt like a nice embrace, and he smelled good. I was like, 'Okay, cool!'" JoJo Siwa added that she bonded with Chris Hughes 'right away" starting as friends first. 'I was not looking to fall for him, he was not looking to fall for me, we were having so much fun together, we were having a laugh together. Whenever one of us was down, it was the other one who helped," said JoJo. Further into the conversation, JoJo Siwa admitted to feeling unhappy on the sets of Celebrity Big Brother UK. After her exit, she realised that she had developed feelings for Chris Hughes that she never 'intended to but couldn't not feel." JoJo said, 'I am a very lucky girl because he was feeling the same thing." Before Chris Hughes, JoJo Siwa was in a relationship with Kath Ebbs. They parted ways soon after the Celebrity Big Brother UK wrap party. First Published:
