First Royal Mint coin to celebrate Anne goes on sale for her 75th birthday
The Royal Mint's commemorative £5 piece, dubbed its 'Anne-iversary coin', was personally approved by the princess.
It features a portrait of the King's sister wearing the Aquamarine Pineflower Tiara with her hair swept up in her signature bouffant style.
The design is framed with the inscription 'The Princess Royal – Celebrating 75 Years – Duty and Devotion' in tribute to Anne's steadfast royal duty over the decades.
Anne, often viewed as the hardest working member of the royal family, turns 75 on August 15, but so far has insisted her milestone should only be publicly marked by a charities forum she hosted at Buckingham Palace in June.
Rebecca Morgan, director of commemorative coin at the Royal Mint, said: 'For the first time in British numismatic history, we are honoured to celebrate the Princess Royal on an official UK coin.
'Her Royal Highness's unwavering commitment to public service, charitable work, and support of His Majesty's armed forces over seven and a half decades makes her truly deserving of this tribute.'
To the right of the princess's portrait is a depiction of her official coat of arms, and on the obverse is the King, who gave the creation its final sign-off in honour of his sister.
Thomas T Docherty, who designed the coin, said it reflected the princess's 'strength of character' and 'understated elegance'.
The portrait of Anne's head is based on a photograph of the princess taken by John Swannell, a Royal Photographic Society fellow, and shows her staring directly at the camera.
Mr Docherty said: 'I wanted to capture Her Royal Highness's remarkable legacy and dedication to public service.
'The portrait reflects her strength of character and unwavering commitment to duty.'
He added: 'It was really by observing Princess Anne and looking at the role she plays within not only her family but the nation and the Commonwealth that formed inspiration for the design of the coin.
'She has, I would say, a kind of understated elegance and strength.'
Mr Docherty continued: 'Being Scottish, I admire the Princess Royal's dedication to Scottish organisations and communities, and I hope this coin serves as a fitting tribute.'
The art deco-style diamond and aquamarine Cartier tiara Anne is wearing was a wedding anniversary present from King George VI to his wife Queen Elizabeth, later the Queen Mother, who went on to give it as a wedding gift to her granddaughter Anne in 1973.
The princess is also wearing an aquamarine pendant and matching earrings, both believed to have been made using stones from the tiara when Anne had it remodelled in the 1990s.
Anne, the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, is known for her no fuss approach.
She has survived a kidnapping attempt, competed in the Olympics and spent decades supporting her mother before becoming a vital part of the King's slimmed-down working monarchy.
The princess carried out nearly 400 official engagements in 2024 – the most of any member of the royal family – despite it being the year she was rushed to intensive care, spending five nights in hospital after she was believed to have been struck by a horse.
The commemorative coin is available to purchase from the Royal Mint's website on July 18, costing £17.50 for the brilliant uncirculated edition.
Other versions of the £5 coin are also available, with a silver proof priced at £110, a silver proof piedfort costing £208, and gold proof for £4,110.
The coin is also being sold as part of three sets which also feature either a single George VI threepence or florin or multiple George VI coins from 1950, the year the princess was born, with the prices ranging from £25 to £4,500.

A decade on, the advert - complete with its voiceover by Zoe Lister - has gained international popularity on social media. "Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday," is now somewhat of a viral phrase on TikTok and Instagram, with many people using the audio in their own videos. And this, hitmaker Jess Glynne met voiceover star Zoe Lister for the first time. Jess, 35, and Zoe, 43, had never met despite having their work combined a few years ago. Capital Breakfast, hosted by Jordan North, united the women for the very first time on Monday morning - and his excitement was contagious. In a video posted to Instagram, Jordan was so excited that he squealed it was "finally happening" ahead of the two women meeting. "It's happening! It's happening!" he screamed as Zoe entered the studio and gave Jess a hug. Co-host Chris Stark then asked Jess: "You know what's coming, right? We've got to chat about it. "Of course, talking about Hold My Hand… Chart-topping singer drew me a doodle mid-gig and now it's my first ever tattoo "You always hear that song whenever you go on a plane. "Then it's in the advert. "And then, for reasons no one really understands, this summer, it just exploded on TikTok. Has it surprised you how massive this has all gone?" ITV Karen Pirie season two ending explained as devastating murder case solved
Karen Pirie has returned to ITV with a second season and a new case to solve After a lengthy three-year hiatus, the much-anticipated return of Karen Pirie has graced our screens with its second series on ITV. Adapted from Val McDermid's acclaimed Inspector Karen Pirie novels, the drama features Outlander star Lauren Lyle as the eponymous protagonist, portraying a bold and spirited Scottish detective "with a quick mouth and a tenacious desire for the truth". The latest series, entitled A Darker Domain, sees Pirie embroiled in yet another cold case, peeling back layers of deception to unearth the grim realities shrouded in secrecy and a tangled web of potential motives. The three-part season exposes the 1984 kidnap of a charming heiress to a vast oil fortune, Catriona Grant, and her two-year-old son Adam. They were brutally taken and held at gunpoint outside a fish and chip shop in Fife, with the ransom notes leading to an uncontrollable press storm. However, as the kidnappers retreated into silence and the police investigation hit a dead end, the fate of Catriona and Adam remained shrouded in enigma, reports the Mirror. The discovery of a corpse connected to the original kidnapping, the first shred of evidence in decades, propels Pirie and her squad into what could be the defining case of their careers, all while under the watchful eye of Catriona's father. "As Karen delves deeper into what happened in the autumn of 1984, political grudges and painful secrets reveal themselves, and it soon becomes clear... the past is far from dead," hints the tantalising synopsis. Motivated by a desire to retaliate against her father Brodie (played by James Cosmo) upon learning that he had exploited Fergus (John Michie) - Adam's covert biological father - to conceal the fatalities caused by his oil operations, Cat and her boyfriend Mick (Mark Rowley) orchestrated a faux kidnapping. Her plan was to abscond with her father's wealth and start afresh with Adam, but this scheme was thrown into chaos when Mick's mates Andy and Kevin got entangled in their plot. Mick, sceptical of Kevin, aimed to keep Cat's involvement in the kidnapping under wraps, leading to a heated debate about whether they should disclose the truth to Kevin. When Kevin eavesdropped on their dispute, he threatened to expose the truth to Brodie, prompting Cat to shoot him in the head, resulting in his death. His body was discovered years later, triggering the commencement of the investigation. However, his remains weren't the only ones unearthed. Pirie's team stumbled upon Cat's body in a cave, with viewers soon discovering that her mother, Brodie's former wife Mary (Frances Tomelty), was responsible for her death following an emotional confession. Fergus and Brodie had uncovered Cat's role in orchestrating the entire kidnapping, and arranged a meeting with Mick, Andy and Cat to hand over the money. Unbeknownst to them, Mary had trailed them armed with a gun, intending to frighten off the actual kidnappers, oblivious to the fact that her daughter had been aware of the whole situation all along. Upon reaching the cave, she fired two shots, accidentally killing Cat and triggering a collapse that left her trapped inside. Mick, Andy, and Adam managed to get away, while Brodie and Mary concealed the truth for years, clinging to the hope that Cat had somehow survived. They weren't the only ones to discover the truth however, as Adam, re-named Gabriel after Mick raised him in Italy, learned who he really was and about his biological father and mother. The case ends with the arrests of Mary and Brodie, and Adam meeting his biological father Fergus, who is also on trial, but choosing to continue living his life with Mick in Malta, as he couldn't be reached by the Scottish authorities there. "There's no joy in closing a case like this, no joy, no celebration," Karen reflects as the series draws to a close. "Because my job is about finding answers, and I hope those answers bring peace. "But sometimes they aren't the answers that anyone wants to hear, people aren't who you expect them to be, victims don't always fit the ideal narrative. "Money and power can help you re-write history until even you believe it, but [in the end] everyone needs the truth, so I'll keep looking for it."

BBC's Celebrity Traitors is ‘blowing a whopping £760,000 on cast salaries'

Later this year, the celebrity iteration of the gripping gameshow is making its highly anticipated debut, boasting an array of high-profile British stars in the line-up. Comedian Alan Carr, singer Charlotte Church, presenter Stephen Fry and Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway are among those who'll be going head to head as either Traitors or Faithfuls, in the hope of winning £100,000 for their chosen charity. However, aside from one of them being awarded money for a worthy cause, it's also been claimed that each of them is being paid a significant salary to take part. On the latest episode of the podcast The Rest Is Entertainment, hosts Marina Hyde and Richard Osman spoke about the fees that the A-listers are receiving when they enter the castle with host Claudia Winkleman. 'It's certainly interesting to compare something like Celebrity Traitors on the BBC to I'm a Celebrity on ITV. Although we haven't seen the celebrity iteration yet, but we know it's gonna be massive. Look at the calibre of the people they got,' journalist Marina remarked. We don't have a fixed release date yet, but Celebrity Traitors is coming to BBC One and BBC iPlayer this autumn. In 2024, it was claimed that Coleen Rooney had received the highest paycheck for entering the jungle, taking home a reported £1.5million. Former professional boxer Barry McGuigan is said to have received £500,000 for his stint on the show, while Harry Redknapp, who was crowned the King of the Jungle in his season, also apparently was paid the same amount. It was recently claimed that the cast of Celebrity Traitors faced a unique problem during filming, when members of the crew initially refused to tell them the time when they asked. That was their response,' said Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed on The Comedian's Comedian Podcast. 'Every single member of production had to answer with that until someone kicked off.
