Doctor Who fans in disbelief over 'disrespect' of iconic star Jenna Coleman
This came as a special episode of the spin-off documentary series Doctor Who: Unleashed celebrated 20 years of the sci-fi drama's rebooted iteration.
First airing on BBC One on March 26 2005, Doctor Who returned to screens after an absence of 16 years, introducing Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor, and Billie Piper as companion Rose Tyler.
The rest, as they say, is history – and Doctor Who recently wrapped up its most recent series, with Ncuti Gatwa stepping down as the Fifteenth Doctor during a surprise regeneration.
Looking back over 20 years of filming in Cardiff, last night's Unleashed paid tribute to Doctors and companions past.

However, many fans were disappointed by one particularly glaring omission – namely, the curious absence of Clara Oswald, as played by Jenna Coleman.
Clara was initially introduced as a companion to the Eleventh Doctor, as played by Matt Smith.
First appearing in the Series Seven episode Asylum of the Daleks in 2012, Jenna's enigmatic appearance (playing one of three different people who shared a similar name, but the same face) turned into a full-time companionship under the Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi).
Clara departed the TARDIS in Series 9, with the 2015 finale Hell Bent being her last in a starring role. However, she did return for the Twelfth Doctor's final episode, showing up for a cameo in the 2017 Christmas special, Twice Upon A Time.
As such, Clara is one of the rebooted Doctor's longer-serving companions… making her absence from this week's celebration seem particularly odd.
'I'm in utter disbelief over how little time was dedicated to the 12th Doctor's era in the new Unleashed ep, only a little under 2 minutes in an hour long special,' wrote DWfigurephotos on X.
The user continued: 'The episode 'Blink' alone got more time dedicated to it than Peter's entire run! 🤦♂️ Also no Clara AT ALL?!'
'I know the Doctor temporarily lost all his memories of Clara, but it seems that the makers of Doctor Who Unleashed have forgotten about her completely,' said MrDavidEBrown.
'Is it just me or is it odd that the #DoctorWho Unleashed 20th Anniversary Special didn't even mention Clara. It just skipped over her completely. I can understand if Jenna Coleman wasn't available, but to not even mention or show the character seems really strange,' commented JovialVulcan.
'The whole time when Jenna Coleman played Clara, was skipped over. Her name not mentioned & only a glimpse of her from the distance in a scene from 'Deep Breath'. I wonder why that was?' said PayneNotes1.
Also missing from the line-up was Series 3 and 4 companion Martha Jones, as played by Freema Agyeman. Surprisingly, Millie Gibson's Ruby Sunday didn't rate a mention either, although she did appear in the background during an interview with Ncuti and Varada Sethu.
Former companions who were included in this love letter to Cardiff-era Who included Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, who played Amy and Rory Pond during Matt Smith's run on the show.
Representing Peter's time, Pearl Mackie also addressed her time as Bill Potts, while Jodie Whittaker's TARDIS-mate Mandip Gill provided some insight of her own.
Catherine Tate may not have appeared in an interview, but showrunner Russell T Davies and the documentary did at least acknowledge her existence.
Meanwhile, as the most recent companion, Varada joined Ncuti on the red carpet to discuss their stints on the show.
As perhaps the Doctor's most well-known companion, Billie Piper joined David Tennant as they reflected on their time in the TARDIS together.
Both have returned to the show since their exit, with David starring in three special episodes last year after (re)regenerating from Jodie's much-maligned Thirteenth Doctor.
His three-episode return culminated in the show's first bi-generation – heralding the arrival of Ncuti Gatwa as the show's Fifteenth Doctor. More Trending
In shocking scenes during this month's series finale, Ncuti stepped down from the show after only two seasons – apparently regenerating into Billie Piper as the episode ended.
Whether Billie is actually the Doctor remains to be seen, but her return to the show has left fans worried for its future.

Amid rumours that David Tennant might come back (again!) some have suggested that the show is 'running out of ideas' and coasting on its past.

Ahead of this year's series, fans think an announcement is set to take place TOMORROW. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 3 The casting announcement for Strictly 2025 is imminent Credit: BBC 3 The announcement comes amid a probe into two stars allegedly taking cocaine on the show Credit: PA Posting on Reddit, one fan wrote: "Seeing as the first announcement last year was on the first monday in august (the 5th) surely we should be getting the first announcement(s) tomorrow but there's been no mention of upcoming reveals from the BBC so far.. "any ideas on when they might start? the suspense is killing me!" While some agreed, some believe the show will halt the announcement due to the cocaine probe involving two of the show's stars. "I think it will be next week. Strictly would have posted a 'reveals starting on Monday' post by now if reveals were on Monday," one responded. They added: "I think they want to calm the alleged cocaine use story before the reveals." "Either tomorrow or from the 11th (so next Monday) as everything is seemingly pushed back a week?" said another. "Probably from the 11th now would had heard something if the reveals were starting tomorrow," said another. Currently, rumoured additions include Doctor Who and ER's Alex Kingston, Down's Syndrome model Ellie Goldstein and England rugby ace Chris Robshaw. Dani Dyer is also believed to be heading onto the show, as is The Traitors winner Jake Brown. But ahead of this year's casting announcement, Strictly has already found themselves dealing with behind-the-scenes drama with two stars accused of taking cocaine while on the show. BBC launches inquiry into damning allegations of drug consumption on flagship show Strictly Come Dancing The Sun on Sunday revealed that the BBC had been forced to launch an investigation using external lawyers to look into allegations of drug use. The Sun revealed today that the people in question are set to be offered rehab to take the issue. Last night, a source said: 'The BBC is taking the allegations really seriously. "Bosses are aware of the two stars in question and have a duty of care to make sure they're OK. 'As per BBC policy, the option of specialised professional support is on the table and will be offered.' Execs are also considering adding random drugs tests on next year's Strictly tour — where after-parties are known for wild scenes.

Emmerdale Dylan star reveals how 'stars aligned' on unexpected comeback story
Back in February Emmerdale viewers were stunned by a special episode which revealed what happened to April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) after she ran away from home. We saw her having a tough time living on the streets and in a squat, and how she was befriended by a young man called Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle), who was also living rough. When April returned to the village, Dylan later came looking for her. Desperate to protect his daughter, Marlon (Mark Charnock) tried to get rid of Dylan – who was battling drug addiction – by various means. Eventually Marlon agreed to pay for rehab for Dylan and the character left the village. Now he's back, and Fred Kettle told us what's in store for Dylan. 'I think Dylan's going to get introduced with a few new characters, including Ray (Joe Absolom),' he revealed. 'There's a bit of a County Lines idea there that we're going to do which has been really fun to play. It's Ray that actually helps him. He sort of takes him under his wing and helps him get away from drugs. 'I think Ray's trying to get him to gain a bit of trust. I feel like there's a little bit of a son father figure relationship going on. So Ray can gain trust to make Dylan deal drugs, basically.' Of course the main attraction of the village, as far as Dylan is concerned, is to see April again, as Fred explained. 'Their bond they had during that special episode, their time on the street, it was so special,' he said. 'They both helped each other get through really, really tough times. And when they parted, I feel like that's all Dylan would be able to think about, you know. So she's bound to be on his mind and he's bound to want to go back and see her.' These two things are quite contrasting, on the one hand dealing drugs for Ray and on the other trying to keep his life together for April. Fred said that Dylan knows that Ray is manipulating him but it's the best option he sees open to him: 'Dylan knows he's doing the wrong thing but it's more morally correct than what he was doing when he was back on the streets.' Whichever way the character goes, Fred is relishing the chance to explore the character some more. 'I feel like there's a few different routes it could go down and I'm willing to take any of them,' he said. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? Fred had some hints when he was previously at Emmerdale that the character of Dylan might have a future in the show, he revealed. More Trending 'I think before I finished there were definitely little talks happening. It was like, 'Oh you could come back.' I was like, 'Yeah I'd love to.' I think it's been perfect, really, because I've just finished college and two days later I was back on set filming. So it was ideal how that happened. I feel like the stars sort of aligned there.' He's looking forward to what's in store for his character. View More » 'It's going to be good. It's going to be a nice journey for a few different characters actually. David Attenborough fans left facing ‘nightmares' after spider sequence
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video For most people, just the thought of a cluster of spiders crawling on top of each other within a large, entangling web is enough to send a shiver down your spine. But for David Attenborough and his latest series Parenthood, which explores the trials and tribulations of parenting within the animal kingdom, clearly, that's not enough. The 99-year-old natural historian seems to be intent on showcasing one of the most nightmarish sequences possible as a 1,000-strong pack of young African social spiders can be seen eating their mothers. Captured by TV cameras in a never-before-seen moment, the premier episode of the series saw the spiders prey in a game of 'grandmother's footsteps' where they freeze in unison like musical statues before eating their elderly relatives. Attenborough explained 'demands of parenthood are finally taking their toll' on the mothers who offered their body as a 'gift' to their offspring before they departed. The atmospheric music, toe-curling sound effects and Attenborough's iconic voice combined to create the painstaking moment. 'Unsurprisingly, the moment left many viewers in complete shock. Oh my GOD they eat their Mum then all their relatives. It just confirms what I have always know spiders are EVIL,' Viki posted on X. 'These spiderlings are nightmare fuel,' Melanie shared. 'A lioness, a giraffe,a hippo & a gang of cannibal spiders, it's been a bit of a blood bath in tonight's #Parenthood I can hardly watch,' Neil added. Series producer and director Jeff Wilson described it as 'probably one of the best' sequences he had worked on in 30 years of film-making. '[I've] never heard Sir David deliver a sequence as good as that… it sort of brings a lump to your throat… he's the master at delivery,' he told the Guardian. 'It makes one feel quite sort of chilled to the bone that you know that your own young could do that. It's an extraordinary behaviour [but] when you step away from it and from the horror of it, it sort of makes sense.' He added that Attenborough was both 'delighted and horrified' by the groundbreaking footage. Joking, he also said that 'there will not be a parent of the land who won't turn up to school pickup without snacks ever again'. This comes after Metro exclusively shared a spectacularly tender moment from Parenthood between a female western lowland gorilla and her newborn baby. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video The snoozing baby gorilla is in a state of peaceful relaxation while lying on his mother's chest, his eyes closed as the forest hums gently around them. The five-part series Parenthood promises to show viewers never-before-seen animal behaviours while delivering a 'universal message about preserving the natural world.' More Trending Speaking to The Mirror, BBC head of specialist factual commissioning, Jack Bootle, described Parenthood as 'wonderful, warm, engaging, and surprising'. He said that it is 'made by some of the very best wildlife filmmakers in the world,' adding: 'I'm thrilled Sir David is joining us again to narrate it.' Parenthood is streaming on BBC iPlayer.
