, recently alleged that Ursa Clusters is a benami entity of his younger brother, Kesineni Sivanath. He sent an open letter to chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, requesting a review of the land allotments made to Ursa Clusters.
Chinni earlier denied the allegations and stated that he had nothing to do with Ursa Clusters or its promoters. As Nani continued to attack him, linking one of the promoters of Ursa Clusters with him, he sent a Rs 100 crore legal
defamation notice
to Nani. Chinni also demanded in the notice that Nani remove all the defamatory posts he made on social media platforms within five days and warned of initiating criminal defamation proceedings if he failed to do so.
Chinni further alleged that YSRCP leaders and former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy are trying to threaten NRI investors who are willing to contribute to the development of the state. He claimed that they did this while in power and are continuing the same behaviour even in opposition. Jagan is a master in floating suitcase companies, he said, and added that he has no moral right to criticise either the NDA govt or the NRIs who have genuinely come forward to invest in AP. Chinni assured the investors that they need not worry about the false propaganda of YSRCP and promised them all support.
Responding to the legal notice, Nani said it was an attempt to intimidate, silence, and muzzle criticism. He stated that he would respond with facts, not fear. He stood by every word he wrote and was ready to face defamation not only for Rs 100 crore but even for Rs one lakh crore. "Truth doesn't fear threats. And neither do I," said Nani.

Bengaluru: The state govt on Monday pinned the blame squarely on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) IPL franchise for the stampede outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4 that killed 11 people and left 75 others injured. Appearing for the state govt and police, advocate general (AG) Shashikiran Shetty submitted that while the team was still in Ahmedabad after winning the IPL final, RCB put out multiple tweets, declaring they would hold a victory rally in Bengaluru — without obtaining any permission from the govt. Additional state public prosecutor B N Jagadeesh, too, raised the same point in his submission before the court. Shetty further said the franchise had invited all and sundry in its subsequent tweets to attend the victory celebrations, with 13 crore people viewing those tweets. While arrangements were made for an estimated turnout of about 1.5 lakh people, the actual turnout was much larger primarily because of those tweets. Earlier, senior advocate Sandesh Chouta, appearing for Nikhil Sosale, the marketing and revenue head of RCB, argued that Sosale's arrest was illegal. According to him, Sosale was arrested by Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths and not by Cubbon Park police who had registered the case. He wondered how CCB came into the picture when the govt had handed over the probe to CID. Referring to verbal directives issued by chief minister Siddaramaiah to arrest officials of RCB and DNA Entertainment Ltd, Chouta said such orders cannot be issued since the investigation falls under the domain of the police. Responding to the judge's observation that "At best, the CM could say that 'the accused would be arrested in accordance with law'," the AG said he would verify that. Opposing grant of any interim relief to RCB, the AG further claimed that petitioners RCB made more than Rs 450 crore from IPL. "They announced some Rs 10 lakh compensation. They did not bother to care about those who lost their lives and suffered injuries. They did not bother to visit those families," he added while pointing out that granting any interim relief is akin to granting final relief, which would seriously affect the ongoing investigation. The hearing was adjourned to Tuesday.

Preliminary work begins at KRS dam despite opposition
Mandya: Despite strong opposition from farmers, locals, and various organisations, preliminary work on the controversial Cauvery Aarti project has commenced quietly at Brindavan Gardens in the near Mysuru. During a meeting on Friday, in the zilla panchayat, district minister N Cheluvarayaswamy acknowledged the widespread opposition to the Rs 92 crore project. He praised the united stand by farmers and local groups and assured that the matter would be taken up with the deputy chief minister and chief minister before proceeding further. However, contradicting those assurances, groundwork for the project began over the weekend. Workers from Gadag and Hassan have been engaged on-site, for the past three days. The area earmarked for the project is located near the boathouse. When this reporter from TOI visited KRS on Monday, it came to light that initial activities as tree felling, and land levelling have already started. When questioned, one of the workers confirmed, "We have been working here for the last three days for the Cauvery Aarti project. " There are nearly 20 to 25 workers involved in the preliminary work. As part of the preliminary work, a few trees have already been cut. Farmer leader Sunanda Jayaram, who has been at the forefront of the opposition expressed deep disappointment over the sudden developments. Upon learning that the work was ongoing on Monday, she contacted the district minister, who once again promised immediate action to halt the project, she said. Speaking to TOI, Sunanda Jayaram said, "During Friday's meeting, the minister assured us that the govt would not proceed without consulting the DCM and CM. If this continues, we will be forced to protest in front of the dam. We don't need a project that puts the safety of the dam and the environment at risk. Mailara Mahadevappa's Gram Sevashrama renovated, reopened
Haveri: Freedom fighter Mailara Mahadevappa founded the Grama Sevashrama in Koraduru village to promote Mahatma Gandhi 's ideals of poverty eradication, abolishing untouchability and indigenous awareness, while contributing to the freedom movement, said Vijay Mahantesh Danammanavar, deputy commissioner and chairman of the Martyr Mailara Mahadevappa National Memorial Trust. Inaugurating the renovated Grama Sevashrama on Monday, he detailed how Mailara Mahadevappa, resolute in his opposition to British rule, established the Koraduru Ashram, which inspired over 200 activists locally. Freedom fighter Kariyappa Kalkoti enhanced it, though it recently fell into disrepair. "Being familiar with this area since his youth, he undertook the ashram's renovation," he added. The DC said beyond renovating the ashram, people should comprehend Mahadevappa's principles and emulate his valiant character to pass this heritage to future generations. "Mahadevappa ended his life when he was just 32 years old by British firing, but he followed Ahimsa his entire life like Mahatma Gandhiji," the IAS officer said. Prof GB Kalkoti said during his studies, Mahadevappa received mentorship from KF Patil and Murigappa Eli, strengthening his patriotic spirit and wisdom.
