George Pickens fantasy football preview 2025: Stats, season outlook, predictions
Patrick Daugherty, George Pickens 2025 Fantasy Football Snapshot Pickens improved target and air yards last year share despite Arthur Smith's offense. Traded this offseason to Dallas, where he'll be a true and much-needed WR2 behind Lamb. Efficient and explosive, Pickens should thrive in high-volume Cowboys passing attack. Get personalized fantasy football insights based on your league settings with FantasyLife+. Your league is unique, your advice should be too. Head to and use code ROTO20 for 20% off. 2024: The Steelers moved on from Matt Canada in favor of fantasy football's public enemy No. 1 Arthur Smith ahead of the 2024 season. As expected, the team's passing volume dipped, but Pickens made up for it by upping his share of the pie. He finished 13th in target share (24.4 percent) and fifth in air yards share (45.6 percent), both of which were substantial improvements over his 2023 campaign. Pickens missed three games with a hamstring issue. His weekly yardage total fell by three yards, though that was counterbalanced by an increase of .5 receptions. What's changed: Pickens may not be a true No. 1, but he could be one of the league's best WR2s. In desperate need of exactly that, the Cowboys went out and acquired Pickens for a third-round pick. Pickens won't threaten to overtake CeeDee Lamb in the pecking order for targets. Instead, he is set to fill out a receiver room that hasn't had a second viable option since Amari Cooper in 2021. 2025 Outlook: Just because Pickens is parked behind Lamb doesn't mean he'll be starved for opportunities. The Cowboys have invested heavily in their passing game and Dak Prescott led the NFL in completions in his last healthy season. Pickens is coming off back-to-back campaigns with over two yards per route and has no competition for looks beyond Lamb. He should have no issues getting back to his 1,100-yard mark from 2023 in his first season as a Cowboy. **Projections from Spotlight Sports Group Go to: All players | QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs

Oklahoma Sooners are a better team than ESPN is giving them credit for
The Oklahoma Sooners enter the 2025 season outside of the top 25 in the US LBM Coaches Poll. It's an unfamiliar situation for one of the most successful teams in the history of the sport. But that's what happens when everything that could go wrong does for the Oklahoma Sooners. The Sooners are looking to rewrite the narratives and prove they're a better team than they were a year ago. While a number of national analysts think highly of the Sooners, there are some who are taking a wait-and-see approach. Over at ESPN, the Sooners were dubbed as long shots for the College Football Playoff in their SEC preview. In what figures to be a big season for Oklahoma coach Brent Venables, the Sooners added former Washington State quarterback John Mateer and running back Jaydn Ott from Cal. The defense should be solid, and if new offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle can turn things around, the Sooners might be a sleeper. The Sooners play Texas in Dallas and South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama on the road. - Mark Schlabach, ESPN The Sooners enter the season with a lot to prove to the nation after what happened last season. But this is a team that's made a lot of changes to the personnel for an offense that was one of the worst in the SEC last season. The hope is that Ben Arbuckle and John Mateer can at least return the offense to respectability. With Brent Venables calling the defense, one that figures to be really good again in 2025, the Sooners' offense doesn't have to score 40 or 50 points per game to be successful. And that should be encouraging for Oklahoma. Even though the metrics say the schedule is difficult this year, the reality is that the Sooners are significantly improved on paper and should be better prepared to play every team on their slate. Oklahoma may be considered a long shot due to what happened in 2024 or the schedule, but they're actually closer to a playoff team than many are willing to admit. Steelers All-Pro kicker Chris Boswell wants new deal
This article originally appeared on In addition to defensive tackle Cam Heyward, Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro kicker Chris Boswell is also seeking a new deal, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Boswell is currently the NFL's eighth-highest paid kicker. He's currently signed through 2026 with a $5 million average annual value. Harrison Butker of the Kansas City Chiefs is the league's highest-paid kicker with a contract value of $25.6 million/$6.4 AAV. 'Chris Boswell privately has been seeking a new contract from the Steelers,' Schefter wrote on X. 'Despite being voted first team All-Pro, Boswell was the AFC North's lowest-paid kicker last season. Three years ago Boswell signed a contract that tied him with Justin Tucker as the NFL's highest-paid kicker; but that market also has been reset the past two years.' Boswell, who was 41 of 44 on field goal attempts in 2024, nearlybroke an NFL single-season record. The record is 44 field goals, set by San Francisco 49ers kicker David Akers in 2011.
