Three planning to rob house in Jharkhand held

Seraikela (Jharkhand), Jul 20 (PTI) Three criminals planning to rob a house were arrested in Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharswan district, and arms and ammunition were seized from their possession, police said on Sunday.
Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Lunayat said he had received information on Saturday midnight that three notorious criminals were planning to enter a house to loot the property in Icha village under the Rajnagar police station.
Accordingly, a special team headed by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Seraikela) Sameer Sawaiya was formed to initiate necessary action, the SP said at a press conference here.
Rajnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Chanchal Kumar, along with adequate force, swung into action and arrested the three criminals, Lunayat said.
The police recovered a country-made pistol, a live cartridge, four mobile phones, an airpod and a motorcycle from their possession, he said.
One of the accused was wanted in nine cases of crimes, including murder, loot and extortion, and also booked in the Arms Act in Seraikela-Kharswan and neighbouring West Singhbhum districts, the SP said.
All the accused were forwarded to judicial custody by a court here on Sunday, the SP added. PTI BS BDC

(File photo) Bihar Police on Sunday said it has arrested the prime accused and his three associates for the murder of gangster Chandan Mishra inside a private hospital in Patna. Those arrested include prime accused Tauseef alias Badshah, his associate Nishu Khan and two others. They were nabbed by the police forces of Bihar and West Bengal in a joint operation in Kolkata on Saturday evening and later brought to Patna. According to a statement issued by Bihar Police on Sunday, "Prime accused Tauseef, who was wanted by the police in an Arms Act case, and his three associates were arrested by a joint team of Bihar and West Bengal Police from Kolkata on Saturday." Speaking to PTI, Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K Sharma said all four will be produced before a court here and police will seek their remand for custodial Mishra, a resident of Buxar district who was a murder convict and out on parole, was shot dead by gunmen inside a private hospital in Patna on Thursday morning. Police have identified all the accused. A purported CCTV footage of the incident, which went viral on social media, showed five armed men entering the ICU of the hospital and opening fire at Chandan Mishra on July was lodged at Beur Jail and had gone to the hospital for treatment on parole. He was involved in 24 criminal cases, including more than 12 murder investigations have revealed that the conspiracy to kill Chandan was hatched at Nishu's Khan residence in Samanpura locality of Patna, the statement added. HC seeks action report as 24 parole jumpers remain absconding in CG
Raipur: As of May 5, 2025, two out of 26 accused released on parole were arrested, leaving 24 at large, according to information from the five Circle Jails in Chhattisgarh. Similarly, information from seven districts indicated that out of 15 accused released on short-term bail as of May 5, 2025, none were arrested despite police efforts. In an affidavit submitted to the Chhattisgarh High Court, police officials informed they are making sincere efforts to arrest the remaining accused. The High Court is closely monitoring the status of prisoners who jumped bail or parole and are currently absconding. During a recent hearing, the court noted an affidavit filed by the Director General of Police (DGP), Chhattisgarh, detailing efforts to apprehend these individuals. The affidavit stated that the Head of Police Force is daily monitoring the status of accused persons who were released on short-term bail or parole but have not surrendered. Necessary instructions have been issued to all Range Inspector Generals of Police, including Rail, and the Superintendents of Police in various districts. A fresh instruction was issued by the Police Headquarter, Chhattisgarh, on June 9, 2025, reiterating the directive to all authorities to take necessary steps for the arrests and submit information by July 14, 2025, along with a list of absconding accused. The High Court has scheduled the next hearing for Sept 15, by which date the Director General (Prisons), Chhattisgarh, has been asked to file an affidavit providing the current status. In March, 2025, High Court had directed the Director General of Police (DGP to file an affidavit detailing the arrest status of 46 prisoners who were absconding after being released on short-term bail and parole. The affidavit revealed that out of an initial 83 absconding accused, 63 were still at large as of Jan 29, 2025. On Feb 4, 2025, a special drive was launched, and instructions were re-issued to all Range Inspector Generals of Police (including Rail) and Superintendents of Police in districts such as Raipur, Mahasamund, Gariaband, Durg, Bemetara, Balod, Bilaspur, Janjgir-Champa, Korba, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, Raigarh, Sakti, Surguja, Jashpur, Surajpur, Balrampur, Jagdalpur, Kondagaon, Dantewada, and Bijapur. These officials were directed to arrest the absconding accused and produce them before the concerned trial courts. The DGP's affidavit further stated that daily monitoring of the arrests of these absconding prisoners is being carried out. As per information received from seven districts, three accused from Raipur, Bemetara, and Dantewada, who were absconding after short-term bail, have been arrested and produced before the trial courts. Sixteen such accused remain at large.

Police arrest three burglars, recover 15 bikes worth 10L
Nashik: The Crime Branch Unit 1 on Saturday arrested three individuals and recovered 15 stolen motorcycles valued at over Rs10 lakh. While complaints have been found for only four of the bikes so far, police have urged citizens to visit the Sarkarwada Police Station to check if their missing motorcycle is among the recovered lot. Senior police Inspector Madhukar Kad said the operation was carried out under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik. "Our team has been actively collecting information about vehicle thieves to detect cases of vehicle theft," Kad said. Constables Goraksha Sable, Ram Barde, and Vilas Charoskar received a tip-off about two suspected vehicle thieves expected to arrive in the Nilgari Baug area of Panchavati with a stolen bike. Acting on the input, the team, laid a trap and apprehended the two suspects—Satyam alias Deva Garud (21) and Sahil Shaikh (21), both residents of Niphad. Upon questioning, the duo admitted the bike they were riding was stolen. They were taken into custody and, during interrogation, confessed to stealing 15 motorcycles from different parts of the city with the help of two accomplices, including a minor. Following the leads provided, the third suspect, Vikas Kumavat (23) from Dindori, was arrested. The stolen vehicles were reportedly stored with Kumavat for disposal. "Though we have recovered 15 bikes, complaints have been registered for only four of them so far, with the Sarkarwada, Adgaon, Nashik Taluka, and Niphad police stations," said PI Kad.
