This year's main event will feature Team Caitlin Clark taking on Team Napheesa Collier. Clark and Collier locked in their rosters earlier this month.
While this year's festivities are being hosted by the Fever, their star guard and captain of Team Clark announced on Thursday morning that she'll be on the sideline after suffering a groin injury on Tuesday in the team's win over Connecticut.

Sabrina Ionescu still has eyes on Liberty season amid All-Star festivities

They may be wearing different color threads for this year's WNBA All-Star game but they still made sure to stick to their preseason routine. It started by locking pinkies, then they continued with the rest of the special handshake they do before every game and then Stewart went in for a tight hug with a toothy smile. Saturday's game — a 151-131 win by Team Collier over Team Clark — was the punctuation on a fun three days of festivities during the league's midseason break. Ionescu went in with the right mindset. 'Absolutely no desire or care if we win or not,' Ionescu told The Post with a laugh. Getty Images She's got a point. The Liberty are scheduled to host the Fever on Tuesday. The team's break — if you can call it that for those who participated in All-Star festivities — was short-lived. 'Obviously, it's fun,' Ionescu said. 'I think it probably would have been a little bit more competitive if teams didn't play in such a short amount of days, and I think that's something as we're talking into our [collective bargaining agreement] and understanding, like All-Stars don't really have a break. We finish, we get on a flight the next day, we're here, jam-packed weekend, wanting to pour into the fans, show up to events, do 3-point contests, skills contest, and then playing a game and fly right back to practice and play in three days. Getty Images Caitlin Clark had been anxiously awaiting this weekend since it was announced last summer that Indianapolis would host the 2025 WNBA All-Star weekend. Despite earning her second consecutive All-Star nod, Clark watched the Friday and Saturday night festivities from the sidelines as she continues to deal with a groin injury. AP But she said she did her best to balance enjoying the weekend and receiving treatment for her injury. The Liberty are scheduled to host the Fever on Tuesday for their first game after the midseason break. Clark's status for that game is uncertain. Sonia Citron didn't think Ionescu was serious about giving the Mystics rookie half of her $62,575 prize money for winning the 3-point contest. But Ionescu swears she's a woman of her word. 'I didn't think she was being for real at all,' Citron said when Ionescu offered before the event. 'But I guess she was.' Consider this a tip of the crown from the champion to the first-year player who had courage to compete against the seasoned veterans.

Brewers hold off Dodgers again for 9th straight win
Associated Press LOS ANGELES (AP) — Freddy Peralta won his seventh straight start, Isaac Collins and Joey Ortiz homered, and the Milwaukee Brewers held off the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-7 on Saturday night to extend their win streak to a season-best nine. Shohei Ohtani hit his National League-leading 33rd homer and drove in three runs for the Dodgers. Tommy Edman and Miguel Rojas both went deep in the eighth to pull the NL West leaders to 8-7. But then Ohtani's flyball died on the warning track to end the eighth, and Trevor Megill threw a 1-2-3 ninth for his 23rd save as Los Angeles lost for the ninth time in 11 games. Milwaukee improved to 5-0 against the defending World Series champions this year, including a three-game sweep at home last week. Peralta (12-4) wasn't particularly sharp, giving up four runs and five hits in five innings as his ERA rose from 2.66 to 2.85. But the Brewers tacked on three insurance runs to maintain the lead after the All-Star right-hander exited. After the teams traded four-run rallies in the third, the Brewers took a 5-4 lead on Collins' 363-foot homer over the short right-field wall in the fourth. They made it 6-4 on Caleb Durbin's RBI double in the sixth. The Dodgers pulled to 6-5 in the sixth when Edman snapped an 0-for-29 skid with a single and Ohtani sliced an RBI single to left. Milwaukee pushed it to 7-5 in the seventh when Andrew Vaughn hit a two-out RBI single, and 8-5 in the eighth on Ortiz's homer. Los Angeles starter Emmet Sheehan (1-1) allowed five runs and seven hits in three-plus innings. Napheesa Collier caps busy weekend with All-Star Game MVP Award in win over Team Clark
Associated Press INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Napheesa Collier played the role of All-Star captain perfectly. First, she made all the right picks for her roster. Then she answered all the labor questions. And finally, she showed everyone, even the WNBA's young guns, how to stay focused on basketball. The five-time All-Star scored a record 36 points, grabbed nine rebounds and led the aptly named Team Collier past Team Clark 151-131 in the highest scoring All-Star Game in WNBA history. Naturally, Collier was selected the MVP. She made 13 of 16 shots, four from the specially designed AT&T logo 4-point-line that seemed perfectly aligned for Caitlin Clark, the other team captain who didn't play because of a right groin injury. And it was all by design. 'I tried to make my team not have that many new players," Collier said. "I've played with a lot of them and so it was good to get back with them, play with, like you said, some of those new players I haven't played with before.' But for Collier, this weekend in Indianapolis was about much more than a single game. The vice president of the Women's National Basketball Players Association executive committee and a co-founder of the Unrivaled basketball league never got distracted by a demanding schedule that forced her to prioritize the WNBA's future over adding another award to her trophy case. Collier spent Thursday afternoon negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement and Friday answering questions from a throng of reporters detailing the meeting. On Saturday, she shared the pregame stage with Clark for a news conference between the captains. And after the game, there were even more questions about the CBA. 'I feel like I haven't been able to forget it (Thursday's meeting) because people won't let us, which is amazing,' Collier said. 'Just the awareness we've raised this weekend, you guys asking these questions, the fans doing the chants, that, like, gave me chills.' But Collier also helped fuel the effort. She, like the other All-Stars, wore a T-shirt that read 'Pay us what you owe us" during pregame warmups. Then she reinforced the message with a historic game. Collier broke the All-Star Game's individual scoring record while her team scored a record 82 first-half points. Another of Collier's picks, Seattle guard Skylar Diggins, became the first player with an All-Star triple-double in the same venue she led Notre Dame to the national championship game more than a decade ago. And Collier even connected with rookie Paige Bueckers, both former UConn stars, for a basket. The captain couldn't have scripted it any better. 'We set a lot of records,' Collier said.
