Darnell Wright Turns Heads at Bears Minicamp, Sparks Role Speculation
Mini camp is officially in the books for the Chicago Bears, and while head coach Ben Johnson made it clear the team is 'not ready for primetime,' he emphasized that there's plenty of good to build on. The early stages of this new regime have been all about installing structure, energy, and evaluation. And on the final day of practice, a surprising highlight came from one of the team's biggest men in the trenches.

In a clip posted by Bears insider Zach Pearson, offensive lineman Darnell Wright stole the spotlight with an unexpected show of athleticism. '#Bears practice in the books today. Some fun to start practice with OL and QBs catching passes.

Here's Darnell Wright making a nice one handed catch,' Pearson wrote on X, formerly Twitter. The video shows Wright twisting and extending to make a spectacular one-handed grab, setting off laughs and applause from teammates.
Following practice, Johnson explained the reasoning behind the drill: 'I let those guys know, we only do this once a year and it's an evaluation. We'll circle back in training camp and in the season to see who we can trust to catch the ball or throw the ball. I think there's a couple guys on the O-line that stood out.'

Wright, who started 16 games at right tackle last season, has become a cornerstone on the Bears' line. Johnson, who famously dialed up creative formations in Detroit—such as using tackle-eligible plays and misdirection—may already have ideas forming.

While linemen like Wright aren't often targeted in games, the mere threat could force opposing defenses to prepare for something out of the ordinary. And with Wright's athleticism, it's not hard to imagine a trick play or two waiting in the wings.

PSG coach Luis Enrique wants 'different profile' to Donnarumma
Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique on Tuesday defended his decision to freeze out Gianluigi Donnarumma ahead of the new season, insisting he needed a goalkeeper with a "different" profile. Donnarumma appears set to move after PSG signed Lucas Chevalier from Lille, before Luis Enrique left the Italian out of his squad for Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham. "These are always difficult decisions to make. I can only speak highly of Donnarumma," the Spaniard told a press conference in Udine. "'Gigio' is undoubtedly one of the best players in his position. He's an even better person, but we were looking for a different type of goalkeeper. "My goal is to improve the team. It's my decision, and the club supports me." Donnarumma played a starring role in the latter stages of last season's Champions League as PSG secured the trophy for the first time with a 5-0 final thrashing of Inter Milan. Donnarumma -- reportedly a target of Manchester United and Chelsea -- said he was "disappointed" by his omission. "From the first day I arrived, I gave everything -- on and off the pitch -- to earn my place and defend the goal of Paris Saint-Germain," the 26-year-old said in an Instagram post. "Unfortunately, someone has decided that I can no longer be part of the group or contribute to the team's success. I am disappointed and disheartened." Donnarumma has made 161 appearances for Paris since signing from AC Milan in 2021. He has won seven major trophies with the European champions, while he also played a big role in Italy's Euro 2020 triumph. "I hope to have the opportunity to look the fans at the Parc des Princes in the eyes one more time and say goodbye as it should be done," he added. "If that doesn't happen, I want you to know that your support and affection mean the world to me." PSG captain Marquinhos, who has been with the club since 2013, admitted it was hard to see Donnarumma pushed towards the exit door. "It's always difficult," Marquinhos told reporters. "In the 12 or 13 years I've been here, I've seen the same thing happen to other important players, who were forced to choose another club at the end of the transfer window and leave. "Our life is like that, football is like that. As players, all we can do is give our all until the last minute while we're here." Luis Enrique's men also start their Ligue 1 title defence this weekend with a trip to Nantes on Sunday. kn/ea/jc

Restored ‘Terrible Trolley' honoring Steelers' 4 1970s Super Bowl wins now on display
One of the most popular and recognizable streetcars in the Pittsburgh area has been returned to its full glory. On Tuesday, the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum celebrated the restoration of The Terrible Trolley, a Port Authority (now Pittsburgh Regional Transit) streetcar that was painted to celebrate the Steelers' four Super Bowl Championships in the 1970s. It subsequently became a popular symbol of Pittsburgh's claim as 'The City of Champions" through the 1980s. But after the iconic streetcar was retired, it was sold and sat inside in Ohio for 25 years. That is, until the Pittsburgh Trolley Museum acquired it in 2023. 'The Terrible Trolley represents the Pittsburgh region's pride in their beloved sports team. We are excited to present this beautifully restored and nostalgic streetcar to our community,' Executive Director & CEO, Jeanine DeBor said. 'We are extremely proud of the hard work and dedication our paid and volunteer staff devoted to this project.' The museum partnered with the Washington County Tourism Promotion Agency to restore the trolley to full operation and relocate it to Washington County. 'We were proud to partner with the PA Trolley Museum to not only provide a majority of the funds to refurbish the Terrible Trolley, but to secure its relocation to Washington County for everyone to enjoy,' said Jeff Kotula, with the Washington County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Promotion Agency. 'In addition, with the NFL Draft coming to Pittsburgh in 2026, the Terrible Trolley will be a tourism draw to Washington County to those visiting our region from all over the United States during the draft.' Steelers' Aaron Rodgers still frustrated with new helmet, says 'it looks like a damn spaceship'
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was asked Tuesday about him walking off the field in Jacksonville after last week's preseason opener alongside 30-year-old edge rusher T.J. Watt and 36-year-old defensive tackle Cam Heyward. The 41-year-old Rodgers said, at this point of his career, he "gravitates toward the old heads." In a much more literal sense, the same is true about Rodgers' affinity for the old Schutt helmet he wore for several years but is now banned by the NFL. The Schutt Air XP Pro Q11 LTD didn't meet the league's new safety standards, so Rodgers has been practicing in the Schutt Air XP Pro VTD II. To say he's ticked off about the wardrobe change would be an understatement. "I don't like it, no," Rodgers said Tuesday, per ESPN. "I'm trying to change. We're in the process still. It looks like a damn spaceship out there." Rodgers added: "We got to change it. The face mask doesn't fit the helmet because that's an old face mask, obviously just like I'm old, but we're trying to find the right helmet right now." Rodgers, known for sticking with a cloth, two-point chinstrap throughout his career despite equipment advances, first complained about the helmet in June at mandatory minicamp, not long after he signed with the Steelers on a one-year deal. The four-time league MVP hasn't tested his new helmet in a game yet. Rodgers, like several other seasoned starters on Pittsburgh's roster, didn't play against the Jaguars this past Saturday. Even if Rodgers doesn't suit up for a preseason game this year, he's still going to get some meaningful reps against an opposing team before Week 1. That's because the Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are holding a joint practice Thursday, two days prior to their exhibition in Acrisure Stadium. "It's good to go against a different team [because] ... you get a chance to go against not-vanilla defenses,' Rodgers said Tuesday, per The Associated Press. "So hopefully [Tampa Bay head coach] Todd [Bowles], he probably won't show everything, but he'll do some stuff to stress our protection and give us a chance to get some film to work on."
