Albion came from a goal behind to lead 2-1 until the 67th-minute mark in the Northern Premier League West affair.
Their noses were in front thanks to the goals from James Hooper (33mins) and Max Harrop (61mins).
Harrop's goal was his first since New Year's Day's 4-0 dressing down of Runcorn Linnets.
But six minutes later Henry Bererton, who had only stepped off the bench moments earlier, bagged an equaliser that earned his relegation-threatened side a share of the spoils.
For Hanley, who are 20 points from safety and sat second from bottom, this was their eighth away draw of the season – the most by any club in the division.
The point that was earned leaves Albion 13th on the ladder ahead of hosting third-from-bottom Wythenshawe on Saturday.
In Saturday's other fixtures, 1874 will visit Whitchurch Alport in the Midland League Premier Division.
Northwich Victoria, who are in the same division and were scheduled to host Wolverhampton Casuals last night, Wednesday, after Northwich Guardian went to press, entertain OJM Black Country.
Resurgent Barnton will welcome Ashville to Townfield in the North West Counties League First Division South.
Their NWCFL neighbours and rivals Winsford United face Shawbury United at Barton Stadium tomorrow, Friday.

How Brighton's Matt O'Riley went from possible departure to opening-day scorer
During Brighton & Hove Albion's pre-season training camp in Spain this summer, with speculation swirling about his future, Matt O'Riley took the initiative to clarify with head coach Fabian Hurzeler his desire to make his move to the club work. 'I think he's naturally got trust in me just because he's seen the rhythm I've had in pre-season, which is great,' O'Riley told reporters after scoring a penalty in Saturday's season-opening 1-1 draw against Fulham, one of his former clubs, at the Amex Stadium. There is still interest in O'Riley from Italian clubs, but the chances of him staying with Brighton are stronger than at the time of his previous success from the spot. It has been quite a turnaround since he converted a penalty in the 4-1 away win against Tottenham Hotspur in the final fixture of last season. That was a rare moment of joy in a forgettable debut campaign with Brighton, following a £25million ($33.8m) move from Celtic. Nine minutes into his first Brighton appearance, in the Carabao Cup, O'Riley was injured in a tackle by Crawley Town defender Jay Williams. The resulting ankle ligament damage kept him out for 10 weeks and he was playing catch-up from then on, struggling to command a regular place and position. A knee injury in the 2-0 win at Ipswich Town in January was a further obstacle in O'Riley's quest to establish himself, with his next start not coming until April. He had thrived in two-and-a-half seasons in Glasgow, averaging a goal involvement every other game (27 goals and 35 assists in 124 appearances) under Ange Postecoglou and then Brendan Rodgers. Three of those assists in his final year with Celtic came in Champions League encounters with Atletico Madrid, Lazio and Feyenoord. Two goals and three assists in 21 Premier League appearances — only 11 of which were starts — in his first year at Brighton represented a significant drop in output. Then, while O'Riley was on international duty with Denmark (an England youth international, he has a Danish mother) in early June, reports surfaced there that he was not entirely happy with how Hurzeler had been using him in different midfield positions when he was fit to play. It only fueled further rumours that his first season at the Amex could also end up being his last. By mid-June, one Serie A club had pushed their interest as far as a verbal offer, initially on a loan basis. Brighton, however, were keeping their options open; they were not actively trying to sell O'Riley, but they understood his frustration and were not ruling out a move if it suited all parties. Advertisement O'Riley's reinvention was evident in the second match of that pre-season trip to Marbella against Las Palmas, a La Liga side last season. Playing behind Danny Welbeck, he contributed a goal and an assist in a 2-0 victory. In a post-match chat with reporters, including The Athletic, O'Riley looked and sounded in a better place. He spoke of feeling 'a lot more connected' in the playing system with Welbeck, operating closely together in and out of possession. 'I've come back this pre-season feeling a lot better, both just physically and mentally in general, and I think that's helping me on the pitch just be a lot more free,' he said, brushing off those reports from Denmark that hinted at dissatisfaction by remarking that 'people are good at twisting your words'. Asked by The Athletic how, at that stage, he saw his future, O'Riley added: 'Of course, you never know what happens, because football is a very unique business in that sense. In many ways, some things are out of your control at times. But at the same time, I'm here, I enjoy being here. I love spending time with my team-mates and the staff. I think that should be enough for now.' Fast forward to the start of the season, and three days before Fulham's visit, a source — speaking on the condition of anonymity to protect relationships — told The Athletic that Hurzeler has been very happy with O'Riley and sees the 24-year-old as part of his plans for the 2025-26 campaign after a strong pre-season. Aside from O'Riley's sixth successful penalty from eight career attempts with Brighton, Celtic and Fulham, he showed up well behind Georginio Rutter on Saturday, operating mainly as the No 10 but sometimes more like a No 8, with licence to drop deeper at suitable moments. Hurzeler mentioned during his post-match press conference that O'Riley 'worked well defensively'. O'Riley's 88-minute contribution was his second-longest period on the pitch in any Brighton game, before he was replaced by James Milner. He has only seen out more minutes for the club once: the 1-1 home draw against Newcastle in May, in which he was taken off at 89 minutes. The extent of Riley's opportunities is likely to revolve around how Hurzeler uses Welbeck and Rutter. Welbeck at No 9 and Rutter at No 10 is arguably the most effective alliance, in which case O'Riley could be squeezed for chances again. Even so, he agrees that his future at the club is cemented more now than it was at the start of the summer transfer window. 'I think a good pre-season helps,' he said. 'That's something I didn't get last pre-season. I feel more integrated with the group. I feel like I'm getting more rhythm, feeling more settled in general. Euros star is heading back to Albion after agreeing new deal
Euros star Michelle Agyemang is back with Albion. The England striker has rejoined the Seagulls for a second season on loan from Arsenal. Agyemang, 19, became a national star after helping the Lionesses retain their European crown this summer. She has recently been on pre-season tour with the Gunners. 49ers' Brock Purdy reconnects with Brandon Aiyuk, relies on Ricky Pearsall in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS — More than an hour before kickoff, Brock Purdy threw to Brandon Aiyuk again. It was more than playing catch in the backyard. Aiyuk, nearly nine months removed from tearing his ACL and MCL in the same knee, moved in and out of cuts at a speed that almost seemed normal for the San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver. 'Obviously he looks great physically, progressing in the right way with his knee,' Purdy said postgame, 'but more than anything, man, you can tell he wants to get back out there and compete, which I love.' It appeared as if he was a step or two away from the Aiyuk of old that helped a rookie Purdy navigate Sin City. Allegiant Stadium was ground zero for what became a budding partnership between the two. A New Year's Day game set the stage for Purdy — recently thrust into a starting role from third string — to connect with Aiyuk on nine completions, matching their combined total across Purdy's first three career starts. Together, they eclipsed the century mark for the first time and led the 49ers to a thrilling 37-34 overtime win in Raiders country. 'The history that we've had on the field together has been awesome,' Purdy said. 'Whenever he's able to get back out there, we'll be ready to roll.' Saturday's nostalgia spanned only a few completions during warmups. Aiyuk is still months from making a full return. Purdy still fared more than fine in his 2025 debut. Ricky Pearsall kept the WR1 spot warm. Purdy and several starters, Pearsall included, played only the opening drive of the 49ers' second preseason game. Of seven passes Purdy attempted against the Raiders, the first three went to Pearsall, who caught each one for a total of 42 yards. Fans had heard of the promising Purdy-Pearsall connection all training camp. What they showed in almost six minutes of game action was proof of concept. Purdy and Pearsall didn't have much time to get on the same page last season. Pearsall missed most of OTAs and training camp due to injury, before a traumatic armed robbery incident in late August left the 2024 first-round pick to nurse a gunshot wound. Purdy recently said syncing with Pearsall upon his return to football was at first a struggle. They worked out together down in Florida during the offseason, and camp has largely allowed Purdy and Pearsall to focus on their chemistry sans Aiyuk and veteran Jauan Jennings, who has not practiced since late July with a calf injury (and a pending extension request). 'Ricky's a real good route runner, sometimes he gets too concerned with beating the guy, understanding that he's got to do it in the time of when Brock's looking at him,' 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said. 'That's something those guys have really been working through and getting really good at.' Purdy found Pearsall on the game's first two plays from scrimmage to move the sticks. Then, on a third-and-18, Purdy went back to the well: a 21-yard strike to Pearsall, who ran a dig into the soft spot of the Raiders' zone defense to preserve the drive. 'We're just always talking, man,' Purdy said. 'He loves football, I love football, and so when you got two guys that are willing to put in the extra work and explain what we're trying to get out of the plays and reps, I think great things can happen from that. 'We honed in on some things this year in camp.' It's not ideal to be without Aiyuk or Jennings, whose timetable to return remains unclear after his near-1,000-yard breakthrough a season ago. Much has been said about the potential acquisition of a veteran wideout to fill the void. At least for now, early returns suggest Pearsall may have the upside to justify pocketing the $14.2 million market value of Amari Cooper (per Spotrac) for a rainier day. Shanahan hasn't ruled out Jennings for Week 1. Perhaps a Pearsall-Jennings duo, plus a healthy Christian McCaffrey and smelling-salted George Kittle, could hold over the 49ers until Aiyuk is ready. Any rust accrued in the time since Purdy last targeted Aiyuk and Jennings does not worry the $265 million face of the franchise. They've been there, done that. 'They have so much experience, that when they do get on the field, they'll pick up right where they left off,' Purdy said. 'I always see JJ in the locker room, and we talk about practice, just what he's seeing. Same thing with Aiyuk. … They care, obviously, and they're continuing to grow mentally and stay on top of their game.'
