When will Matt Pearce return to Springbok commentary booth?

The Springboks have started the season with some relatively 'low-key' fixtures against the invitational Barbarians, Italy (twice) and Georgia, but during these broadcasts, many TV viewers have wondered where lead commentator Matt Pearce has been. Pearce has commentated on over 150 SA games and has become the modern era 'voice of the Springboks', and many viewers have missed his popular commentary, especially when alongside equally eloquent and insightful Hanyani Shimange. The good news is that both Pearce and Shimange are set to return for the Rugby Championship, with SuperSport – quite like the Springboks – having simply been looking to expand their commentary 'depth'. While Pearce and Shimange have taken a breather, the Springboks have backed veteran broadcaster Paul Stubbs, supported by the likes of Jean de Villiers, Layla Arrison and even a new pitchside analyst in former Springbok women's player Zenay Jordaan. Kick off times for next Springbok Tests as one more game added

The Springboks are currently enjoying a brief break before heading into the very serious business of preparing for the Rugby Championship, which kicks off on 16 August. After three convincing wins over Italy (twice) and Georgia to start the Test season, the Springboks are set to have at least 10 more fixtures to look forward to this year. However, it's well know that SA Rugby were looking to add at least one more fixture to the team's schedule as Rassie Erasmus has made it clear that the more game time the better this season. According to , the Springboks are now set to face Japan in Brighton on 1 November in what will effectively serve as a 'warm-up' to the end-of-year tour. REMINDER OF THE REMAINING SPRINGBOK SCHEDULE FOR 2025: 16 August: vs Australia, Ellis Park, Johannesburg. Kick off: 17:10 . . 23 August: vs Australia, DHL Stadium, Cape Town. Kick off: 17:10 . . 6 September: vs New Zealand, Auckland. Kick off: 09:05 . . 13 September: vs New Zealand, Wellington. Kick off: 09:05 . . 27 September: vs Argentina, Kings Park, Durban. Kick off: 17:10 . . 4 October: vs Argentina, London. Kick off: 15:00 . . 1 November: vs Japan, Brightin. Kick off: TBD. 8 November: vs France, Paris. Kick off: 22:10. 15 November: vs Italy, Turin. Kick off: 14:40 22 November: vs Ireland, Dublin. Kick off: 19:40. 29 November: vs Wales, Cardiff. Kick off: 17:10. The game against Japan is certainly one of those games where Erasmus would be able to hand out some debuts and select an experimental side to continue expanding the squad. 'This will be a tough season for us in terms of Tests, just looking at our draw,' Rassie Erasmus commented earlier this year. 'We had a tough 2022, but now having 14 ir 15 matches, I think it is only the second time in history that we have it. 'I think 2007 had 17 matches. It will be the first one in a long time, but we need them.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. He's in your head! Rassie follows Wallabies ahead of Rugby Championship clash

Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus has set his eyes on the team's next test match opponents, Australia's Wallabies. The countries will clash in two Castle Lager Rugby Championship games in Johannesburg and Cape Town next month. As he's done before, Rassie Erasmus has strategically followed the Australian rugby team on his X account. The Springbok coach has made it a habit to keep tabs on the social media posts of his rivals, and quickly discard them after moving on. TikTok account @allthingsrugbytik posted: 'When the Rugby Championship is around the corner and Rassie Erasmus starts following your team on social media… You just know the mind games have officially begun'. @allthingsrugbytik When the Rugby Championship is around the corner and Rassie Erasmus starts following your team on social media… you just know the mind games have officially begun. 😉 #RassieErasmus #MindGames #AllThingsRugby ♬ original sound – AllThingsRugbyTiktok The Springboks will play the Wallabies on 16 August at Ellis Park, in Johannesburg. A week later, they will clash again on 23 August at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town. The rival teams last played each other in August in Perth, with SA winning 30-12. The Boks will then take on New Zealand and Argentina in the weeks that follow. Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus will announce a 36-man squad to face Australia. Image: SA Rugby According to reports, Rassie Erasmus is likely to select a more experienced squad to face the Wallabies in the Castle Lager Rugby Championship. He said in a media briefing following the Springboks victory against Georgia last weekend: 'We'll name 36 guys on Tuesday for the Australia series, and within that squad there'll be one or two guys that we experiment with, but the bulk of that squad will be experienced players who are suited to the way we want to play'.
