Pine Is Having an Interior Design Comeback—Here's How to Make It Work in Your Home
Whether clad wall-to-wall in more daring spaces, or simply deployed in chunky table and chair form, Google searches around the affordable wood have peaked at over 5,000% globally in the last month alone. Meanwhile, at second-hand furniture site, Vinterior, sales of pine furniture—including Swedish mid-century designs and Victorian larder cupboards—jumped by 500%, with sales holding steady into 2025. Anecdotally, Instagram is full of people showcasing their pine buys, with Rainer Daumiller's knotty round table and chairs a particular favorite. And British furniture designer Faye Toogood recently harnessed Finnish pine when creating her Peace Outdoor Lounge Chair in collaboration with Vaarnii.

'There has been a noticeable shift back towards using beautifully traditional pine in recent years – the kind you find in Victorian houses,' says interior designer Hollie Bowden. 'I particularly love the work of the Swedish architect and designer Axel Einar Hjorth, whose Utö Chair is a favorite.' A cult classic that was only produced until 1938, prices for the Utö chair now fetch up to $6,400 for a single chair, thanks to its versatility and simple yet rustic and robust form. Designers, including Rose Uniacke and Pierre Yovanovitch, have them in their own homes, such is their appeal.
Interior designer Beata Heuman puts 'pine-o-mania' down to Hjorth's influence: 'To the absolute stunned amazement of my [Swedish] parents, Axel-Einar Hjorth's early 20th-century furniture has made a huge comeback, and I think his work has greatly contributed to the pine resurgence,' she says. 'Those chunky pine pieces are perhaps not 'beautiful' but they are certainly cool, adding tension to a scheme by virtue of looking somewhat odd. There is an abundance of pine in Sweden, so this look is particularly prevalent and feels a little less sexy since it's so commonplace.' For Heuman, the Utö works best as a one-off statement: 'Artful in isolation, it feels tongue in cheek because of its naïve simplicity,' she adds.

Kensington Palace Confirms Bombshell News: Kate Middleton and Prince William Are Moving (See Photos of Their Rumored New Home)
It's official: Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three children—Prince George,12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7—are embarking on a new chapter of their lives. Kensington Palace confirmed reports that the royal family "will move house later this year." While the palace hasn't revealed the exact location, multiple reports say the family will be moving from their four-bedroom home, known as Adelaide Cottage, in Windsor, to an eight-bedroom estate nearby. Dubbed Forest Lodge, the 328-year-old home has been undergoing renovations, which the Prince and Princess of Wales are paying for themselves, according to People. (Prince William earns about $30 million a year from the Duchy of Cornwall estate.) Forest Lodge's exterior, circa 2001 (Photo: English Heritage/) The Georgian-style manor is part of England's National Heritage List, featuring a vaulted, half-barrel ceiling, marble fireplaces and Venetian windows, and earlier this month, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead approved requests to replace doors and windows, strip out internal walls and upgrade the floors and ceilings, the Independent reported. Shortly after Prince William and Princess Kate moved into Adelaide Cottage in 2022, they experienced the loss of Queen Elizabeth, William's grandmother, and in the years following, Princess Kate underwent chemotherapy (and thankfully announced she was cancer-free in September 2024). During this time, King Charles has also been battling cancer, sharing in May that he feels he's "on the better side" of his health the family moves forward—and looks ahead to Prince George's move to a new school in September 2026—the transition to a new house seems all the more fitting. It's a chance to turn the page and create new memories; a fresh start, so to speak. Here's to happy beginnings, Prince William, Prince Kate and kids! French Women Have Decided These 3 Shoe Trends Are Officially Chicer Than Flat Sandals
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. I hate to say it, but sandal season is slowly slipping away. With unpredictable weather and fall on the horizon, the risk of soggy feet and a new shoe purchase you'll only be able to wear for a month just isn't worth it. Like many of us, I'm being nudged toward practicality and leaving my beloved sandals tucked safely in the wardrobe—at least for now. After living in them all summer long, the thought of styling anything but sandals feels slightly disorienting. In need of inspiration, I turned to the ever-reliable French style set to see how they're transitioning their footwear for these in-between days. As always, they delivered, offering chic, weather-appropriate alternatives that still manage to retain a breezy feel. From elegant slip-on flats to timeless classics, I've rounded up the three key shoe trends French women are genuinely wearing in place of sandals right now—just look at the images below for further proof. 3 Shoes French Women Are Wearing Instead of Sandals Now 1. The go-to shoes for effortless elegance, this versatile staple is perfect for navigating late-summer dressing. Style Notes: Soft, comfortable, and enduringly chic, they're easy to style with miniskirts and tailored shorts now and full-length trousers and jeans as the weather continues to cool. Whether you opt for flats or a heeled version, these slip-on styles bring an instant sense of polish to any outfit. Style Notes: Flat mules are great for everyday wear, and a low heel adds just the right amount of lift for evening plans. French women are styling them with everything from wide-leg trousers to tailored co-ords, proving just how adaptable they can be. Shop Closed-Toe Mules Yes, that price is correct. View Deal The almond-toe detail gives these such an elevated edge. View Deal Be quick—these are on their way to selling out. View Deal This post originally appeared on Who What Wear UK.

Will 'With Love, Meghan 'Get a Season 3? What We Know About the Future of Meghan Markle's Netflix Show
NEED TO KNOW Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have extended their Netflix deal to produce more new film and television projects The news came shortly before the release of season two of the Duchess of Sussex's lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan The couple's announcement included the confirmation of a With Love, Meghan holiday special, but the future of the series remains unknown Meghan Markle just dropped the trailer for the second season of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, giving fans a look at the star-studded upcoming episodes of her food and lifestyle show. The release comes on the heels of the news that Meghan and Prince Harry have struck a new deal with Netflix for future film and television projects. On Aug. 11, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they would be extending their creative partnership with the streamer through their Archewell Productions with a multi-year, first-look deal. 'We're proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As ever brand," Meghan, 44, said in a statement. "My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally and celebrates our shared vision.' The update comes after it was widely reported in July that Harry and Meghan's initial five-year, $100 million deal with Netflix would not be renewed when it expires in September. In addition to the deal, the announcement came with the news of a With Love, Meghan holiday special, set to premiere in December. However, there's been no news yet about the possibility of future seasons of With Love, Meghan. Season two was announced shortly after With Love, Meghan premiered its debut season in March. The second season of the lifestyle show had already been filmed, with Michael Steed back as director. Netflix is also a partner with Meghan's lifestyle brand, As ever, and many of the products are featured on With Love, Meghan. Netflix's CEO, Ted Sarandos, recently said, "We're a passive partner in Meghan's company, and it's a big discovery model for us right now." The Duchess of Sussex told Inc that she was "building out a very different business plan" until she met with Josh Simon, Netflix's vice president of consumer products. "The reach from Netflix, coupled with my vision for the brand, felt like it was going to be a really perfect match," she said in the interview. She added, "They have tremendous experience on licensing deals and turning brands and shows into really good products, like Bridgerton,' referring to Shonda Rimes' royal-inspired series, which has expanded off-screen into fan experiences, concerts and more. It's also possible that Meghan will be turning her focus to other projects. The couple's Netflix press release about their latest deal included an announcement about a new documentary project, Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within. "In the heart of Uganda's Masaka region, where the shadows of the HIV/AIDS crisis linger, a small orphanage becomes a beacon of hope. Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within goes beyond the viral videos to reveal a vibrant, one-of-a-kind community where orphaned children transform hardship into joy, dancing their way toward healing, belonging, and the promise of a brighter future," said the release. This romantic drama follows a decade-spanning love story that begins with a chance encounter and a broken promise," the release stated. Bela Bajaria, Netflix's Chief Content Officer, said in a statement: 'Harry and Meghan are influential voices whose stories resonate with audiences everywhere.
