Bail hearing for Quebecers accused of terrorism
The Crown is opposing bail for Simon Angers-Audet, 24, Raphaël Lagacé, 25, and Marc-Aurèle Chabot, 24.
Lawyers for the three accused have requested a publication ban on details of the testimony provided to the court.
An RCMP investigator spent most of the day testifying on the witness stand.
The three accused are among four people arrested in July for allegedly trying to start an anti-government community north of Quebec City, and using a private Instagram account to recruit members.
A fourth accused — Matthew Forbes, 33 — is facing weapons charges and was granted bail last week under a lengthy list of conditions that include wearing a GPS tracking bracelet.
Angers-Audet, Lagacé and Chabot face charges of facilitating a terrorist activity, and other charges related to the illegal storage of firearms, and possession of explosives and prohibited devices.
Forbes, who is not charged with terrorism, and Chabot are active members of the Canadian Armed Forces.

U.S. man arrested trying to illegally enter Canada by kayak: police
Police in the Ontario town of LaSalle say they arrested a man from the U.S. trying to illegally enter Canada by kayak early Wednesday morning. LaSalle Police Service said an officer encountered the man shortly before 1 a.m. while conducting commercial property checks near the Detroit River. 'While checking the rear of a business, (the officer) saw a man at the water's edge of the Detroit River with two backpacks and a kayak,' a police statement said. 'The officer investigated and discovered the man was attempting to illegally enter Canada.' Police said the 51-year-old man was detained and turned over to the RCMP for further investigation. The man was already within Canada's boundary when he was detained. The Detroit River serves as a marine border between Ontario and Michigan. Story continues below advertisement LaSalle lies just south of Windsor and is part of the city's greater metropolitan area. The Ambassador Bridge, which is nine km away from where the man was arrested, serves as an economic and tourist connector between Windsor and Detroit. A new connector, the Georgie Howe International Bridge, opened last year just south of the Ambassador Bridge. 'This is an outstanding example demonstrating that proactive police work can yield unintended positive outcomes,' LaSalle Police Chief Michael Pearce said in a statement. 'While conducting a simple property check, I'm confident our officer did not expect to find someone trying to illegally enter Canada.'

Search for man who went missing near Wabowden in late June continues
Social Sharing Manitoba RCMP say they're still looking for a man who went missing near Wabowden, Man., over a month ago. Travis Bittern, 40, was last seen on June 27 at 9:45 a.m. walking southbound along Highway 6 about two kilometres south of the community. His family previously said he'd indicated he was heading to Kinosao Sipi Cree Nation (also known as Norway House), which is near the northern tip of Lake Winnipeg. Police said in an update Wednesday they've continued to investigate, but have been unable to locate the 40-year-old. The update said he was wearing a black t-shirt and blue plaid pyjama pants when he went missing, and that he has a tattoo of a feather on his right arm. Bittern is described as being six feet three inches tall and weighing 210 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police are now asking anyone who was travelling on the highway near Wabowden between 9:00 and 9:45 a.m. the day he went missing to contact RCMP at 204-689-2152 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers online or at 1-800-222-8477.

LaSalle police say it happened when an officer was conducting commercial property checks in the city's west end at around 1 a.m. They say the officer was checking the rear of a business when he spotted a man with two backpacks and a kayak at the shore of the Detroit River. Police allege the 51-year-old man from the United States was attempting to illegally enter Canada. Police say he was detained and turned over to the RCMP for further investigation.
