Man arrested on 7 charges after 120 mph pursuit in NE Nebraska
STANTON, Neb. (KCAU) — A Nebraska man was arrested Friday after allegedly leading police on a high-speed pursuit in northeast Nebraska while intoxicated.
According to the Stanton County Sheriff's Office, a pursuit began at about 2:15 a.m. on Friday, April 11. The Wayne Police Department initiated the chase after a black Ford Mustang fled west on Nebraska Highway 35 (N-35). This pursuit ended near Winside.
Later, the vehicle was seen again on N-35 by the Stanton County Sheriff's Office. The Mustang allegedly did not stop, instead turning back east and fleeing from police at over 120 mph. At one point, the driver 'recklessly disregarded' a stop sign and made a turn towards Wayne while driving at over 100 mph, a release says.

The vehicle was eventually spiked with a tire deflation device by Wayne police and stopped at the west edge of Wayne on N-35. The driver allegedly gave police a fake Wisconsin driver's license before giving his true identity: Treyton Smith, 20, of Springfield, Nebraska. He was also found to have been illegally drinking, according to the release.
Smith was booked into the Stanton County Jail later that day. He was charged with speeding 120+ in a 65 mph zone; operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest; willful reckless driving; driving while intoxicated; refusal to submit to chemical DWI test; false imprisonment; and possession of fake ID.
Additionally, police say a female passenger was in the vehicle and has been detained. She could possibly face charges as well.

(AP) — Country musician Conner Smith fatally hit a pedestrian while driving his truck in Nashville over the weekend, and he currently faces no charges as an investigation continues, police said. Metro Nashville Police said Smith, 24, hit Dorothy Dobbins, 77, Sunday evening while she was crossing the road inside a marked crosswalk. Dobbins, a retired attorney, later died at a hospital. The Tennessee Bar Association posted on its website that Dobbins had been out walking her dog when she was hit. Police say Smith showed no signs of impairment. They believe the 'preliminary contributing factor' appears to be that Smith did not yield the right of way to the pedestrian. Smith's attorney, Worrick Robinson, said his client is cooperating with the investigation.
