Internet services, SMS suspended - As per the official order from the Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Haryana, internet and mobile data services as well as bulk SMS services will remain suspended till 9 PM on Monday. Despite the suspension, SMS service related to banking services, mobile recharge and voice calls will continue.
Schools holiday announced - In view of the yatra, the state government has also called for the closure of all schools in the district on Monday. All schools - government and private - will remain closed for July 14.
"In the interest of student safety and convenience, all government and private schools in the Nuh district will remain closed on Monday, July 14. The District Education Officer has been directed to ensure compliance with the orders,'' read the order issued by Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena.
Ban on non-veg food - A ban on the sale, display or public hanging of non-vegetarian food such as meat, fish, etc., along the yatra route has been imposed
'The ban will be effective from 6am to midnight, covering the route from Nalhad Mahadev Temple to Zhirkeshwar Mahadev Temple in Ferozepur Jhirka and the Singar Temple in Singar village,' said Nuh deputy commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena. A similar order has been issued for shops and eateries around religious sites.
Drones, microlights and more banned - As part of its heightened security measures, the use of drones, microlights, aircraft, gliders, power gliders, hot air balloons, kite flying, Chinese microlights, and fireworks has also been suspended.
Why have restrictions been imposed?
The restrictions across the Haryana city comes due to clashes and violence around the yatra two years ago.
In 2023, violence had broke out during the yatra, when a Vishwa Hindu Parishad procession was attacked by a mob. The attack resulted in the deaths of five people, including two home guards. Furthermore, in Gurugram, a naib imam was killed at a mosque amid a series of incidents of arson.
The communal clashes in Nuh also led to at least 200 reported injuries.

Hailing from Mansa district, Maan began her political career after the AAP in July 2020. According to her 2022 poll affidavit, Maan has studied till Class 12, the report said. Before taking a plunge into politics, Maan had made her name in the Punjabi music industry. She sang many songs like 'Suit', 'Ghaint Purpose', 'Sherni', 'Zamantan', 'Golden Girl', 'Royal Jatti', 'Red Fulkari' and 'Velly'. She later became AAP youth wing co-president and actively participated in the party's protest programmes and took on the then Congress regime before the assembly polls, the report said. She also sang a campaign song – 'Kejriwal hai' – for the Aam Aadmi Party before the 2022 assembly elections. Before the 2022 assembly polls, Maan had said that if AAP comes to power, the government would give the MSP on each crop 'within five minutes'. The opposition leaders used her video statement to target the AAP after it failed to fulfil the promise. She had accused administrative officers in Mohali of seeking bribes in her name in September 2024. She had levelled allegations against executive officers and tehsildars of Kharar of bringing disrespect to her. 2 girl students step in as Jorhat DC, ADC for a day
Agency: PTI Jorhat, Jul 19 (PTI) Two girl students in Assam's Jorhat district on Saturday served as the district commissioner (DC) and additional deputy commissioner for the day. Both were winners of an essay competition on the topic 'One day as district commissioner', conducted as a part of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' programme. The contest was open for girls of 14-25 years, with winners to get a chance to serve as DC or ADC for a day, along with other prizes. Jorhat DC Jay Shivani said the initiative was aimed at encouraging young girls to take an interest in governance. While postgraduate student Geetashree Sharma served as the district commissioner (DC), class 9 student Sanshita Baruah worked as the additional district commissioner (ADC) for the day, with both gathering an experience of a lifetime. 'This initiative was meant to encourage young girls to develop an interest in governance and aim high. Geetashree and Sanshita proved to be very capable, showing active interest in the happenings and posing questions whenever they were in doubt," Shivani said. The DC said they attended a video conference with the Chief Secretary and took an overview of the various responsibilities of the district commissioner's office. Geetashree, a student of CKB Commerce College in Jorhat, said it was a unique experience for her. 'It was a rare opportunity to observe the working of the highest office in the district from close quarters. We were explained how the policies work and decisions are implemented," she said. Government Plans To Acquire Key Lakshadweep Island For Defence Purposes
Last Updated: The government plans to acquire Bitra Island in Lakshadweep for defense, citing its strategic location. An SIA has been initiated, causing concern among residents. The central government is considering to acquire Bitra Island, one of the 10 inhabited isles in the Lakshadweep archipelago, for defence purposes. Lakshadweep Revenue Department has also issued a notification for a social impact assessment (SIA) for the Bitra island. The notice, issued last week, stated that the purpose of the assessment is to transfer the entire island to defence and strategic agencies owing to its 'strategic location" and 'national security relevance", news agency PTI reported. 'The initiative is necessitated by the strategic location of the island, its national security relevance, and the inherent logistical and administrative challenges associated with civilian habitation," the notification issued by the department on July 11 stated. It added that the territorial administration would take over the island and an SIA is required under the provisions of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. The Department of Revenue has been named the project developer, and the survey will cover the full extent of land proposed for acquisition. MP Opposes Move Lakshadweep MP Hamdullah Syeed strongly criticised the administration's move and called it an attempt to disrupt peace in the region. 'This decision will be opposed tooth and nail. The government cannot just take over an entire inhabited island without proper consultation or sensitivity to the lives of its residents. As your MP, we held a conference that included leaders from Bitra and Lakshadweep and discussed it in detail. We have decided to fight with the people of Bitra, politically and legally," he said. He added that the government has already acquired lands for defence purposes on several islands. The proposed takeover has triggered alarm among Bitra's small population of around 105 families, who now face the prospect of losing their land and being displaced from their ancestral home. Bitra is an island covering around 91,700 sq m (0.091 sq km) and has a population of around 350. Residents said that the move could impact the fishing population across the Lakshadweep atolls, as Bitra Island has a 45 sq km lagoon area that is primarily used by fishermen from Bitra and other islands, Hindustan Times reported. 'If there is any move to displace people, we will fight it legally. There are around 350 persons here, including children, all dependent on fishing and coconut plantations. There is a school and a health centre in Bitra too. Fishermen from other islands also come here because of the abundance of lagoon fish, tuna, and groupers," a resident told the news outlet. Naval Base In Lakshadweep Last year, the Ministry of Defence announced the commissioning of a new naval base, INS Jatayu, in Lakshadweep's Minicoy island. They are scattered in the Arabian Sea at distance of 220 to 440 kilometres off the west coast of Kerala. The islands are designated as restricted area and permit from the Union Territory of Lakshadweep Administration (UTLA) is required to visit the islands. People here mainly depend on water transport for movement between the islands and the mainland.
