Moto G96 5G with Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor launching in India on 9 July: Here's what to expect
Moto G96 is confirmed to feature a 6.67 inch Full HD+ OLED display with 144Hz refresh rate. The display is expected to come with a peak brightness of 1,600 nits and covered by the Corning's Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top.
Much like other Motorola phones, the G96 will also come with IP68 water and dust resistance rating, meaning it should potentially be able to handle being submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.
The phone will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor which also powers the likes of Motorola Edge 60 Stylus, Edge 60 Fusion and the Poco X6.
As for optics, the phone will come 50MP Sony LYT-700C primary shooter and an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens. There could also be a 32MP shooter on the front for taking selfies and attending video calls.
It should come running on Motorola's Hello UI based on Android 15. While there is no confirmation on the update cycle yet, if Motorola follows its pattern this year, the phone could feature 3 years of promised OS updates and 4 years of security patches.
It is confirmed to pack a 5,500mAh battery with support for 68W of wired fast charging. There is no update yet, however, on if it will also support wireless charging or not. Although considering that the phone is expected launch around the ₹ 20,000 price point, wireless charging does seem unlikely.
The phone will feature a plastic frame and an in-display fingerprint scanner for unlocking the device.

Corning staves off antitrust fine as EU regulators accept concessions to mobile phone makers
By Foo Yun Chee BRUSSELS: EU antitrust regulators on Friday accepted glass maker Corning 's offer to waive exclusive deals with mobile phone makers and glass processing companies and scrap purchasing clauses to end an eight-month long investigation and stave off a possible fine. The U.S. company, which sells a break resistant glass used as a cover for mobile phones, tablets and smart watches under the Gorilla Glass brand, counts Samsung , Sony , Google, HP, Dell and Nokia as its customers. Apple is reportedly a customer too. Corning submitted concessions to the European Commission in November last year. Corning has now agreed "to waive all exclusive dealing clauses in all its current agreements with OEMs (original equipement makers) and finishers", the EU antitrust enforcer said in a statement. It will also not require OEMs to purchase, or cause their supply chain to purchase, more than 50% of their demand from the company. The offer is valid for 9 years. EU antitrust violations can cause companies as much as 10% of their turnover.

Samsung tri-fold phone likely to offer same top-tier performance as Galaxy Z Fold 7
Samsung's first tri-fold phone is getting closer to launch, and more details are slowly starting to surface. The latest one is about the chipset that will power the device, and it's the same one found in the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold 7. According to an Android Headlines report, the information comes from the internal beta version of One UI 8, which revealed a code string referring to both the tri-fold's internal codename and the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. While many expected Samsung to go with Qualcomm for this phone, the confirmation is still notable, as it shows the company is planning to give the tri-fold true flagship-level internal codename for the tri-fold phone is Q7M, and that name was spotted alongside the Snapdragon 8 Elite model number — SM8750 — within One UI 8's system files. This suggests that the phone is being actively tested on the latest version of Android, which is Android 16, and will likely launch with Samsung's new One UI 8 skin on top. Given that Samsung now promises seven years of software and security updates for its top-end devices, it's reasonable to expect the same for the tri-fold Galaxy Z TriFold name was also recently filed as a trademark by Samsung, which has fuelled speculation around what the final name of the product might be. While some feel this may not be the final branding, it's clearly one of the options the company is considering. Either way, the tri-fold is expected to be a major step forward in foldable phone design, with a form factor that uses two hinges and opens up to reveal a larger 10-inch screen inside. Unlike Huawei's outward-folding approach with the Mate X series, Samsung is expected to keep the foldable display on the inside, which should offer better durability. A smaller cover display will sit on the outside for regular phone use, while the large inner screen will unfold like a tablet. Early leaks suggest the phone will also include three rear cameras, though the exact camera specs remain under wraps for Samsung tri-fold phone isn't expected to come cheap. According to previous reports, the price could go up to $2,900, which is roughly Rs 2.5 lakh. It may also be a limited release at first, likely restricted to China and South Korea. A wider global launch could follow later if the first-gen model does well. For now, the phone is rumoured to launch in October 2025.- Ends
