'Desert Dawn'
Newly sworn-in Sheriff Luke Easton (Kellan Lutz) and his deputy John Sites (Cam Gigandet) are thrust into a dangerous investigation into a woman's murder. They uncover
ties to local power players and a sinister cartel.
This crime drama makes plenty of twists as the lawmen pursue justice. The action lands without going overboard, and the movie's stance against corruption emphasizes a positive message. The lead actors bring grit to a story that leans on atmosphere as much as tension. A solid watch for fans of thrillers with a purpose.

Travis Kelce's 'New Heights' Beats Joe Rogan in Top Podcast Chart
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast is the No. 1 show on Apple Podcasts' chart, surpassing Joe Rogan's show. Newsweek reached out to Kelce and Rogan's representatives via email for comment on Wednesday. Why It Matters The Kansas City Chiefs star, 35, co-hosts New Heights alongside his brother, Jason Kelce. Last year, the siblings reportedly signed a $100 million deal with Wondery, a podcast streamer owned by Amazon. Rogan, 58, is one of the most popular global podcast hosts. His show, The Joe Rogan Experience, often tops Spotify's podcast charts. (L) Travis Kelce speaks onstage during Amazon Upfronts in New York City on May 12, 2025. (R) Joe Rogan does standup comedy in Pasadena, California, on July 1, 2017. (L) Travis Kelce speaks onstage during Amazon Upfronts in New York City on May 12, 2025. (R) Joe Rogan does standup comedy in Pasadena, California, on July 1, Amazon; Michael Schwartz/WireImage What To Know On Tuesday, Kelce's girlfriend, pop star Taylor Swift, announced her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, in a teaser video for her upcoming New Heights appearance. "So I wanted to show you something," she said, before pulling the blurred album out of a mint green and orange briefcase. "This is my brand new album The Life of a Showgirl." "TS 12!" Travis Kelce said, referring to the billionaire's 12th studio album, while Jason Kelce screamed. As of August 13, New Heights is No. 1 on Apple Podcasts' Top Shows Chart in the United States, followed by The New York Times' The Daily, Crime Junkie and Dateline NBC. The Joe Rogan Experience currently comes in at No. 5. However, on Spotify's Top Podcasts Chart in the U.S. for August 13, The Joe Rogan Experience is No. 1, and New Heights is not on the list at all. What People Are Saying Travis and Jason Kelce's dad, Ed Kelce, said on Australia's Today: "I knew nothing about this announcement, I knew at some point the boys wanted to get her on the podcast, I didn't know when it was coming up, though. I know Taylor's been working pretty hard since she stopped the tour, she's taken a few breaks to watch some football games, but she's been out in L.A. working on this album. And my guess is, although I haven't heard anything, my guess is it's going to be like everything else she does—it's going to be beautiful." English singer Jade responded to a fan on TikTok who said she should open the "life of a showgirl tour.": "Would love." Swift fan @fearlesskait, in a post on X with 2 million views and 36,000 likes: "The colour scheme is copper oxidizing because a showgirl is on a pedestal for the world and over time, in the public eye they lose their shine... the weathering from being the target for the world's misogyny. #TheLifeOfAShowgirl" What Happens Next Swift's New Heights episode airs Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET on platforms including the Wondery App, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube. New episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience are released weekly on platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube.

This Is When Taylor Swift's 'New Heights' Podcast Episode Drops
Every item on this page was chosen by an ELLE editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy. THE RUNDOWN True to form, Taylor Swift has once again sent the world into a fevered frenzy with the surprise announcement of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. Swift's marketing machine kicked into high gear on Monday night when her website transformed into a glittering orange spectacle, complete with a countdown timer ticking toward 12:12 A.M. on August 12. The numerical symbolism wasn't lost on devoted Swifties, who've learned to decode every easter egg the artist drops. When the countdown hit zero, Swift's website predictably crashed under the weight of millions of eager fans before re-booting with sparse details about the mysterious new project. It was the star's appearance on her partner Travis Kelce's podcast, however, that delivered the money shot. In a teaser clip, Swift dramatically opens a briefcase to reveal a blurred vinyl while declaring, 'This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl.' The full episode is coming out very soon—and is bound to contain much more information about the project. Swift's debut podcast appearance on Travis Kelce's New Heights will be released at 7 P.M. ET on August 13. You can watch the podcast here on its YouTube channel. You can also hear it on Spotify or Apple Podcasts. Swift hasn't revealed the release date yet. However, pre-orders indicate shipping by October 13. Swift's team has emphasized this isn't the actual release date, and Swift could very well share it tonight.

Kenshin Kamimura convicted of indecent assault, but avoided jail time in Hong Kong
Japanese pop idol Kenshin Kamimura was found guilty of a charge of indecent assault on a female interpreter in a Hong Kong court on Wednesday before some emotional fans. Kamimura, a former member of a Japanese boy group named ONE N' ONLY, was arrested in the southern Chinese city of March. In the same month, his contract was terminated due to a serious compliance violation. In April, he pleaded not guilty. 4 Japanese pop idol Kenshin Kamimura was found guilty of a charge of indecent assault on a female interpreter in a Hong Kong court on Wednesday. AFP via Getty Images He allegedly touched the interpreter's thigh repeatedly during a celebratory dinner at a restaurant. During the trial last month, the interpreter testified through a live video link that Kamimura had invited her to a bathroom elsewhere. After she dismissed the request and told him she had a boyfriend, Kamimura continued to touch her thigh, she said. The defense argued the interpreter exaggerated her claims, and the alleged bathroom invitation might not have been based on improper motives. Judge Peter Yu handed down the conviction on Wednesday, saying Kamimura touched the interpreter in a caressing manner that implicitly carried a sexual undertone and had indecent intent. 'The defendant's acts are obviously disrespectful toward women,' Yu said. 'Such behavior should be condemned.' 4 Kamimura, a former member of a Japanese boy group named ONE N' ONLY, was arrested in the southern Chinese city of March. AP In pleading for a lesser penalty, the defense said Kamimura previously had a promising future and paid a heavy price. After the verdict was announced, a few of Kamimura's fans wept in the courtroom. But Kamimura looked relieved and hugged his courtroom translator when the judge issued a fine of 15,000 Hong Kong dollars (about $1,900) and no prison term. The maximum penalty for the charge is 10 years of imprisonment. The singer's supporters, including some from Japan and mainland China, formed long lines inside the court building to secure a seat in the main courtroom before the hearing. 4 Judge Peter Yu handed down the conviction on Wednesday, saying Kamimura touched the interpreter in a caressing manner that implicitly carried a sexual undertone and had indecent intent. AP After the hearing, they waited outside to see Kamimura, who did not speak before leaving in a car. Others from mainland China who attended said they were not fans but wanted to learn more about the case, especially after seeing criticism of the female interpreter online. University student Betty Zhong from the Chinese city of Shenzhen said she was not a Kamimura fan but attended the court hearings in Hong Kong because a friend likes the J-pop idol and she wanted to know what happened. 4 Fans of J-pop performer Kenshin Kamimura wait outside the West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts in Hong Kong on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. AP She said she was surprised Kamimura was charged during a visit to Hong Kong. 'News reports are not so comprehensive. When I come here, I can understand it holistically and the explanations from both sides,' she said. Kamimura is also an actor who appeared in several TV dramas, including the boys' love series 'Our Youth' and the popular drama 'Ossan's Love Returns.'
