Wedding of the Week: Torc Mountain proposal and Dingle vows for West Cork couple
They had just returned to Ireland after hiking through some of Vietnam's steepest terrains. So you'd imagine West Cork duo Therese Hurley and David Harrington would have a little downtime in their sights.
You'd think. 'He made me climb up Torc Mountain in Killarney,' says Therese.

Summit reached, David sank to one knee to pop the question. And no sooner were they running down that Kerry hill than they were rising to their next adrenaline-pumped challenge — organising the big day of their dreams.
'Once we got engaged, I couldn't wait to plan the wedding, so we decided, let's do it!' says Therese, from Glengarriff. 'We had a very short engagement — only seven months from that day, July 11, 2024.'
Therese, who works in finance, and David, a secondary school teacher, started dating almost a decade ago.

'I was working behind a bar in Glengarriff when we first set eyes on each other, but our first meet-up was in Havana Browns nightclub in Cork City,' says Therese.
The couple have lived in Glengarriff for the past five years, but the Kingdom beckoned once again for their 'I dos' as Therese and David, from Adrigole, were wed in St Mary's Church in Dingle, by Fr Michael Moynihan and held their reception in the Dingle Skellig Hotel.

'We wanted somewhere far enough away from home that it could be treated like a mini-holiday for ourselves and everyone. The minute we landed into the outstanding Dingle Skellig [during the search for a reception venue], we knew it was the venue for us.'
Celebrating with them on their big day were the bride's father, Gerard Hurley, and the groom's parents, Margaret and William Harrington, and his grandmother, Mary Harrington. Very much in their thoughts on the occasion was the bride's mother, the late Theresa Hurley.

The bride and groom chauffeured themselves. 'It was lovely to be able to have time for ourselves,' says Therese.
'We had the amazing Sirona Strings in the church and drinks reception followed by the super Bentley Boys for our band and DJ.'
Dawn [O'Connor], Dingle Blooms, created the floral décor. 'We had the best day, it was relaxed and fun and chilled out,' adds Therese.

Little details spark big memories. 'People are still talking about the delicious ham rolls at the drinks reception!' says the bride.
Therese's sisters, Mary Hilda Hurley, Brid Hurley and Kathleen Hurley, were her bridesmaids, David's brother Liam Harrington was his best man, and his friends Connie O'Shea and Eoin Green O'Sullivan were the groomsmen.

'We had our nieces and nephews as flowergirls and pageboys, Tess Creedon, Hailey Harrington, Colm and Gerard Whooley and Fiadh Whooley,' adds Therese.
The bride sourced her dress from Say I Do in Midleton. 'In other places, I was considered a 'rush bride', but not in Say I Do. Once we settled on the design I wanted, it was then sent off to Barcelona and designed by the amazing Jesus Peiro, so it was a very personal dress for me,' says Therese.

'I loved my dress. I wanted to be 'me' and it was me. The lads' suits were all from Simply Suits, Co Cork, where the staff were also amazing.'
Therese's makeup artist was Annette O'Brien, and the bridal hairstylist was Tricia. O'Sullivan.
Husband-and-wife team Dave Olsthoorn and Laurie Brosnan of Awake & Dreaming ( awakeanddreamingweddings.com) captured the wedding on camera, and Seaforest Films provided the videography.

'We enjoyed our 'day two' in Paul Geaney's bar in Dingle, where we kept the party going,' says the bride.
The newlyweds holidayed in Lanzarote after the wedding and look forward to their honeymoon in the coming months.

House fire that killed girl and father ‘could have been started by tumble dryer'
An 11-year-old girl has also been left fighting for her life in hospital after the blaze broke out in Heckmondwike on Sunday. Medics tried to save the father's life but he died at the scene in Russell Close, while the nine-year-old was taken to hospital but died later that day. Flowers have been left at the scene following the fire, which killed a man and his daughter (Danny Lawson/PA) It is believed the girls' mother was away on pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia and returned to the UK on Monday. West Yorkshire Police said it is still investigating the cause of the fire. Darren O'Donovan, a councillor for Dewsbury West and chairman of the fire authority, said the blaze could have been started by a tumble dryer. Mr O'Donovan said: 'It's clearly a tragic event for the family and people that live in that neighbourhood. 'My thoughts and condolences go out to the family and those affected by this. 'We believe that the fire started about an hour before the 999 call came in.' He said early indications suggested 'the fire started in the kitchen area and its ignition source was a tumble dryer.' 'There are a number of tumble dryers that have been recalled by a number of manufacturers,' he added. 'That's the tragedy: this was just a local family on a very regular street in Heckmondwike and a tragic accident has taken place. 'I think the community is rallying and pulling together to support other members of the family and friends that are affected by this.' Early investigations have suggested that the fire may have been started by a tumble dryer (Danny Lawson/PA) Councillor Ali Arshad, who represents Heckmondwike on Kirklees Council as a member of the Kirklees Community Independents Group, said the family of the victims were 'absolutely amazing people'. 'They keep themselves to themselves and are always cheery and willing to help', he said. He said: 'I think the key thing is to get the mother and daughter united. That's going to be difficult.' Councillor Viv Kendrick, who represents the Heckmondwike ward, said: 'I'm just horrified for the family and their friends and the local community. 'It's a close-knit community. The people all know each other.' West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said it sent four crews to tackle the blaze, which was reported at around 6am. Emergency services at the scene on Russell Close in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire (Danny Lawson/PA) Det Insp Paul Greatorex, of West Yorkshire Police, said: 'We are continuing to work with colleagues at the fire service to investigate this dreadfully sad incident, which has resulted in a father and daughter losing their lives. 'Extensive inquiries have been ongoing since yesterday and we have been working to locate and support relatives of the victims both here and outside of the UK at what is clearly an awful time for the family. 'While our inquiries remain ongoing, we do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances regarding the cause of the fire and will be preparing a file for the coroner in due course. 'Our support for the family involved clearly also still continues.' Cllr O'Donovan said that the fire and rescue service would have an increased presence in the neighbourhood over the next few days to speak with neighbours about fire prevention measures. He encouraged people to check they had working smoke alarms, a night-time routine which included turning off electrical equipment and closing internal doors and to check the recall lists for tumble dryers from brands including Hoover, Haier, Candy, Lamona, Capel, Baumatic, Montpellier and Iberna.

Jamie Laing has admitted that his sex life with wife Sophie Habboo 's became 'clinical' when they started trying for a baby. The TV personality, 36, and podcast star Sophie, 30, recently announced they are expecting their first child earlier this month, and now Jamie has revealed that the pressure to try and conceive changed how he performed in the bedroom. The former Made in Chelsea star explained on the couple's NearlyParents podcast: 'I found it complicated. I don't know why I found it complicated. I just found it complicated at that moment. 'It was a tricky time. I think lots of men probably go through that. They find it complicated to perform, because when you're first doing it, you're like, "Oh my God, this is quite an intense moment". I found, anyway. 'So then when you even start trying for it, I didn't realise how clinical the whole thing is,' Jamie added. The couple recently announced they are expecting their first child, and now Jamie has revealed that the pressure to try and conceive changed how he performed in the bedroom 'As soon as we started trying, it was like, "OK, we've got to go clinical like, this isn't like sexy time".' He continued: 'Nothing about it was sexy, nothing about it was cute, nothing about it was romantic. And every single one of my friends that I've spoken to, I would say 99 per cent of my friends have said it all. 'They were like, "Dude, you're basically used as some sort of funnel". That's the grossest way. There's nothing sexy about it.' Jamie admitted it was like a switch went off in his head when he knew he was having sex to create a baby as opposed to doing it for enjoyment with Sophie. He explained: 'As soon as I started to give it a go, and you're like, "Right. We're gonna try for babies", something changed in my head [and] then my body closed off. 'I don't know what happened in my head. Something clicked off. It was weird, and I've spoken to a lot of my friends, that happened to them as well. 'And then it became almost like PTSD in my whole mind, that this couldn't happen as soon as we're like, "We're doing this". 'It's scary. So, this thing goes on, which I think happens with a lot of different people, when they're trying for it.' Elsewhere in the episode, Sophie opened up on their pregnancy journey so far and revealed some of the struggles she'd been dealing. She confessed that when her second trimester, she felt like she was 'dying' and was dealing with a lot of hormones that made her frequently feel irritated, quipping: 'This girl has gone from a bit of a b***h to don't come near me.' She explained: 'Up until week eight, I was smooth sailing. No good aversions, no sickness, so much energy, I was like what is every talking about this is unbelievable. 'Week eight hit and everyone's starting to grate to me a bit. Like that man sat next to me on the plane breathing, like is it illegal if I punch him in the face? 'If you're a fan of the podcast, I love you so much but you're not going to like me if you meet me at the moment.' Jamie, 36, then admitted to struggling to get his head around Sophie's mood changes with pregnancy, recalling: 'I asked Sophie if she had any cravings and she said, 'No, the only craving I have is hating you'. 'I then spent an evening on Reddit looking at "Why does your wife hate her husband so much when they're pregnant". He went on: 'Sophie is teaching me to drive and I'm a little bit nervous in the car and she goes "You're a s**t driver". I'm literally in my head going "Oh my god she's hasn't eaten this is really scary". 'Sophie then gets so angry she says to me "I'm so angry I want to drive us both into the back of this car and kill us". And then she started crying!' Sophie confessed that the 'anger is uncontrollable' but that it 'was very fleeting' as she lamented how her 'enormous t*ts' also meant she couldn't fit in any of her clothes. While Jamie then candidly told listeners how he owed her a real apology after not taking her hormones seriously and threatening to leave her over her 'grumpiness'. Sophie said: 'Jamie was like "Oh you're just milking it, you fake all your hormones, there's no such thing". He went "Oh you're just faking all of this." I was like "Oh my god" as I'm lying there with my enormous t*ts out and I can't fit into a single thing.' Recalling the incident in question, she went on: 'We are leaving and I feel really sick this day and Jamie gets his camera out and goes "I'm going to vlog today". Like on my Sunday that I'm about to vomit all day long. 'And what happened was Jamie sits down and he goes "I'm going to call my friends and ask them what I should do about this. Because I'm going to have to leave you. I'm going to leave you because you're just so unbearable right now."' Jokingly pretending to break down in tears, she went: And I went "You're going to leave me and I'm pregnant".' In defence of his actions, Jamie quickly added: 'The amount of people who are going to call me an a*****e. Just a caveat to add - I had no idea the emotional journey that you go on, how your body changes. 'I just didn't understand the extreme things that go on and since having read stuff on Instagram, I am awe of what you go through. The hormone change is wild.' Showing their Chelsea roots, the couple also revealed that Sophie's worst craving so far was for caviar, recounting how they had dashed round London trying to find a shop that was open at 8pm. Jamie explained they eventually found a caviar store only to discover a single pot cost £240, as he declared: 'I was like "Well that craving has to stop there and then".
