Hozier's Historic Smash Has Finally Been Replaced At No. 1

Forbesa day ago
Hozier started his career by releasing one of the biggest rock hits in recent memory. 'Take Me to Church' launched him into superstardom all around the world, and then for many years, it seemed as if it would remain his only major global smash.
In 2024, the Irish singer-songwriter returned with 'Too Sweet,' which brought him back to charts globally and even helped him rise to new heights on several Billboard rankings. After a historic run on one of the company's rock rankings, 'Too Sweet' finally steps back, as Hozier is replaced by one of the hottest newcomers in music.
Sombr Jumps to No. 1
Sombr leads the Hot Rock Songs chart, Billboard's list of the most consumed rock tracks in the United States. His single 'Undressed' surges from the runner-up spot to No. 1 in its twentieth frame on the tally.
'Undressed' Replaces 'Too Sweet' at No. 1
'Undressed' replaces 'Too Sweet' atop the Hot Rock Songs chart. Hozier's smash has now spent 72 frames on the genre-specific ranking — 70 of which have been in first place. That's a historic run on any Billboard roster, and even if the tune never returns, Hozier will likely forever claim one of the longest-running rock No. 1s of all time.
Hozier's Smash Lives Inside the Top 10
'Too Sweet' remains a top 10 hit on five different Billboard charts at the moment, even 72 frames into its lifespan on each and every one of them. The track sits highest on the Hot Rock Songs list and also appears on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, Hot Alternative Songs, Alternative Streaming Songs, and Rock Streaming Songs charts, coming in at No. 4 on the first two rosters and Nos. 8 and 10 on the latter two, respectively.
Sombr Scores the Two Biggest Rock Hits
Sombr has a lot to celebrate when it comes to the Hot Rock Songs chart. Not only does 'Undressed' become a No. 1, but 'Back to Friends' follows closely, as it improves from No. 3 to second place, meaning he controls the highest two spaces on the same tally.
Amazingly, of the 25 spaces on the Hot Rock Songs list, Sombr fills four. In addition to his top 10s, new single '12 to 12' leaps from No. 16 to No. 13 in its second frame on the ranking, while 'We Never Dated' reenters at No. 25.

Quentin Tarantino Opens Up About Why He 'Pulled the Plug' on THE MOVIE CRITIC — GeekTyrant

Quentin Tarantino is still on the hunt for his final film, and now we finally shares why The Movie Critic didn't make the cut. The legendary director had previously teased the project as his tenth and final movie, and fans were eager to see what kind of cinematic mic drop he had in store. But as it turns out, Tarantino decided to walk away from the project even after writing the full script. On The Church of Tarantino podcast, Tarantino opened up about why he ultimately scrapped the film. 'No one's waiting for this thing per se. I mean, I can do it whenever I want. I mean, it's already written. So OK, let me just not start it right now,' he explained. 'Let me try writing it as a movie and let me see if it's better that way. And I was like, 'Oh, OK, no, I think this is going to be the movie.' And then it wasn't. I pulled the plug on it. And the reason I pulled the plug, it's a little crazy.' The idea for The Movie Critic began as an eight-part limited series, which Tarantino then shaped into a feature film script. While he admits he was hyped about the writing process, the energy didn't carry over to pre-production. 'I was so excited about the writing, but I wasn't really that excited about dramatizing what I wrote once we were in pre-production.' That lack of enthusiasm wasn't the only red flag. Tarantino also challenged himself with the subject matter, which centered around a seemingly mundane profession. 'But there was a challenge that I gave to myself when I did it. Can I take the most boring profession in the world and make it an interesting movie?' he said. 'Every Tarantino title promises so much, except The Movie Critic . Who wants to see a TV show about a f*ing movie critic? Who wants to see a movie called The Movie Critic ? If I can actually make a movie or a TV show about somebody who watches movies interesting, that is an accomplishment.' Set in 1977 California, the story was reportedly inspired by a real-life, lesser-known writer who reviewed movies for a porn magazine. Despite earlier reports that it would be a continuation of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood , Tarantino shut that down hard. 'It's a spiritual sequel to Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood in so far as they take place in the same world and they take place in the same town. But there were no crossover characters. Cliff Booth was never in The Movie Critic . That's all a bunch of bull**. That never was the case ever, ever, ever.' That hasn't stopped Brad Pitt's character Cliff Booth from living on. While The Movie Critic is no longer on the table, Pitt is reprising his role in Netflix's upcoming film The Adventures of Cliff Booth , directed by David Fincher. So what's next for Tarantino's final movie? That remains a mystery. According to sources, he's gone back to the drawing board, looking for a new idea that will truly excite him and his fans. I'd still like to see what Tarantino had planned for The Movie Critic . He should just go back to his original plan and develop it as a series. Then it wouldn't count as his finale film. Jenna Ortega's ‘Winter Spring Summer Or Fall' Gets Paramount+ Date

Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega and Percy Hynes White's romantic drama Winter Spring Summer Or Fall is coming soon to streaming on Paramount+ Premium. Directed by Tiffany Paulsen, Winter Spring Summer or Fall opened in limited release and made its debut on digital streaming via premium video on demand on April 25. The official summary for the film reads, 'Remi (Jenna Ortega) has her future figured out - Harvard in the fall, making her parents proud, and following the path she's always expected to take. 'Then she meets Barnes (Hynes White), who lives for the moment and makes her question everything. As their love story unfolds through the summer, Remi faces a choice - stick to the plan she's always known or risk it all for a life she never saw coming.' Paramount Streaming announced on Monday that Winter Spring Summer Or Fall will debut on Paramount+ Premium on Sept. 1. Paramount+ Premium is the ad-free and costs $12.99 per month after a free seven-day trial. 'Winter Spring Summer Or Fall' Director Says The Film Has Wide Appeal While Winter Spring Summer or Fall will no doubt be of interest to Jenna Ortega's fan base thanks to her success in Wednesday and her roles in Scream, Scream VI and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Tiffany Paulsen believes the romance aspect is the reason why the film should appeal to all audiences. 'One of the beautiful things about this movie is, yes it's Jenna's audience and you could say it's a Y/A love story, but we also felt we were crossing genres and crossing [the boundaries of] where you might put [the movie] a certain age category,' Paulsen said in a Zoom conversation prior to the film's 2024 debut at the Tribeca Film Festival. 'We were all in high school and all felt those feels, so we feel like it's this familiar, warm macaroni and cheese love story to everyone — not just putting it in this box as a teen love story,' Paulsen said. 'It feels very timeless and that was the magic for me of what John Hughes did and Cameron Crowe did. They really made films for everybody. Not just teens.' Rated R, Winter Spring Summer or Fall, which also stars Adam Rodriguez and Marisol Nichols as Remi's parents, Javier and Carmen, debuts on Paramount+ Premium on Sept. 1.
