Swedish FA condemns spectator's attempted assault on Osters player during match
The Swedish FA issued a statement of condemnation on Friday after a top-tier match between IFK Gothenburg and Osters IF was marred when a spectator attempted to assault an Osters player.
The incident, which led to a temporary halt in the match, has sparked outrage with the FA adding they would review the match delegate's report.
During the league match at Gamla Ullevi stadium, an individual stormed the pitch minutes after visitors Osters scored, attempting to punch defender Sebastian Starke Hedlund from behind.
Hedlund managed to dodge the blow, leading to a pause of about an hour in the match, which was subsequently restarted despite objections from Osters.
"I am very upset. My players are very upset. That we wanted to go home is an understatement," said Osters coach Martin Foyston, adding that his team would have faced a 3-0 loss had they not completed the match as per league rules, which state that a temporarily halted game must be completed within 24 hours.
The Swedish FA said in a statement that it "strongly condemns the serious foul play that occurred during the match ... last night, when a person entered the pitch and attacked a player.
"The Swedish Football Association's legal department is now awaiting the match delegate's report, which will be processed according to current procedures."
Swedish media reported that the perpetrator was detained by security and handed over to police, with an investigation currently underway.
"He will in all likelihood be suspended for a considerable period of time and that will of course also result in an organiser suspension. He will be banned from entering and so on," Jonas Arlmark, IFK Gothenburg's security manager, told Expressen.
In a statement released on Friday, IFK Gothenburg condemned the incident as "beyond the limit and unacceptable."

Forum: Rely on surveillance technology for night security in school buildings
It is very puzzling to see the lights in many school buildings switched on every night. I understand that the primary reason is security. But I believe that with the latest in surveillance technology, there should not be a need to switch on so many lights. Instead, perhaps only the lights along the common corridors should be activated. Deployment of more advanced surveillance equipment can help deal with suspicious activity. Such surveillance devices can be linked to school personnel, who can in turn request assistance from the neighbourhood police if needed. I hope that the relevant authorities can come together to maintain security in schools and, at the same time, reduce usage of electricity with better surveillance equipment. Forum: Restore locker facilities at ActiveSG stadiums
I want to express my profound frustration and disappointment with the recent removal of locker facilities at ActiveSG stadiums managed by Sport Singapore (SportSG). As a resident of Chua Chu Kang, I have long relied on my neighbourhood stadium for my regular runs. However, I stopped going to my local stadium due to its no-locker policy. I initially thought this was only at ActiveSG Choa Chu Kang Stadium, but imagine my dismay when I recently visited Bukit Gombak Stadium and discovered that it, too, had discontinued locker facilities. In the past, these stadiums provided small locker cubicles for rent at just 20 cents, allowing users like myself to securely store valuables. This was extremely convenient and beneficial for many, as I dislike running with my phone in my hand or carrying valuables in my pockets. I find it perplexing that such a simple yet essential amenity has been discontinued. The absence of lockers discourages me and, I am sure, others from using the facilities and makes exercising less comfortable. I strongly urge SportSG and the relevant authorities to reconsider this policy.
