Perikatan Nasional has denied any involvement in the originating summons filed by former minister P Waythamoorthy, who is challenging the legitimacy of Anwar Ibrahim's status as an MP and prime minister. PN not involved in Waytha's suit against PM, says Takiyuddin
PAS MP Takiyuddin Hassan said lawyer P Waytha Moorthy filed the suit against Anwar Ibrahim in his personal capacity and without PN's involvement. KUALA LUMPUR : Opposition chief whip Takiyuddin Hassan today said that Perikatan Nasional (PN) was not involved in the lawsuit brought by lawyer P Waytha Moorthy against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. He said the lawsuit was brought personally by Waytha, the Malaysian Advancement Party president. 'As Malaysians, we respect his right to bring this matter to court. Let the courts decide the matter,' he told a press conference at the Dewan Rakyat. Two days ago, Pakatan Harapan (PH) MP Syahredzan Johan asked whether the suit filed by Waytha was connected to his recent meeting with Bersatu leaders. Waytha, along with the leaders of other political parties outside the government bloc, had met Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin to discuss the formation of a united opposition front. Waytha is seeking a declaration that Anwar should not have been elected as Tambun MP in November 2022 and appointed prime minister. Syahredzan said that while anyone has the right to file court proceedings, the suit against Anwar appeared 'frivolous and vexatious' as the latter has been prime minister for close to three years. He also noted that Waytha had previously hailed Anwar, the PH chairman, as the best man to head the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit or Mitra. Earlier today, Jelutong MP RSN Rayer said that Waytha's action was time-barred, as petitions to challenge election results under the Election Offences Act 1954 must be filed within 21 days of the date that the results are gazetted.

PM Anwar says wait for MCMC probe findings before apologising over fuel subsidy claims
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says he will wait for the outcome of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) probe before deciding to apologise to Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin over the RON95 fuel subsidy issue. Anwar however, said the MCMC was still verifying all the sources related to the alleged claim that Muhyiddin (PN-Pagoh) had defended the rights of foreigners in the RON95 fuel subsidy targeting issue. "I have brought this matter to the attention of MCMC to gather all the explanations. "And I have no problem, if it is not verified, I have no problem. "We shall wait for the outcome of MCMC's investigation first," he told Datuk Rosol Wahid (PN-Hulu Terengganu) during the Minister's Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (Aug 14). Rosol had asked whether the Prime Minister was prepared to amend laws related to fake news and apologise to Muhyiddin involving the claims he had defended foreigners in the RON95 fuel subsidy targeting scheme. Muhyiddin, who is also a former prime minister, denied via a social media post that he had ever made any statement suggesting he was defending the rights of foreigners in the RON95 subsidy targeting matter.
