Inside Josie Gibson's 'lavish' life before starting strict 1970s diet
This Morning star Josie Gibson has gone back to the 1970s following a shock health scare - and her new routine is a far cry from her usual lavish lifestyle.
After being diagnosed with gout, the former Big Brother winner made a determined effort to improve her health, turning to vintage methods for her next TV challenge, The 1970s Diet.
Opening up about her diagnosis, Josie revealed: 'I kept saying to the nurse, ' My toes keep hurting'. 'I thought gout was only for old men, but I have been living quite a lavish life. Before I filmed this show, I caught a lot of flights, I drank a lot of champagne, I ate a lot of rich food, and I had little sleep. That's how I ended up getting gout.'
Now the 40-year-old had gone from dining out at fashionable restaurants to living off '70s dinnertime treats such as boiled potatoes, liver and spam. She added, 'I've come from one extreme to the other. I went from living my finest life ever to being brought down to earth with a bang.'
South Gloucestershire-born Josie certainly enjoys the finer things in life, as evidenced by her glamour-filled Instagram account. The TV personality looked right at home fronting her recent Channel 5 show, Around The World In First Class, which saw her delve into the world of luxury travel.
Over the course of the show, which aired in February, Josie tried out various high-end travel experiences, from staying in a £16,000 per night Dubai hotel to being a guest on a private island in Sweden.
Opening up about the opportunity at the time, mum-of-one Josie said: 'When I got the call, I thought this cannot be real. I thought it was a wind-up. I think it took me less than a second to say yes.
"If somebody had told the younger me that one day this would be my life, I would never have been able to believe it in a million years. It is better than I ever could have dreamed of. I don't even want to sugar coat it - I'm jealous of me.'
As well as diving to an underwater sculpture park in Grenada, Josie enjoyed a floating breakfast in a private pool and flew first-class. Opening up about what it was like to fly like a superstar, Josie added: 'When I was on the Virgin flight, it was like a party in the air. We were on our way to Grenada. I knew everybody in my First-Class lounge by the time we landed. We were at the bar.
"We were having a whale of a time. I also experienced First Class with Qatar, and they won the award for best airline in the world. I don't care what anybody says when you are rich, and you are in these first-class places you get treated like Taylor Swift. My biggest worry though is how am I ever going to go back to turning right now I've experienced all these things?'
Although this trip was out of the ordinary for Josie, she's certainly an individual who enjoys the finer things in life. From breathtaking holidays in Venice, from spending Sundays at Mayfair's iconic Langan's Brasserie restaurant, Josie has come a long way from the caravan holidays of her childhood.
Recalling these early experiences fondly ahead of her travel show, Josie, who remains down to earth despite her now glam lifestyle, remembered: 'When we were younger, we didn't really go on holidays. I'm one of six, so our holidays would have been in Brean or Butlin's. I still go to those places now, mind. I'm still a fan.
"What my mum would do is put us in the back of the car and drive around for ages on the estate, so it felt like we were going somewhere really far, but we were just being dropped off at this little field up the road by the quarry in Rangeworthy. We would camp there, but when you're a kid, it doesn't matter, does it?

Coronation Street first look as Eva Price returns alongside sitcom legend
Coronation Street bosses have confirmed that actress Catherine Tyldesley will be reprising her role as Eva Price on the ITV soap, but she is not coming back on her own Coronation Street bosses have confirmed that Catherine Tyldesley will be reprising her role as Eva Price on the ITV soap. The actress, 41, left the cobbles in 2018 but is making a comeback which will see her take on the coveted position of Rovers Return landlady. Eva left the Street with daughter Susie, who at the time was four months old. But when she heads back to Weatherfield later this year, she arrives with new partner Ben Driscoll, played by Aaron McCusker, who is best known for his role as Jamie Maguire in Shameless and also starred in Bohemian Rhapsody as Freddie Mercury's boyfriend. It comes as reports emerged that the new owner of The Rovers had been revealed amid her return. Now the soap has confirmed the theory by fans, announcing Eva will be back in the pub once owned by her mother. What's more, Pauline McLynn, who made her name as Mrs Doyle in the classic sitcom Father Ted, has signed on to her interfering mother-in-law Maggie Driscoll and will be seen alongside Eva and Ben when they take over the nation's most famous pub in October. With them will be Susie and Ben's two sons. Former Emmerdale boss Kate Brooks, who took the reins of Coronation Street earlier this year, said: "We are beyond thrilled that Eva is returning as the landlady of the Rovers, with her new blended family in tow. The Driscolls do not arrive quietly, so expect big drama, explosive secrets and raucous knees ups galore. "To have actors of Catherine, Aaron and Pauline's considerable calibre at the beating heart of this family is absolutely wonderful, and we can't wait for you to get to know and fall in love with them as much as we have already done. Strap yourselves in, it's going to be an exciting and eventful ride.' Reports surrounding the return of Leanne Battersby's sister emerged earlier this year, but then nothing was announced until now. It's thought that the move has come about after EastEnders bosses revealed that Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) will be taking over the Queen Victoria pub on Coronation Street's BBC rival. A source told The Sun: "Corrie bosses were never going to take EastEnders shrewd decision to reinstate Kat and Alfie at the Vic lying down. So they took their time looking for the perfect actor to play her husband to Eva as she makes her return to Corrie as the new boss of the Rovers." The insider added that Corrie bosses knew they had found the 'perfect' actor as soon as the Irish-born star walked into the room. They added of his character: "Aaron's character is also someone not to be messed with, and the locals are going to be in for a shock if they think they can take advantage of his good nature and that cheeky Irish charm. "It's the start of an exciting new chapter in the pub's history." Following her time on the cobbles, Catherine competed on Strictly Come Dancing. She has also starred in The Good Ship Murder and earlier this year appeared opposite Siobhan Finneran in an episode of the ITV drama Protection. She was also set to star Bonnie and Clyde: The Musical last year but it was cancelled and she went viral over a social media scandal known as Cakegate in late 2023. Hulk Hogan's daughter shares concerning conspiracy theory over WWE star's death
WWE icon Hulk Hogan died aged 71 last month and his estranged daughter has posted a conspiracy theory regarding his death despite authorities stating there was no foul play Hulk Hogan's daughter has shared a concerning conspiracy theory about the WWE star's death on social media on Tuesday before sharing a heartfelt tribute to her late father. The wrestling icon, born Terry Gene Bollea, died aged 71 on July 24 after suffering a heart attack. For years, the retired ex- WWE star hadn't been in contact with 37-year-old Brooke after their relationship broke down. That same fractured relationship was brought into the spotlight when she shared an emotional tribute on social media following Hogan's death. It was recently emerged that they had a 'tearful conversation' only a few days before he passed away at his home in Florida. A few days after his death, it was reported that Hogan died from acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, per the Pinellas County Forensic Science Centre. It comes after Sir Michael Palin says he is preparing for the end of his life in sad update. In documents obtained by PageSix, it's stated that Hogan had a history of atrial fibrillation (AFib), which is a heart condition characterised by an irregular and often rapid heart rate. The documents also record that the late sports star had a history of leukaemia, CLL, which is a type of cancer that affects white blood cells called lymphocytes. But now, his daughter Brooke reposted an Instagram post promoting an article by radio personality Bubba the Love Sponge that's titled 'Quick cremation without autopsy raises questions about Hulk Hogan's death'. She added the words: "Exactly". Speaking on his YouTube channel, Bubba claimed Hogan's cremation was approved without an autopsy or independent examination by the county medical examiner. Other allegations he made were that the star was already cremated and someone could have injected something into the wrestler's dialysis port while he was sleeping to induce a heart attack. "There were no signs of foul play or suspicious activity," Maj. Nate Burnside of the Clearwater Police Department told reporters, according to the Tampa Bay Times. His death certificate states he will be cremated at the Bay Area Crematory in Clearwater, with no specific date revealed. A spokesperson for the medical examiner's office confirmed a request for cremation on July 31. They told Page Six at the time: "I'm not aware of when Mr. Bollea will be cremated, only that we've received a request for cremation approval." When Brooke phoned into Bubba's Twitch stream on Tuesday, she was asked for her thoughts on his theories. She said: "'I do think it's weird that no autopsy was performed."

Former Big Brother star Charley Uchea gets engaged to mystery man just weeks after she was 'left for dead' in shock car crash
Former Big Brother star Charley Uchea has got engaged to a mystery man just weeks after she was 'left for dead' in a shock car crash. The reality star, 40, who rose to fame on the eighth series of Big Brother in 2007, shared the happy news on Instagram on Monday. The clip began with a blurry close-up of her huge diamond ring after being propose to by her partner, 43, who she has not named publicly. Charley was also seen relaxing on a sofa wearing a grey silk nightgown as she held her hand up displaying the rock. 'A real man leads with love, protects with presence, and builds with purpose,' Charley captioned the video. She also wrote: 'Two things I know for sure — I'm not where I used to be, and God is still leading me somewhere greater ❤️.' In another post from a few days before, Charley put on a very racy display with her fiance in pictures taken from the same day - with her ring again on show. The engaged couple gazed into each others' eyes as Charley sat on his knee, with both wearing the matching silk dressing gowns. 'Nights like this with your favorite person,' she captioned the pictures. The announcement came just weeks after Charley was rushed to hospital after allegedly being 'left for dead' in a shocking car crash. She took to her Instagram Stories last month to detail the shocking incident, telling fans she had been hit by a truck. She got into the crash after spending the evening out and claimed that she was 'left for dead' on the side of the road after being 'knocked out'. Charley shared a video of herself in hospital wearing a neck brace. She had painful-looking red injuries across her eyebrow and cheek and claimed she could barely use her arms following the crash. She penned in a caption: 'Bless my nurse brushing my hair out, I can't really use my arms atm I'm so weak.' Alongside another picture of a smashed-up car, she added: 'Look at the damage this truck did just by hitting me, then leaves me [for] dead on the side of the road.' Charley also shared a photograph of herself out on the town before the crash and penned: 'Such a nice night before I ended up in the air lol and knocked out.' Charley, who celebrated her 40th birthday just days before on June 30, reassured her 251,000 followers that she would be 'home soon'. MailOnline contacted Charley for further comment at the time. Charley is best known for her 2007 Big Brother stint in the same year that Brian Belo was crowned the winner. She survived eviction until week eight, and was famously argumentative; rowing with Chanelle Hayes for ten minutes about how old Rihanna was. Charley was also attacked with a racist slur by fellow housemate Emily Parr, who was aged 19 at the time. Emily was ejected from the house in the early hours of the morning after she was heard using the N-word to Charley while they were chatting in the garden hours before. Both Charley and Nicky Maxwell, who was also present, were stunned at her use of the word however Emily swiftly insisted it 'was a joke'. She was later called to the diary room and told of her ejection by Big Brother. At the time of Emily's removal, Head of the Big Brother commissioning team at Channel 4, Angela Jain, said after the incident: 'In the wake of Celebrity Big Brother, we must consider the potential offence to viewers regardless of Emily's intentions and her housemates' response. 'The word is clearly racially offensive and there was no justification for its use. 'We have removed Emily from the house to once again make it clear to all housemates and the viewers at home that such behaviour won't be tolerated.'
