The newly established nomination committee will consist of independent industry professionals and experts who will assess eligible works under Academy guidelines to ensure fairness and impartiality before casting their votes. The initiative aims to boost Saudi Arabia's global cinematic presence and strengthen its position within the international film industry. In parallel with this milestone, the commission is also participating in the Locarno Film Festival, running from August 6 to 16, 2025, in Switzerland. Renowned for its focus on experimental and arthouse cinema as well as debut works from emerging directors, Locarno provides a platform for Saudi filmmakers to connect with European and global audiences.
