APCRDA offers quick solutions to many issues raised by Amaravati farmers on Grievance Day

The Hindu09-05-2025
In a proactive step towards addressing the concerns of farmers and agricultural workers in the Amaravati capital region, the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) conducted a Grievance Day at its Tulluru office on Friday. The event witnessed the direct intervention of APCRDA Additional Commissioner G. Suryasai Praveen Chand, who ensured immediate redressal of several complaints.
During the session, farmers from across the capital region presented their issues to the Additional Commissioner, who instructed officials to resolve the complaints on the spot wherever possible. One of the major issues raised pertained to land-related problems, especially those concerning Lanka lands. Responding to these, the Additional Commissioner stated that necessary action would be taken in accordance with directions from the Guntur District Collector.
Several farmers also reported technical glitches in the GIS portal related to the allocation of returnable plots. Taking prompt action, Praveen Chand resolved the issue instantly.
Officers from various departments within the APCRDA participated in the session and managed to provide solutions to a majority of the 23 complaints received, right at the venue. The remaining matters were delegated for swift resolution, with clear instructions from the Additional Commissioner to avoid any delays.
He emphasised that grievance redressal should be prompt and effective, urging farmers to make full use of the weekly Grievance Day held every Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The complaints received this week included 22 related to land matters and one pertaining to social welfare.

Andhra Pradesh Cabinet clears amendments to expedite Amaravati land procurement under Negotiated Settlement Policy

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has approved amendments to the Negotiated Settlement Policy (NSP) to expedite land procurement for key infrastructure projects in Amaravati. The decision, taken on July 24, 2025, aims to overcome the practical hurdles encountered under the earlier framework and accelerate the development of the capital city. Under the existing NSP, the government had managed to acquire only nine acres—roughly 7% of the required 130 acres—in the R1 Zone earmarked for priority roads and utilities. With the new amendments in place, the focus shifts to acquiring the remaining 121 acres by offering improved compensation packages. The targeted land spans across 24 villages situated within Amaravati's core capital region. According to the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), it was observed that certain stretches of proposed priority roads and infrastructure projects fall in areas exempted from the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS), particularly in the demarcated village sites and extended habitations within the R1 Zone. Since LPS is not applicable in these exempted areas, and land acquisition under the LA R&R Act, 2013 is a time-consuming process, the government proposed to acquire land in these areas—and also some scattered houses located within the LPS but outside the R1 Zone—through negotiated settlements, as permitted under Section 124 of the APCRDA Act, 2014. The recent Cabinet-approved modifications introduce several key changes. Instead of the earlier plinth-area-based compensation, the revised policy allows for land-for-land allotments. The financial grants and resettlement benefits have been significantly increased. For families displaced by the project, the monthly livelihood grant has been doubled to ₹5,000 for a period of 10 years. In addition, housing construction assistance has been raised to ₹1.8 lakh, while transportation, subsistence, and resettlement allowances have also been enhanced. Officials underscored that the updated policy is designed to ensure fair and adequate compensation for landowners and to avoid procedural delays that could hold up critical infrastructure works. They also noted that landowners and farmers in the Amaravati region have shown considerable support for the capital city's development. The government believes the revised NSP will facilitate smoother land procurement and faster execution of infrastructure projects that are essential to transforming Amaravati into a world-class people's capital.

Visit to Singapore aims to set record straight, rebuild investor confidence: Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said he had come to Singapore to set the record straight and rebuild a transparent, investor-friendly environment, setting the tone for a crucial diplomatic and investment-oriented engagement with the Singapore Government on Day 2 of his official visit on Monday (July 28, 2027.) In a high-level meeting with Dr. Tan See Leng, Singapore's Minister for Manpower, Trade and Industry, Mr. Naidu openly acknowledged the setbacks investors from Singapore faced during the previous administration in Andhra Pradesh. He assured the Minister that his government is fully committed to creating a trustworthy and stable ecosystem for international investors. 'Our intention is not just to invite investments, but to restore credibility and ensure that those who believed in Andhra Pradesh in the past are treated with respect and fairness,' he said. The Chief Minister highlighted his long-standing admiration for Singapore's governance and urban models, reminding his hosts of the Singapore Township developed in Hyderabad during his earlier tenure. He explained how that admiration continues to shape his vision for Andhra Pradesh. 'We even initiated night-time road-cleaning in Hyderabad inspired by Singapore,' he noted. APCRDA approves ₹1,732.31 cr. tenders to build housing towers for govt. staff in Amaravati Mr. Naidu invited Dr. Tan to participate in the upcoming Global Investors Summit to be held in Visakhapatnam in November, emphasising the State's focus on knowledge-based industries, human capital development and green energy transformation. The Chief Minister outlined a range of opportunities for collaboration — particularly in areas such as green hydrogen, transmission corridors, port development, logistics infrastructure, and data center ecosystems. 'Singapore is a global leader in logistics and urban innovation. Andhra Pradesh wants to learn from and partner with the best,' he said. Journalists urge revival of Amaravati housing project Mr. Tan See Leng responded positively, noting Singapore's keen interest in partnering with Andhra Pradesh, particularly in renewable energy, submarine cable infrastructure, and affordable housing. He also recalled a previous meeting with Mr. Naidu in Hyderabad and expressed appreciation for Andhra Pradesh's renewed investor-centric approach. The meeting was attended by Ministers including Nara Lokesh, P. Narayana, and T.G. Bharat, along with officials from both sides.

Andhra Pradesh JAC Amaravati welcomes revival of Monthly Grievance Day for employees

The Andhra Pradesh JAC Amaravati has welcomed the State government's decision to reinstate the Monthly Grievance Day initiative to address employee concerns at both the department (HOD) and district collectorate levels. In a statement issued on Thursday, A.P. JAC leaders Bopparaju Venkateswarlu and Palisetti Damodara Rao recalled that employee grievances were largely ignored during the previous administration. This prompted the JAC to launch a 92-day statewide agitation, which culminated in the issuance of Government Order Rt. No. 1233, dated June 24, 2023, mandating the conduct of Grievance Day on the third Friday of every month across all departments and districts. However, the JAC pointed out that the initiative had not been implemented uniformly across the State. In response, the JAC escalated the matter to the Chief Secretary at the Chief Minister's Office on December 5, 2024. The issue was subsequently forwarded to the General Administration Department (GAD) via CMP Note No. 709/Prl Secy/(MRC1)/2024, dated January 6, 2025. Following this intervention, the GAD issued a memo on July 6, 2025 (Memo No. GAD01/SWODMDS/4/2025-SW), reaffirming that Grievance Day must be held regularly and that all pending employee issues should be resolved within a specified timeframe. Departments have been instructed to conduct fortnightly reviews of complaints and ensure strict adherence to the original 2023 guidelines.
