The rupee recovered 15 paise on Thursday to settle at 87.65 against the US dollar, bouncing back slightly from its all-time closing low, helped by softer crude oil prices and suspected intervention by the Reserve Bank of India . After plunging 89 paise on Wednesday—its steepest single-day fall in over three years—market participants said the rupee saw intraday support around the 87.75 level, where the RBI is believed to have stepped in to curb volatility, PTI reported. "Today, the RBI is suspected to have intervened around the 87.75/USD level to control volatility, which led the rupee to appreciate to 87.52/USD. A recovery in the equity market also helped stabilise the rupee at the current level," said Harsimran Sahni, EVP & Head - Treasury, Anand Rathi Global Finance. The local unit opened at 87.66 per dollar, touched a high of 87.51 and a low of 87.74, before closing at 87.65. Sentiment remained weak after US President Donald Trump announced a 25% tariff on Indian imports and a penalty on purchases of Russian oil. Traders noted that the lack of clarity over whether the 25% duty would be in addition to the existing 10% baseline tariff has triggered risk-off moves in forex markets. Synopsis Indian Hotels Company, under Puneet Chhatwal's leadership, has ascended to become the third most valuable real estate company in India, according to the 2025 GROHE-HURUN India Real Estate 150 List. The company experienced a significant 36.8% rise in valuation, reaching INR 1,08,300 Cr. This growth is attributed to IHCL's expanding hotel portfolio, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. Indian Hotels, which remains one of country's oldest hospitality companies, bagged the title of third most valuable real estate company, according to the 2025 GROHE- HURUN India Real Estate 150 List. "Indian Hotels Company demonstrated remarkable growth, making a significant ascent within the top companies," said the statement. Puneet Chhatwal-led Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) climbed to the third spot in 2025 with a valuation of Rs 1,08,300 crore, following a 36.8% rise in value. The country's biggest hospitality player posted a net profit of Rs 260.19 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year. Its total income from operations stood at Rs 2,102.17 crore during the April-June quarter, against Rs 1,596.27 crore in the year-ago period. The company's total expenses also increased to Rs 1,662.35 crore, from Rs 1,267.78 crore a year ago, a regulatory filing showed.
