Kate's foundation launches animated films to support children's development
In June, the princess spent time with two of the illustrators working on the films and met early years practitioners also involved in their creation, during a creative workshop at her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.

She is said to be extremely passionate about the release of the films which Kensington Palace has described as a key step in her centre's work to continue raising awareness about the importance of the early years development of a child's life.
To mark the release Kate said: 'Early childhood has been recognised as the golden opportunity to build strong foundations for future life health and happiness.
'The new animated films from The Centre of Early Childhood showcase how adults can create nurturing, loving interactions with children, helping to foster social and emotional development during their earliest years.
'These core social and emotional skills are essential in forming healthy relationships and are fundamental building blocks that can carry us through life.

'That is why we want to raise the awareness of, and celebrate, the extraordinary value of everyday moments of connection which matter more than ever in a rapidly changing world.
'Early childhood offers a sacred opportunity to transform our societies for the better and by nurturing these skills in our babies and children, we will be raising a younger generation better equipped to face the future.'
The series, also available in Welsh and with British Sign Language, uses different styles of animation from curated line illustrations to papercraft, to help bring core concepts related to child development to life.

Topics covered include how we grow an emotionally healthy brain; noticing and navigating feelings; managing big feelings together; back and forth interactions; supporting early learning; and creating space for connection.
The centre is working with universities, charities and professional bodies to build the films into training and practice across the country.
The new series follows on from the princess's major Shaping Us Framework initiative, aimed at increasing awareness of social and emotional skills.

Alex Jones says she feels like she has 'grown up' with One Show viewers Reflecting on her career on the show, she recounted the impact the pandemic had, adding that viewers kept her "sane". Alex Jones (Image: PA Wire/PA Images) Welsh broadcaster Alex Jones has said she feels like she has "grown up" with viewers of The One Show as she marks 15 years on the show. Jones, 48, who started out in children's TV, joined the BBC weekday chat show in August 2010 and hosted major events including royal weddings, Sport Relief and Eurovision. She has also interviewed a number of Hollywood stars including Robert De Niro, Julianne Moore, Jackie Chan and Stephen Graham. Marking a decade and a half on the programme, Jones said: "I feel incredibly proud to have been on the iconic sofa for all these years. It certainly doesn't feel like 15 years, and it still feels fresh, as the show keeps evolving. I feel like we keep coming back better and better. "I started as a young girl and I feel like I've grown up with our viewers. They have seen me through all my big life moments like getting engaged and married, to having children. Our viewers are like extended family by now. "I'll be here as long as they'll have me. I have loved the last 15 years and love presenting the show and I think we're just getting stronger and stronger, from stories to guests and presenters." Reflecting on her career on the show, she recounted the impact the pandemic had, adding that viewers kept her "sane". She said: "I think that our connection with our audience is stronger than it's ever been. I think that relationship was cemented during the pandemic. "It was a big turning point for the show. We became a lifeline for some of our viewers and they trusted us to reflect on the bizarre situation we as collectively found ourselves, but also balance that with stories that distract from the news. "We were the light at the end of sometimes a very dark news bulletin. The viewers kept me sane as much as I did them." Jones has worked alongside broadcasters including Vernon Kay, Clara Amfo, Lauren Laverne and Roman Kemp. She added: "What a lucky girl I am! I have Roman now, and Vernon and JB, as well as Clara and Lauren, and they couldn't be a lovelier bunch. I think the beauty about this line-up is that it lets the show drive forward, because each one of those brilliant broadcasters, they all bring something very different." She also co-hosted alongside former footballer Jermaine Jenas, before he was removed from the presenting team after alleged issues relating to workplace conduct. Cosmic horror writer wins Daniel Owen Prize at Eisteddfod
Peredur Glyn, from Menai Bridge, was awarded the Daniel Owen Memorial Prize for his novel Ozymandias. The National Eisteddfod, a celebration of Welsh culture and language, is held annually across Wales and features a range of competitions, performances and events. Mr Glyn, a reader in linguistics and bilingualism at Bangor University, is also an established writer. He has published two novels, including Pumed Gainc y Mabinogi, which was shortlisted for Welsh Book of the Year in 2023. He is known for writing in the genre of cosmic horror, exploring themes of supernatural forces and the insignificance of humanity in the wider universe. Mr Glyn is also the author of Galwad Cthulhu a Straeon Arswyd Eraill, the first Welsh-language translation of H. P. Lovecraft's work. Mari Emlyn, Alun Davies, and Haf Llewelyn, adjudicators, praised Mr Glyn's novel for its depth and storytelling. In her adjudication, Ms Emlyn said: "I knew I was in safe hands from the start in the company of this masterful writer, even though this isn't usually the kind of novel I go for. "The novel is very cleverly structured like a classical Shakespearean drama with its five acts, although this author, thankfully, resists the temptation to include a dénouement, justifying this at the end by saying, 'Real life isn't tidy.' "Ozymandias fully deserves the Daniel Owen Memorial Prize." Ms Llewelyn said: "This has been a particularly special competition this year. "Remarkably, Anfarwol leapt to the top and stayed there from the very first reading. "We're in the company of a remarkable author here, and I feel privileged to be among the first people to read this work. "From the beginning, I could relax, knowing that Ozymandias would not stumble, and that I was in the company of a confident author, a skilled storyteller, and a wordsmith who handles our language with elegance and agility. "This is a very successful novel and will be an extremely valuable addition to the world of Welsh-language fiction. "I venture to say that this is among the finest winners of the Daniel Owen Memorial Prize over the years." Mr Davies also praised the work. He said: "Judging 14 novels in a relatively short period can be a challenging task, but the reward for a judge is discovering a story like Anfarwol. "Considering the standard of this year's entrants, it is high praise indeed to say that the story of Ozymandias stands head and shoulders above the other competitors, and not only deserves to win this year, but would likely have come out on top in many other years as well. "This is truly a stunning story that is hard to summarise: a historical, supernatural, and science fiction adventure that is funny, exciting, thought-provoking, and challenging. "The novel touches on mortality, Welsh identity, and what it means to be part of the human race, and I was prompted to reflect on many strange and interesting questions while reading."
