Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma booked over ‘Chambal ke Dakku,' song about violence, at PU event that saw murder
Sharma, who was one of the artistes on stage at the March 28 event, has been booked for allegedly violating performance guidelines and singing a song that, authorities say, may have fueled a violent altercation which led to a student's death.
The performance, which was held on March 28 at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Sector 25, received the administration's permission with a clear mandate: no content promoting violence, drug use, liquor, or gangster culture.

Sharma allegedly performed 'Chambal ke Dakku' (Dacoits of Chambal), a track now under the scanner for its aggressive themes and glorification of outlaws.
On the same night, a student named Aditya Thakur was killed on the university campus, reportedly after he raised concerns about the influence of such content on the audience.
It was reported that Thakur, a second-year PU student, was allegedly beaten to death during the event by individuals from outside the campus. Three other students were injured in the brawl.

While the connection between the performance and the fatal incident is under investigation, the crime has reignited debate over the growing influence of provocative music on youth behaviour, especially in light of the Haryana government's earlier ban on over 30 songs deemed to promote anti-social conduct.
Masoom Sharma, a dominant name in the regional music scene, has been linked to several of these tracks.

His response, if any, was not reported so far.
As far as the investigation goes, four people were arrested by the police in connection with the attack.

CM orders mandatory retirement for nine police inspectors
Jaipur: Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Wednesday ordered the mandatory retirement of nine police inspectors from the home department, in what was deemed as the govt's strict stance against "incompetence, indolence, and unsatisfactory performance" of state govt employees. Sharma also allowed initiation of proceedings under Rule 8 of the All-India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 1969 against a Rajasthan cadre IAS officer in connection with a serious case of illegal land allocation. Thirteen serving officers were also slapped with orders to withhold annual salary increments pending departmental investigations.

Wanted inter-state criminal Roshan Sharma injured in police encounter in Patna after ‘snatching gun from cop'
Roshan Sharma, a wanted criminal involved in over 18 cases across Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal, was injured in a police encounter Wednesday near Kurkuri village in Patna district. The incident occurred during a police operation based on leads provided by Sharma following his arrest on the night of August 4-5 from Jehanabad. Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya Sharma said, 'Roshan Sharma was a wanted accused in several prominent cases in Patna, including the Kripashankar murder case and the firing incident at Ramkrishna Nagar bus stand.' He added that investigation so far revealed that the accused had been active since 2004 and was involved in multiple serious crimes such as murder, dacoity, loot, and Arms Act violations. According to the officer, the accused was brought to Patna for interrogation, during which he reportedly confessed to his involvement in multiple incidents. 'Based on his disclosures, police recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition from the Phulwarisharif area. A mini gun factory was also discovered, where a significant quantity of raw materials used for manufacturing illegal firearms, along with several semi-finished weapons, were seized,' SSP Sharma said. The officer added that based on further information by the accused about one of his associates, a police team went on a raid to arrest him. However, while passing through Kurkuri village under Phulwarisharif police station limits, Sharma requested a brief halt to attend to nature's call. 'During the stop, he tried to snatch a policeman's firearm and attempted to flee,' SSP Sharma stated. The police asked him to stop and, when he did not comply with warnings to stop, personnel fired at him to prevent his escape. The SSP informed that the accused had sustained a gunshot injury to his leg. 'He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for primary treatment and later referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH),' the officer said. Police confirmed that Roshan Sharma has a long history of inter-state criminal activity and remains accused in several high-profile cases, while adding that 'further investigations are ongoing'.

Delivery man held for fleeing with Rs 55L of his employer, cash recovered
NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old delivery man was arrested for allegedly fleeing with Rs 55 lakh belonging to his employer in northwest Delhi's Keshav Puram, a police officer said on Tuesday. The accused, Narender Sharma, had previously worked with the complainant in 2013 but left the job due to family issues. In desperate need of money, he rejoined in March this year and allegedly plotted to steal a large sum. He was given Rs 55 lakh to deliver to a party but absconded with the money. 'An incident was reported on July 27 at Keshav Puram where the complainant, a property dealer with an office at Lawrence Road, stated that Narender Sharma, a resident of Haryana, was working with him as a delivery man,' a senior police officer said. On July 24, Sharma was handed over Rs 55 lakh for a transaction related to the sale and purchase of property. He packed the cash in a bag and left the office, police said. Later, he informed the complainant that the concerned party had not arrived. But when the complainant tried calling again, Sharma's phone was switched off. Police conducted search operations across Delhi, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. He was finally traced and nabbed from Delhi with the entire stolen cash, police said.
