This make-up artist approved hack stops sunglasses leaving annoying marks on your nose
It's not even June and we've already been treated to plenty of sunshine, with forecasters predicting a three-month summer scorcher across the UK. So it's no surprise there's been a 140% rise in Google searches for 'sunglasses' in the last month, as Brits look for stylish pairs to protect their eyes from damage.
But however trendy the style you shop, there's an eternal issue we all have with specs: the annoying marks they leave on your make-up. You travel to work or dinner with friends, and by the time you arrive, you've got those two little spots on the bridge of your nose where your make-up has entirely rubbed off. Not chic.
Until now, we've accepted this as an unavoidable side effect of not blinding ourselves in the sun. (Let's be honest, if we're picking between good make-up and good eyesight, we'd have to plump for the latter.) But thanks to Revolution Beauty make-up artist Mel Trierweiler, we've now learned a quick hack that banishes annoying sunglasses marks for good – and we're passing it on to you.
According to Trierweiler, you likely already have the solution in your make-up bag. All you need is a loose powder – translucent or shaded, it doesn't matter – which is essential for keeping greasiness at bay in the summer months.
The hack? After applying the powder to your face as usual (with focus on the oily T-zone comprising your nose, cheeks and forehead), grab your sunglasses and apply the loose powder to the inner frames. This will create a barrier on the glasses that absorbs excess oil and make-up, stopping it from transferring when you put them on your nose.
Another extra tip? Apply a little setting spray (or hairspray) to your sunglasses using a beauty blender or cotton pad before layering on the powder. Trierweiler recommends Revolution's £10.99 Superfix Misting Setting Spray, which provides some extra grip and helps ensure the oil-absorbing powder stays in place all day.
There you have it: a 30-second hack to banish those annoying marks for good. Now all that's left to do is choose which pair of sunnies we'll be investing in this summer. And loll around in the sunshine, obvs.

Jess Cartner-Morley's 10 golden rules for clothes shopping: try on two sizes, don't wear buttons and look yourself in the eye
We all make mistakes. Mistakes are fine. The trick when shopping for clothes is to avoid making the same ones over and over again, because that can get dispiriting, and when it comes to purchases, mistakes can be expensive. Awful to spend the money and not feel the benefit. Not to mention the state of the planet. So, in the interests of not feeling like a broke, evil carbon-guzzler with nothing to wear, here are my golden rules of changing-room decision-making. The Guardian's journalism is independent. We will earn a commission if you buy something through an affiliate link. Learn more. 1. Wear clothes without buttons – and slip on shoes Buying the right clothes starts with wearing the right clothes when you go shopping. You need to streamline your changing room manoeuvres. Wear shoes that you can slip off and on. If you are only looking at dresses, then wear a dress for speed; otherwise wear loose separates. You will have a better sense of whether that boho blouse works if you are trying it on with your favourite jeans, than standing there in your knickers. Also, pack a tote bag so that you aren't buying bags and can comfortably carry any purchases on your shoulder. 2. Be an early bird The best time to shop is the first hour or two of the day. Shops are much less crowded, the rails are freshly stocked and the staff are less weary. 3. Always try on two sizes The size you think-slash-hope you are, and the bigger one. And when you get into the changing room, don't even glance at the label, just try either one and judge whether it would look better more fitted or looser. If you are in between sizes, go bigger. It's easier to have clothes taken in than let out. 4. Look yourself in the eye when you try things on Look at your body language as much as the clothes. You should be feeling yourself. You should be looking at yourself in the mirror a bit like, 'well hellooo, hot stuff'. You should find yourself slightly showing off to your own reflection. When you find something great, you can feel it in your bones and see it in your eyes. 5. Don't let sequins, feathers and logos turn your head The most common mistake is buying too many party outfits, and too many boring basics. The clothes that have the most cheering impact on your life are in the sweet spot in between: pieces you can wear on a normal day to make you feel special. Interesting, but not dramatic. Look for those. 6. Investigate categories that are outside your comfort zone Look for newness. 'I never wear trousers in that shape/dresses in that length' is not a useful train of thought. This is your moment to try out a palazzo pant or a shirt dress or a waistcoat, or whatever it is that you don't already have. You will not find the clothes that will change your life if you only try on replicas of what you have at home. 7. Ask yourself: when will I wear this? Good answers include: to work tomorrow; to birthday drinks at the weekend. Bad answers include: when I get invited to the Met Gala; when I lose 10lb. 8. Do not get distracted by the sale rail Doesn't matter how cheap it is, it isn't a bargain if you don't love it. 9. Think outside the changing room bubble Plan how you will leave the house in these clothes. A strapless maxidress? You are going to need a jacket or a knit that works on top. If you can't think of anything you have at home, think again. If a new dress also requires you to buy new shoes and a new coat, it's probably not the dress for you. 10. Don't buy it in a colour you don't wear If a bright colour doesn't feel right for you, get it in navy or white. I know this sounds boring but well-made pieces in good silhouettes in neutral colours are the clothes you will love for ever. Newsflash: you don't actually need to wear butter yellow. Hair and makeup: Delilah Blakeney using Oribe and Dr Sams skincare. Model: Jen at Milk Management. Dress, £240, Essentiel Antwerp. Bracelet, £250, Rachel Jackson. Earrings, £54, Ottoman Hands

Stacey Solomon soaks up the sun in a skimpy orange bikini as the busy mum of five enjoys a relaxing pool day during Lake Como work trip
Stacey Solomon made the most of a work trip to Lake Como, taking the afternoon off for a spot of sunbathing on Tuesday. The busy mum of five, who has jetted to the idyllic location to shoot with her haircare brand Rehab, stripped down to a skimpy orange bikini for some time by the pool with her colleagues. Stacey looked gorgeous in the tiny two piece, confidently strolling around before taking a cooling dip. Pulling her hair up and slipping on some shades, Stacey laughed and chatted with her team as they relaxed after a busy few days of shooting content in Italy. Stacey has been keeping her 6.1m Instagram followers up to date with her travels with the haircare brand she invested in two years ago. Indeed, the TV star, 35, shares everything on social media, from her life at Pickle Cottage with husband Joe Swash and their six children, to her fitness journey. Last year, after documenting her progress in her newly built home gym, Stacey shared an inspirational message with her followers where she embraced her 'hip cushions' and 'boobs which can hold my gym essentials'. After sharing a picture of herself on her Instagram Stories coming back from the gym in a pink T-shirt and leggings, the mother-of-five was inundated with messages from her followers who commented on how great she looked. Stacey then took to her social media to address the influx of messages she had received. Standing in front of a mirror with some of the comments displayed on screen she said: 'I've had so many lovely messages like this lately, but I thought it was really important to come on here and say when I take the gym clothes off I look like this...' The Loose Women panellist hen proceeded to pull her leggings down past her hips and flaunt her unfiltered and non photoshopped body. She added '...Which is also really pretty and a really lovely body and I just feel like it's important to show that.' Pulling a can of deodorant and a hairbrush out from under her breasts, Stacey then joked: 'Don't get me wrong, I've got abs for the first time in my life, but I can still very comfortably lay down on my hip without feeling a thing and when I take my sports bra off, there's still enough weight and length in my boobs to hold my gym essentials. 'Deodorant, a hairbrush, you name it, these babies can hold it! But yeah I just posted that for anyone who might need to see it today or ever.' Stacey laid back in the pool, happily chatting with her colleagues from the brand, which she invested in two years ago Pulling her hair up and slipping on shades, Stacey laughed and chatted with her team as they relaxed after a busy few days of shooting content in Italy The TV star shares everything on social media, from her life at Pickle Cottage with husband Joe Swash and their six children, to her fitness journey Stacey then uploaded the video onto her grid and captioned the post: 'Just because I think it's important to see you can have abs (some days) and also have hip cushions and a womb!!! You're perfect & I'm sure the bodies you may aspire to, look different, depending on the day/clothes/hormones/angles. 'I've been consistently going to the gym for nearly a year! Wahoo (I know who I am?) But that means I spend a lot of time in gym wear which is specifically designed to hold you together & support you so you don't get a nipple in the eye on the treadmill! 'So just thought I'd show you my body underneath because I don't think we see it enough. Do what makes you feel good & that you enjoy. Your happiness is the biggest priority'. Fans flocked to her comment section to praise the star for how open and honest she had been Stacey then joked: 'Don't get me wrong, I've got abs for the first time in my life, but I when I take my bra off, there's still enough weight and length in my boobs to hold my gym essentials' Stacey's trip abroad comes after she suffered some heat recently when her followers turned on her over her ill-judged rant after losing out on a prize at the 2025 BAFTA Television Awards. While she congratulated the winners, Stacey couldn't help but reveal how 'gutted' she was for her team who 'deserved' the award as she declared that they were 'robbed'. Fans claimed Stacey is starting to 'show her true colours' compared to her usual wholesome demeanor and told the BBC presenter to 'grow up' and that she has 'got too big for her boots'. However not everyone agreed and others believed Stacey was being 'refreshingly honest' and was simply just 'disappointed for her team'. In the original video, Stacey fumed: 'We didn't win a BAFTA. And I know I'm supposed to take it gracefully like a champ but, I'll be honest, I'm devastated!. Laughing at her reaction, she continued: 'I'm not handling it very well, I'm not taking it very gracefully - I'm devastated! I'm devastated for our whole team, like I'm so gutted for our team. 'Everyone got dressed up and was really hopeful, I think because they work so hard. It's not an easy show to make, Sort Your Life Out and the team work so hard to make it happen and they so deserve the BAFTA. Stacey rose to fame after appearing on the X Factor and while she chose not to pursue a career in singing, Stacey has gone on to become one of the most successful names from the ITV show Stacey's trip abroad comes after she suffered some heat recently when her followers turned on her over her ill-judged rant after losing out on a prize at the 2025 BAFTA Television Awards 'The Sort Your Life Out team deserved a BAFTA and I'm devastated. I'm not saying that everyone else didn't deserve their BAFTAs, they absolutely did. 'People think making TV is really easy and it's not, so everyone deserves recognition. But I'm just gutted for my whole Sort Your Life Out family because I feel like they deserved a BAFTA. I'm gonna say it - I'm gutted!'. Going on to reveal what it takes to make their show, she went on: 'We'll pack up a house and within seven days that house is packed up, into vans, over to a warehouse, laid out on the floor, we go through it meticulously, we make sure it doesn't just get chucked away. 'We donate, we recycle, we resell things. We put it all back and try and put it in systems to help families move forward...' She also gave a shout out to the families who give up their time and open their homes to TV audiences, especially when they run the risk of being judged. However not everyone agreed and others believed Stacey was being 'refreshingly honest' and was simply just 'disappointed for her team' Stacey now juggles work on Sort Your Life Out with her family reality show for the BBC as well as her many businesses like REHAB. Stacey's involvement in REHAB Your Hair marks the first time she has ever invested her own money in a business. The star, who rose to fame on The X Factor 15 years ago has amassed a huge fortune after putting name to everything from cleaning products, TV shows, clothing lines and crafts. And after running her business empire from Pickle Cottage in Essex, Stacey's next business move is to head Stateside as it was recently revealed that she is in talks to launch her hugely popular hair brand in the US following its success in the UK.

Amanda Holden risks tripping over as she arrives at Heart FM studios wearing extremely wide black palazzo pants and heels
risked tripping over in extremely wide black palazzo pants as she made a glamorous entrance at Heart FM studios in London's Leicester Square on Wednesday. The presenter, 54, cut a chic figure in a black button-down halter top and pleated wide-leg trousers as she strutted down the street. She added inches to her frame with a pair of towering black heels and toted her essentials in a matching woven textured handbag. Amanda further accessorised her look with a stack of diamond bracelets, a thin waist belt, and a pair of trendy oversized shades. Her outing comes after she showed off her jaw-dropping figure in a pink bikini while filming a new campaign in Mallorca earlier this week. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The presenter, 54, cut a chic figure in a black button-down halter top and pleated wide-leg trousers as she strutted down the street The radio host shared the new racy clip on her Instagram page - informing fans she was on the sunny Spanish island for work purposes. In the stunning video, the BGT judge radiated confidence while strutting her stuff by a pool in the skimpy two-piece, adding strappy open-toe heels to complete the revealing look. Her fellow celeb pals raced to comment below the stunning clip, with Ruth Langsford sharing a slew of heart emojis and Vicky Pattison raving: 'AMANDA!!!!' Amanda was in Mallorca to film a new ad for UK brand Revive Collagen, founded by TOWIE star Samantha Faiers. Last week, the TV favourite questioned if she had 'forgotten her clothes' when she realised she looked completely naked on the breakfast show cameras. The Heart Breakfast presenter joined her co-star Jamie Theakston for their usual weekday spot and had been wearing a peach strapless dress which was not visible in the shot. Welcoming their listeners, Amanda said: 'Good morning Mr Theakston! It is six-thirty, and I've just caught myself on the camera and don't you think I look naked this morning? Sat behind here.' Jamie replied: 'Do you know what? You are wearing clothes, aren't you?' Amanda clarified: 'I just looked and went 'what? Have I forgot to put my clothes on?'' 'It does look like that,' Jamie laughed. However, it would come as no surprise if Amanda was naked as the star is no stranger to flashing the flesh in the studios. In April 2024, she stripped naked during the Heart Breakfast Show. The confident star put every inch of herself on display as she removed her clothes for a life drawing session, that saw artists, as well as her radio co-hosts Jamie and Ashley Roberts have a go at drawing her. As Amanda dropped her trousers on camera, Jamie explained: 'Slightly distracting... Amanda's in the corner of the studio without any clothes on - which is a first not for her of course - but the rest of us.' Ashley interjected: 'She looks amazing!' As Amanda was presented with the images of herself nude, she seemed delighted with the outcomes. Yet Jamie was quick to put an end to the bizarre segment as he called out 'Can you put a top on because it's slightly distracting?!'
