Michigan football OL target Leo Delaney drops top 4, sets commitment date
Michigan football recruiting is starting to heat up, evidenced by the Wolverines getting two commitments on Saturday in four-star quarterback Brady Smigiel and three-star edge rusher Tariq Boney. But the maize and blue won't see the bulk of the 2026 class come together until June and July, after all of the official visits take place.
One prospect that the Wolverines have been hot and heavy on is 2026 Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day four-star interior offensive lineman Leo Delaney. Delaney has made several trips to Ann Arbor and he was high school teammates with Michigan quarterback Jadyn Davis and wide receiver Channing Goodwin.
On Tuesday, Delaney revealed his top four schools as well as his commitment date. Michigan football made the cut and he intends on committing to his school of choice on July 11.
Delaney is rated highest by 247Sports, which has him as the No. 62 player in the country, regardless of position. Clemson, Penn State, and Tennessee are his other finalists.
The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Wolverines as heavy, heavy favorites while there are two 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions from April for him -- one for Michigan and one for the Vols.

Michigan State football is reportedly showing interest in an athlete prospect from Illinois that holds a pair of notable power four offers. Josh Morgan of Oak Park, Ill. announced on Sunday that he has received an invitation to attend the Spartans' season-opener against Western Michigan on August 29. Morgan added in a social media post that he "can't wait to get back on campus" noting that he plans to either attend this opener or hopefully another game this upcoming season. Lions Fans React to Injury Update on Sam LaPorta
Lions Fans React to Injury Update on Sam LaPorta originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Detroit Lions are gearing up for another NFL campaign after winning the NFC North title in 2024. Unfortunately, the team just got some unfortunate injury news before the start of the 2025 season. On Thursday, Lions head coach Dan Campbell announced that third-year tight end Sam LaPorta has suffered an undisclosed injury. The injury is not considered "major," but the 24-year-old pass catcher is expected to miss at least a few days with the issue. "LaPorta will be down. It's not major, but he will miss a little bit of time here," Campbell said before the Lions' second joint practice with the Miami Dolphins on Thursday. While LaPorta's injury is not considered serious, some Lions fans are sounding the alarm on what could spell future injury issues for the star TE. "I don't like this," one wrote. "He seems injury prone," another added. "This team is cursed, if it weren't for the injuries last year, they would have won the Super Bowl," another said. "Don't overreact. Just be right for Week 1," another wrote. LaPorta burst onto the NFL scene as an elite tight end weapon in 2023, reeling in 86 catches for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns in his rookie season with the Lions. His record-breaking statistics regressed in Year 2, seeing him collect 60 catches for 726 yards and seven touchdowns. The Lions will face off against the Dolphins in their next preseason matchup on Saturday afternoon. The team will kickoff its regular-season schedule with a matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Sep. 7. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 14, 2025, where it first appeared.
