WNBA All-Star Game 'Team Hangover,' explained: How Napheesa Collier's squad earned party moniker
To be clear, Team Collier didn't exactly defy odds by overcoming any mismatches or a lopsided point spread, but instead, the group overcame the aftereffects of enjoying the Indianapolis nightlife.
After Team Collier's record-breaking 151-131 win, the team broke down their final huddle by giving themselves a new name: Team Hangover.

Here's how that nickname is a fitting one.
It's unclear when Team Collier officially adopted the Team Hangover moniker, but they began the process of earning it on Friday night.
MORE: The best highlights, moments from Team Collier's 2025 WNBA All-Star Game win
Thanks in large part to the StudBudz Twitch stream, fans got a firsthand look at what Team Collier was up to on Friday. It helps that one half of the StudBudz is Lynx guard Courtney Williams, who made her All-Star debut for Team Collier in 2025.
Rewind to Friday night, and a few of Team Collier's members were shown having a time on the stream.
From Kelsey Plum's apparent affinity for Crown Royal to Alyssa Thomas' incredible reaction to Williams' lemon drop order, Team Collier was a major winner throughout Friday's festivities.
It didn't stop there, as rookie Paige Bueckers joined Williams for an inspired duet to sing Keyshia Cole's "Love."
Fast forward to Saturday, and Team Collier was all business throughout the game. With its namesake winning MVP honors with an All-Star record 36 points, Team Collier also enjoyed a groundbreaking triple-double from Skylar Diggins, and the team scored 151 points on 54.8 percent shooting from the field.

As for those captured on the above clips, Williams finished with 13 points and five assists, Bueckers dished out eight assists in her All-Star debut, Thomas had six points and four assists in 13 minutes, and Plum scored 16 points on 50.0 percent shooting in 17 minutes of action.
These methods might not be sustainable when the regular season rolls back around, but it's hard to argue that Team Hangover Collier's methods got in the way of their performance in the All-Star Game.

Jalen Williams calls Kobe Bryant the NBA's GOAT
Considering how vocal he's been about his fandom, it shouldn't be shocking to learn Jalen Williams believes Kobe Bryant is basketball's greatest of all time. The NBA champion trended on social media this past week for a side-by-side photo. Williams answered questions of whether he was a good enough second-best player on a title contender with a resounding yes during the playoffs. The 24-year-old stepped up to help Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. His championship run was highlighted by a 40-point performance in the 2025 NBA Finals Game 5. What makes Williams' run even more mythical is the quiet battle he endured. After he sustained torn wrist ligaments late in the regular season, he played through swelling and pain for two months in the playoffs. He'd receive pain-numbing shots before every playoff contest. It was obvious Williams was playing through an ailment. His wrist was heavily wrapped. But the 24-year-old kept quiet about the injury. Anytime he was asked about it, he'd have a strong poker face. After Sam Presti announced his wrist surgery, he finally talked ad nauseam about the grueling day-to-day process. Earlier this week, Williams took a photo of himself in pajamas, attempting a one-handed free throw with his hand cast. It's the same pose Bryant hit when he dealt with a hand fracture in 1999. The 24-year-old posted both photos on social media. It caused some backlash, but none of substance. After Williams fired back at his haters by saying he's closer to Bryant than they are to him, he also proclaimed that he thinks Bryant is the best of all time. Williams wrote in a reply: "he da goat." That's a popular opinion among some basketball circles. Bryant brought home five championships with the Los Angeles Lakers. That type of success on the NBA's biggest franchise will create a huge following. Even if there are a handful of players with better resumes, Bryant's fans will argue to the end of time that he's the greatest ever. Add Williams to that group. he da goat

Mariner Milestone: Cal Raleigh Reaches 40th HR, Calls It 'Cool Moment'
Cal Raleigh reached another landmark in his incredible season Saturday night when he drilled his 40th home run deep into the right field bleachers at Angel Stadium. Becoming the seventh catcher in major league history to hit 40 homers has been all but inevitable for Raleigh ever since the Seattle Mariners slugger got to the All-Star break with 38 — and then won the Home Run Derby. Raleigh still felt the 40th was special, mostly because it broke a tie and propelled the Mariners to a valuable 7-2 victory in their playoff chase. "It's a cool milestone to hit, and I'm very thankful for it, and it's a cool moment for sure," Raleigh said. "I look back to 20 or 30, and that was cool, and 40 is definitely very cool as well. I'm not trying to downplay it, but I'm glad we got the win tonight, and I'll look back one day and it will be cool." Raleigh is the first player in the majors to hit 40 this season, doing it before the calendar even turns to August. He crushed a 2-0 fastball from struggling Angels reliever Jose Fermin, driving it 416 feet with a 113.5-mph exit velocity. The shot put the Mariners up 3-2, and they added three more runs in the inning to take control of their second win in three games in Anaheim. "I'm sure it feels great to get to 40," Seattle manager Dan Wilson said. "I'm sure he wants to get to 41 as soon as possible, because he knows it helps us win ballgames, and at this point, that's what he's looking for. Knowing Cal, he wants us to win. But a big milestone for sure. The season, the numbers that he's put up is pretty staggering. This is just another one of those notches on the belt." Although he was the Mariners' designated hitter Saturday, Raleigh joined an elite club of hitters who primarily played catcher during their 40-homer seasons. Johnny Bench and Mike Piazza did it twice, while Roy Campanella, Todd Hundley and Javy Lopez were joined in 2021 by Kansas City's Salvador Perez, who set the single-season record for catchers with 48. Perez's mark is eminently reachable for Raleigh, who would need to average just one homer a week for the rest of the regular season to top it. Raleigh is only the fifth player in Mariners history to hit 40 homers, and he joins elite Pacific Northwest company: Ken Griffey Jr., Alex Rodriguez, Nelson Cruz and Jay Buhner. "They're really good players," Raleigh said. "They're some of the best that's ever come through here, so very honored to be a part of that group. It's a cool thing. Just try to keep going and see how far we can take it." Raleigh also tied Griffey (1998) for the most homers in Seattle history through 105 games of a season while becoming only the eighth player in major league history to hit 40 in his team's first 105 games — just the second to do it in the 21st century, joining Aaron Judge (2022). Raleigh even reached his latest landmark on a day when his AL MVP candidacy indirectly got a boost: Judge, the obvious front-runner for his third award in four seasons, went on the 10-day injured list with a flexor strain in his right elbow — although the Yankees superstar's absence isn't currently expected to be lengthy. Raleigh's production has actually slowed in July. He came into Saturday night's game batting .162 with just 11 hits in 18 games this month, although six of those hits were homers. Raleigh had two hits and struck out three times Saturday night, but Wilson has seen progress in Raleigh's approach at the plate in recent days. "I think for the most part, it's an adjustment period," Wilson said. "Teams start to pitch around you a little bit, and I think you become aware of that and start making the adjustments there. But I think he's just been very consistent pretty much all this season, and I think that's what's been so great for me to see, and for all of us to benefit from. He's just been so consistent, and to do this while raising his batting average at the same time, pretty incredible." recommended Item 1 of 3 Get more from the Major League Baseball Follow your favorites to get information about games, news and more
