KUALA LUMPUR - Police have opened an investigation paper following a report lodged by singer Nurshahila Amir Amzah, better known as Shila Amzah, who claimed she was assaulted by a popular singer yesterday.
Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said statements from two individuals have been recorded to assist in the investigation.
He said Shila lodged the report at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters (IPD) at 5.31 pm yesterday.
"So far, the individual alleged to have assaulted Shila has not been summoned, but efforts are underway to obtain a statement from the person involved.
"The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code,' he said when contacted today.
He said initial investigations found that the incident did not involve any physical contact or injury.
Yesterday, the media reported that Shila claimed she was openly assaulted by a popular singer during a rehearsal session for a concert. - BERNAMA

Police nab Tawau man for threatening neighbour with knife over car scratches
TAWAU: A dispute between neighbours in Taman Ria 3 here turned violent on Wednesday when a man, 44, brandished a knife after being confronted about scratches on a car. The suspect reportedly lost his temper when the victim confronted him over fresh markings found on his car, which was parked in front of the house. Tawau acting district police chief Superintendent Champin Piuh said the 8.27am incident occurred when the victim noticed scratch marks and scribbles on his vehicle. "He approached the suspect, whom he believed to be responsible for the damage. "However, instead of responding calmly, the suspect became aggressive," he said in a statement today. The situation escalated when the suspect pulled out a knife and pointed it at the victim while hurling verbal threats. Fearing for his safety, the victim lodged a report. Following the report, police arrested the suspect at 3.15pm the same day. Police also seized the knife believed to have been used in the incident. Checks found that the suspect has two prior drug-related criminal records from 2012 and 2025. Investigations are ongoing. The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Section 427 for committing mischief.
