Steve Parish says Crystal Palace will appeal against Europa League exclusion
The American stepped away from Palace at the start of July, but the ownership issue relates to the end of last season when the club secured a first European appearance by beating Manchester City at Wembley.
UEFA's ruling would mean Nottingham Forest, who finished seventh in the Premier League, taking Palace's place in the Europa League.
'We are still fighting,' Parish told the The Rest is Football podcast. 'There's an appeal process, so we go to CAS which is the court for arbitration and, you know, we're very hopeful. We think we've got great legal arguments.
'We don't think this is the right decision by any means. We know unequivocally that John didn't have decisive influence over the club.
'We know we proved that beyond all reasonable doubt because it's a fact.'
UEFA rules say that no owner or co-owner can have a controlling interest in more than one club competing in the same European competition during the same season.
Palace's position throughout has been that Textor, who had previously spoken publicly about his frustration over the lack of influence he was able to exert at Selhurst Park, did not have a sufficiently controlling role for the club to fall foul of the regulations.
The deadline for shareholders to divest their interest in a club, or in some other way to alter their ownership structure, in order to comply with the regulations was March 1.
Forest, who stand to gain from the ruling, were at risk of being in a similar situation but their owner Evangelos Marinakis – who also owns Greek side Olympiacos – placed his shares in a blind trust ahead of the deadline in anticipation of the club qualifying for Europe.
'We feel that there are a lot of very genuine mitigating circumstances and more than enough wriggle room to put us in the competition,' said Parish.
'It does look bad. This is the dream right? This is what keeps football alive. This is why everybody goes, because they think one day they might win a cup and they might qualify for Europe.
'These things can be defining moments for a club and completely change the course of history forever.
'Hopefully when we go to CAS we get the right answer.
'We get the written version of (the ruling) with the detail then apparently the appeal is 10 days'

The reigning US PGA champion claimed the third leg of the career Grand Slam, and his fourth major in total, in some style and has only 11 months to wait to try to complete the set in the same four-year time-frame as 18-time major winner Jack Nicklaus did. Only Tiger Woods has achieved it quicker but Scheffler is starting to be mentioned in the same breath – and he is still getting better. However, this was on another scale with his 17-under total giving him a four-shot victory over compatriot Harris English, also runner-up to him at the PGA, in McIlroy's own backyard, which was even more comfortable than the numbers suggest. No-one in the modern era has ever won their first four majors by three shots or more – Young Tom Morris, John Henry Taylor and James Braid all achieved it before the First World War. The chasing pack had teed off more in hope than expectation as the world number one had converted his previous nine 54-hole leads into victories and sure enough, a brilliant approach from the rough to inside a foot saw him birdie the first to pull further away from home favourite McIlroy, struggling for the fast start he needed from six shots behind. He never looked back as birdies at four and five were followed by a clutch 16-footer for par and his biggest show of emotion to date with a fist pump. His over-confidence got the better of him out of sand at the next, hitting the face and leaving his ball in the trap resulting in a double-bogey – his first dropped shots in 33 holes. But if his challengers thought that had left the door ajar it was slammed shut at the very next hole when he landed his approach four feet from the pin to turn at 16 under. McIlroy's mis-hit chip at the 10th for double bogey ended his chances eight back. Birdies at 12 and 15 got him back to 10 under but he would get no closer. English emerged from the pack with a five-under 66 to take second, while compatriot Chris Gotterup proved last week's Scottish Open victory was no fluke with a 67 to finish third on 12 under. Gotterup briefly reduced the gap to four at 13 but Scheffler subsequently carded his fifth and final birdie of the day at 12 to keep him at arm's length. Former US Open champion Wyndham Clark raced through the field with a 65 but he had started from too far back and could only get to 11 under alongside England's Matt Fitzpatrick and China's Haotong Li.

Borthwick hails 'magnificent' England after overcoming delays in USA
In a match that kicked off an hour later than scheduled owing to lightning strikes in the American capital, Curtis Langdon, Luke Northmore, Cadan Murley, Jack van Poortvliet, Harry Randall and debutant Gabriel Oghre all scored to make it three transatlantic wins from three following their impressive 2-0 victory in Argentina. The clash was also delayed by a subsequent half an hour when the players were marched off after a second strike but Steve Borthwick's side, who did concede late on when Shilo Klein crashed over for the hosts, kept their composure to stroll to a comfortable triumph. Boss Borthwick, 45, believes his players did 'brilliantly' to deal with the unique scenario and says they're moving in the right direction after a summer tour to savour. 'The way the players handled it was brilliant,' said Borthwick, who handed debuts to Oghre, Max Ojomoh, Joe Carpenter, Arthur Clark, Charlie Atkinson and Oscar Beard on Saturday night. 'They were challenging conditions, and with the weather break the game has lasted a long time. 'It's a scenario none of us have faced before – to deal with those conditions, with six new caps in the team today, was magnificent. 'There are things you want to do better, yes, but I thought they were brilliant. 'I'm pleased with the way the players have approached all the games - all three were very different, and it's been a great experience in so many ways. 'We've had 10 new caps over three Tests and got depth developing – we can all see the physical nature of the team, which is athletic, quick, fit and the way the England team's moving.' The result stretches England's current winning run to seven matches, their longest since back in 2020 ahead of upcoming autumn internationals against the likes of Australia and New Zealand at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham. Langdon, Northmore and Murley all dotted down in the opening period that also saw USA fly-half Chris Hilsenbeck pick up a yellow card. And Van Poortvliet, Randall and Oghre added three more in the second to help England power to victory. USA grabbed a late consolation through Klein to give the home fans who remained something to cheer about but England's work was done as they ended their triumphant tour in style. Borthwick played last time England were touring the USA back in 2001, where Sir Clive Woodward's side toppled the Eagles 48-19 in San Francisco. And asked about comparisons between that tour and this one, the former second row added: 'My memories were we were getting changed in the swimming pool changing room, so a leisure complex!
