Baldanzi discusses Roma's turnaround in season's second half
Roma attacker Tommaso Baldanzi spoke to DAZN about the team's turnaround in the second half of the season and ahead of the final nine matchdays of Serie A.
'Honestly, I don't know what changed, but something happened,' he said after Roma's win over Cagliari.
'In my opinion, we are an extraordinary group and precisely because in the first part of the season we faced difficult moments, we don't want to go back to that and we want to always do better.'
'We know we can't leave anything behind, we want to get three points every Sunday. We are a strong group.'
'On a personal level, I feel the coach's trust a lot, I went through a moment where I played a little less but I always tried to work for these chances.'
He added, 'We are doing well and we have to continue like this.'

5 Italy players to watch out for in the U21 Euros
The 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship final tournament begins next week in Slovakia. The tournament in its previous editions has thrown up several stars who first gained prominence during this tournament. Italy are in a difficult group with Spain, Romania and hosts Slovakia. That being said, there is enough talent in the squad for them to do well. Here, we look at 5 of their players you should watch out for. 5. Matteo Ruggeri – Matteo Ruggeri is 22 and has made 30 appearances in the Serie A this season for Atalanta. He is a left wing-back with a good cross in his locker. He has already been called up to the senior team before. 4. Wilfried Gnonto – His first season in the Premier League was a remarkable one but his stock has fallen a little. Still only 21, the attacker contributed to 15 goals as Leeds won the Championship. 3. Tommaso Baldanzi – An interesting midfielder currently playing backup to Paulo Dybala at Roma. A good playmaker, this could be the tournament where Baldanzi makes headlines. 2. Michael Kayode – Perhaps presently the best player on this list, Kayode's loan move from Fiorentina to Brentford recently became permanent. It will shock nobody if the right-back moves to a bigger club within a year. 1. Cesare Casadei – A powerful box-to-box midfield, Casadei came up as a highly-rated youth prospect. He didn't make the greatest impact in England but a move back to Italy with Torino has worked out well so far. In the 2023 U20 World Cup, he won both the Golden Ball and Golden Boot awards. Claudio Ranieri turns down Italian national team job
Claudio Ranieri has turned down the opportunity to succeed Luciano Spalletti as Italy head coach. Spalletti said on Sunday he had been sacked as head coach ahead of the 2026 World Cup, after a 3-0 defeat to Norway on Friday — their first qualification match for the tournament. The 66-year-old had replaced Roberto Mancini in August 2023, but had a turbulent rein with a disappointing Euro 2024 campaign ending with a last-16 defeat to Switzerland. Advertisement Spalletti, who won Napoli's first league title in 33 years in 2022-23, oversaw 11 wins in his 23 matches in charge of the national team. Ranieri was offered the chance to take on the role, which would have been a 25th job of his career, but is instead set to stay at Roma in an executive position above new coach Gian Piero Gasperini after a successful temporary period in charge of the team. Ranieri was appointed in November with the club 16th in Serie A but helped them finish one point from Champions League qualification in fifth. 'I'd like to thank president (Gabriele) Gravina for the opportunity, a great honour, but I have reflected and decided to remain at Roma's disposal in my new position completely,' Ranieri said in a statement to Italian news agency ANSA. 'The Friedkins have given me their full support and backing for whatever decision I have taken regarding the national team, but the decision is mine alone.' The 73-year-old previously stepped down as Cagliari head coach in May 2024 after winning promotion from Serie B in 2023 and securing their top-flight status the following season. The Italian is most well-known for leading Leicester City to their against-the-odds Premier League title in the 2015-16 season, while he also won the Coppa Italia, Copa del Rey and UEFA Super Cup during his time in management. Ranieri's distinguished coaching career encompassed spells at Napoli, Fiorentina, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Chelsea, Parma, Juventus, Roma, Inter, Monaco, the Greek national team, Sampdoria and Watford, among others. Inter decide to sign Zalewski permanently
Inter have decided to activate the buy option and make Nicola Zalewski's signing permanent. As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter will sign Zalewski to a permanent contract, thus guaranteeing Roma a revenue of €6.5 million. Advertisement Despite the change on the bench and the departure of Simone Inzaghi, the Nerazzurri management wanted to confirm their faith in the player, focusing on him as an important player for the future. For Roma, this is a useful operation to raise money, especially in view of new investments to be made on the market. After the revenue from the sales of Le Fée and Dahl, this is another strategic entry that allows the club to operate with greater margin on incoming negotiations. Meanwhile, Zalewski leaves the capital once and for all and prepares for a new chapter in his career.
