Bukit Aman probes leaked JAC meeting minutes amid police investigation
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail stated that Bukit Aman's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is handling the case under multiple laws, including the Official Secrets Act 1972.
The leaked document, believed to be from a May JAC meeting, first appeared on Reddit before spreading across Facebook and X.
Mohd Khalid warned the public against sharing classified information, stressing that offenders would face legal consequences.
Authorities are scrutinising the exposure and dissemination of the document both internally and online.
'All competent witnesses will be called to assist investigations,' he said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 8 of the Official Secrets Act, Section 203A of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. – Bernama

GEORGE TOWN: A disabled baker in Penang has lost more than RM500,000 after falling for a bogus job offer advertised on TikTok, according to acting state police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin. He said the incident began in early December last year when the 45-year-old man was first contacted via WhatsApp in early December last year by a woman who claimed to offer a lucrative job selling children's toys through the platform. "He was promised profits of 10 to 15 per cent and was asked to make payments to cover the cost of goods allegedly ordered by customers," he said in a statement on Saturday (July 19) night. The victim proceeded to make 41 cash deposit transactions amounting to RM523,350 into five different bank accounts between Dec 18, 2024, and July 14 this year. Despite repeated payments, the promised returns never materialised, and the suspect continued requesting additional funds under the guise of job-related expenses. The victim lodged a report on Friday (July 18) at the Timur Laut district police headquarters (IPD) upon realising he had been scammed, with the case being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. - Bernama

PETALING JAYA : Police have announced the appointment of five new state chiefs and transfers of several senior officers effective Aug 18. Police secretary Kamaruzaman Abdullah said the transfers involved Bukit Aman management department deputy director (administration) Azizee Ismail, who was appointed as Penang police chief, with the rank of acting commissioner. He said Kuala Lumpur Police College commandant Shazeli Kahar was appointed as Selangor police chief. Bukit Aman criminal investigations department deputy director (intelligence/operations) Fadil Marsus was appointed as Kuala Lumpur police chief. Kedah deputy police chief Adzli Abu Shah was appointed as the new state police chief. Bukit Aman management department deputy director (service/position) Ab Rahaman Arsad was appointed as Johor police chief. Kamaruzaman said the transfers also affected 18 other senior officers, including Bukit Aman IGP secretariat head of licensing (firearms licence) Nazri Zawawi, who was appointed as Bukit Aman management department deputy director (service/position).
