‘Traumatic': Video of Mumbai man laughing as his pitbull bites boy inside auto-rickshaw sparks outrage
A pitbull attacked an 11-year-old boy in Mumbai after the dog was deliberately unleashed on him by its owner. The shocking incident occurred in the Mankhurd area on Thursday and has sparked outrage on social media.
In the viral video, the frightened boy is seen inside an auto-rickshaw with the pitbull sitting beside him. The dog's owner, identified as 43-year-old Mohammad Sohail Hasan, was seated in the front of the rickshaw and can be seen laughing at the boy's cries for help.
As the video continues, the boy screams after the dog lunges at him, biting his chin. He somehow manages to flee the rickshaw, even as the dog grabs hold of his clothes. Instead of intervening, the owner is seen laughing while the dog chases the boy.

The video quickly drew attention, sparking a massive backlash. Several social media users demanded strict action against the dog's owner. 'How traumatic that experience would have been for the kid. These people sorry these psychopaths needs to punished severely, so that any idiot should never dare such atrocities. @MumbaiPolice please take action and check the mental health of the kid please,' a user wrote. Another person wrote, 'It is the human that is the problem, not the animal.'
'Same treatment should done to him (the dog's owner),' another user commented. 'India needs US type law enforcement. Until then there is no hope,' a third user reacted.
According to PTI, the victim has been identified and a case filed. Following a complaint by child's father, police filed an FIR on Friday. As per the FIR, the man allegedly let his dog loose on the boy, who had been playing inside a parked auto-rickshaw.
The case has been filed under Section 291 (negligent handling of animals), Section 125 (causing simple hurt), and Section 125(A) of the Indian Penal Code (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita). Additionally, Hasan has been served a notice under Section 35(3) of the BNS, PTI reported.

The attackers could be heard issuing threats to shoot the victim in public if he dared to speak out as they forced him to lick spit from the ground. Officials said the video of the assault was allegedly recorded by the accused and uploaded online to further shame the boy. 'They forced him to lick spit and threatened to shoot him in public if he spoke out. The trauma has left my son terrified and he has locked himself inside the house since,' the mother was quoted as saying by news agency PTI. Based on preliminary investigation, Chiluatal station house officer (SHO) Atul Srivastava said the 'assault was a reaction to a teasing incident at school'. 'The video is being thoroughly examined and appropriate legal action will be taken,' he said. Srivastava said that the two accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.

Ghaziabad: Two women among four arrested for trafficking newborns to childless couples
Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad police on Thursday arrested four people, including two women, for their alleged involvement in a child trafficking racket that supplied infant or newborn children to childless couples, the police officials said. The police also recovered pictures of several other infants and minors along with pricing details,messages and voice chats from suspect Sandhya's phone. (Sakib Ali/HT Photo) The arrests came in connection with the case involving the kidnapping of a one-year-old boy who was picked up by two unidentified men outside his house in Loni on August 4. The accused are identified as Naved Ansari (19), a Loni resident; Afsar Ali (28) and Shaista Waseem (35) from Shamli and Sandhya Chauhan (37) from Muzaffarnagar. The officials said that Shaista had contacted Afsar to arrange a one-year-old boy for a woman, identified as Ranjana (single name), who is a nurse at a private hospital in Moradabad. Later, Afsar roped in Naved and allegedly kidnapped the boy from his house around 4.30pm on August 4 and fled on a bike. Fearing action from the boy's family, the duo abandoned the boy at the house of a local woman and fled. 'With the help of CCTV footage, the boy was traced and the four suspects were and Afsar were promised ₹25,000 each to deliver the child to Shaista, who would then send the boy to Sandhya in Muzaffarnagar. Sandhya had sent a picture of the boy to eight of her contacts, and one of these are a nurse in Moradabad,' said Siddharth Gautam, ACP of Loni circle. Officials said Sandhya allegedly shared the boy's picture with her contacts in Delhi, Bijnor, Moradabad, Roorkee, and Amroha, among others. The officials said that Sandhya confessed that the nurse opted to get the kidnapped boy after she fixed a deal with a childless couple for ₹2.5 lakh. The police also recovered pictures of several other infants and minors along with pricing details,messages and voice chats from Sandhya's phone. Officials said that Sandhya runs a marriage bureau in Muzaffarnagar and is in contact with couples who are childless for years. 'Sandhya also told us that the nurse in Moradabad had also provided an infant boy to a childless couple in Dehradun last year. The nurse is absconding, and is the fifth suspect in the case. The evidence of dealings, voice chats, and pictures of several newborns has been recovered from Sandhya's mobile. These were shared between her selected contacts. She also said that the price and demand for a supply of infant boys having fair colour is high. With the revelation, it appears that it is a larger network,' the ACP added. The matter will now be handed over to the human-trafficking unit of the Ghaziabad police. Naved and Afsar were arrested from the Nishant Colony area and Shaista and Sandhya from near Khadkhadi railway station in Loni. An FIR was registered under BNS section 143(4) (trafficking of a child) at Tronica City police station on August 4.

NIA court frames charges in LeT's transnational terror funding case
The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday announced that the NIA Court in Srinagar has framed charges against two residents of South Kashmir in a major transnational terror funding case linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). During the probe, investigators found that Shabir Ahmad Bhat maintained constant communication with LeT handler Sumama through encrypted messaging apps. (File) According to officials, the Court of Special Judge designated under the NIA Act in Srinagar framed charges under FIR No. 02/2024, investigated by the CIK. The charges were brought under Sections 13, 38, 39, and 40 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, along with Section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code. Those charged include Shabir Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Khadermoh Kakapora, and Javaid Ahmad Yatoo from Patalbagh Pampore. Proceedings have also been initiated against Sumama alias Babar alias Ilyas, a Pakistan-based LeT handler who remains absconding. Officials said the case revolves around a criminal conspiracy orchestrated by LeT commanders across the Line of Control, in coordination with Pakistani nationals based in Gulf countries and other foreign territories. The investigation revealed that funds were being covertly routed into Jammu and Kashmir using a network of couriers posing as pilgrims, expatriates, and businessmen, disguising the money trail under the guise of religious and commercial travel. During the probe, investigators found that Shabir Ahmad Bhat maintained constant communication with LeT handler Sumama through encrypted messaging apps. While in Saudi Arabia for Umrah, Bhat allegedly received large sums of Saudi Riyals from known LeT operatives in Madina. He then instructed other Kashmiri Umrah pilgrims to collect money from designated individuals, whose details were shared by him. Upon returning to Kashmir, the couriers reportedly handed over the collected funds to Bhat. He then converted the foreign currency into Indian rupees and distributed it among active militants and their families on the handler's instructions. Further investigation identified Javaid Ahmad Yatoo as a key facilitator who helped establish and maintain contact between Bhat and the Pakistan-based handler. His role was described as critical to the smooth operation of the transnational funding network. 'The framing of charges in this case marks a significant step in CIK's continued efforts to identify and dismantle covert terror funding operations,' a CIK spokesperson said. Just a day earlier, the CIK had claimed to have busted a major terror funding module in New Delhi, arresting two Kashmir residents who were allegedly acting as financial conduits for LeT by routing money from abroad into the Valley. In addition, Mohammad Ayoub Bhat of Budgam and Mohammad Rafiq Shah of Qamarwari, Srinagar, were also arrested recently in connection with the same case. Investigators seized electronic devices, bank statements, transaction records, and other documents that reportedly reveal a deep-rooted hawala infrastructure being used to finance terror activities.
