UN Selects Egypt as 1st Country to Implement CHAMPS Initiative for Child Protection

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has chosen Egypt as the first country in the world to implement the CHAMPS initiative, a global effort aimed at enhancing prevention systems for children up to the age of 18.
The announcement was made during the 68th session of the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), currently being held at the UN headquarters in Vienna.
Dr. Maya Morsy, Egypt's Minister of Social Solidarity and Chairperson of the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse, delivered a recorded speech at the event. She expressed her delight at Egypt's selection, emphasizing the country's commitment to protecting children and adolescents from drug abuse and other societal risks. She also welcomed Dr. Ghada Waly, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UNODC, along with Egyptian Ambassador to Austria Mohamed Nasr and other distinguished delegates.
Dr. Ghada Waly officially opened the 68th INCB session, which is being attended by 2,000 participants, including ministers of foreign affairs and interior, diplomats, and experts from around the world. The Egyptian delegation includes Dr. Amr Othman, Director of the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse, Major General Mohamed Zohair, Director of the General Administration for Drug Control, and Medhat Wahba, Managing Editor of Youm7 Newspaper.
In her speech, Dr. Morsy highlighted the importance of the CHAMPS initiative, describing it as a groundbreaking, evidence-based approach to safeguarding children from infancy through adolescence. She noted that the initiative serves as a beacon of prevention, reinforcing children's resilience and protecting them from substance abuse and other developmental risks.
Egypt's selection by UNODC underscores the country's pivotal role in global drug prevention efforts and its commitment to international obligations in combating drug abuse and illicit trafficking. The initiative, launched in October 2024, was officially adopted by Egypt in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development, the Minister of Health and Population, and the UN Under-Secretary-General.
Dr. Morsy reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering political commitment to the CHAMPS initiative, emphasizing that it aligns with the nation's dedication to securing a safer and healthier future for its children.

The Key to Keeping Your Family Healthy and Your Food Fresh

Pasant Elzaitony Your fridge is more than just a cold cabinet—it's the first line of defense for food safety and flavor. In today's fast-paced lifestyle, organizing and cleaning it smartly is a necessity, not a luxury. 1. The Golden Rule: A Place for Everything Bottom Shelf : Reserve this for raw meat and fish, storing them in airtight containers to prevent liquid leaks and cross-contamination. Middle Shelf: For milk, juices, eggs, and dairy products. Top Shelf: For ready-to-eat items like cheese, yogurt, and cooked meats. 2. Drawers… The Freshness Guardians Store fruits and vegetables in the designated crisper drawers, adjusting humidity levels to keep them fresh for longer. 3. The Door… For Heat-Resistant Items Use the fridge door for sauces, sodas, and juices. Avoid placing highly perishable foods like milk and eggs here, as the temperature is slightly warmer. 4. Don't Overcrowd… Let the Air Flow Leave space between items to allow cold air to circulate evenly throughout the fridge. 5. Vinegar… Your Natural Sanitizer Wipe down shelves and drawers weekly with a water-and-vinegar solution. It's a natural disinfectant that eliminates odors and kills bacteria. In Short: A well-organized and regularly cleaned fridge means healthier meals, less waste, and more time saved in the kitchen. read more 15 Ludicrous Cosplay Costumes That Will Blow You Away Watch... Egyptian singer Angham recovers after successful pancreatic surgery

Egyptian TV host Mahmoud Saad announced that singer Angham underwent a successful surgical procedure on Thursday to remove part of her pancreas. On his official Facebook page, Saad wrote: 'Thank God for Angham's safety. As I told you yesterday, Angham entered the operating room today to remove the remaining part of the cyst on her pancreas, along with a small part of the organ itself. The operation was delicate and not easy, but thank God it went well and was successful. She is doing well, thank God. We pray for Angham to recover quickly and return safely.' Saad had previously revealed an update on the singer's health after a recent health scare, explaining that she was scheduled to have part of her pancreas removed. He wrote on Facebook: 'The latest health news on Angham, to reassure her fans: The doctors initially removed a portion of the cyst on her pancreas, and later decided to remove the entire cyst along with a small part of the pancreas. She is fine and will have this surgery tomorrow morning. Please pray for her; may God heal her and help her recover safely.' Saad had earlier reassured the public about Angham's health, confirming that while she was in severe pain, she was not in danger. In a live broadcast on his Facebook page, he said: 'We were in contact today, and I'm following up with her and her son, Omar. He's been reassuring me about her, but she's not well; she's in a lot of pain. She's going through a difficult time because of some issues. God willing, in three or four days, we might know more. Please pray for her because she is going through severe pain, but there is no immediate danger. She is okay and needs our prayers for the intense pain she is enduring.'

EAPD seeking doctors for Egyptian hospitals in Gabon, Eritrea - Foreign Affairs

The Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) issued a call for internists and ophthalmologists to work in the Egyptian-Gabonese Hospital in Libreville and the Egyptian clinic in the Eritrean capital, Asmara. On Wednesday, the EAPD announced that French-speaking internists wishing to work in Gabon and English-speaking ophthalmologists wishing to work in Eritrea must have a master's degree and at least five years of experience. It added that the contracts will span one year, with the option to renew for up to four years. Applicants should not be older than 55 years. They should send their CVs to the designated email by 25 August: [email protected]. The announcement comes as Egypt strengthens relations with various African countries through the EAPD. The EAPD, established in June 2014, is a government agency under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is dedicated to supporting Africa's development aspirations through capacity building, knowledge transfer, and promoting creative industries. In 2019, Egypt's Ministry of Health opened the Egyptian clinic in Asmara, under the slogan of "Long live Egypt-Africa," and dispatched a medical team of Egyptian ophthalmologists to Eritrea. In 2021, the EAPD signed a cooperation protocol with Egypt's General Authority for Healthcare (GAH) to train the medical sector of African expatriates in various fields and introduce Egypt's experience in developing the health system. The protocol, which aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and the African Union Agenda 2063, also covers cooperation in transferring the experience of the Good Life initiative in the health sector to African countries. In June, the EAPD launched a pioneering study titled "The Investment Map in Africa," which will support Egyptian companies seeking to expand into African markets. The study will help Egyptian businesses explore new markets across Africa and offer detailed insights into promising sectors such as agriculture, mining, construction, technology, renewable energy, and water resource management. During his West African tour in July, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's ongoing efforts to support development in Africa, particularly through the activities of the EAPD.
