Jake Paul can't resist taking instant dig at UFC's new $8billion TV deal

The 'Problem Child' - who has been critical of the UFC in the past - was quick to have his say after Paramount penned a staggering deal with the UFC Jake Paul has brutally ripped into the UFC's new media deal and has viciously called for fighters to get their "worth." Dana White's organisation will have all of its fights broadcast on Paramount+ in the USA - which means no more pay-per-view TV. ‌ The historic deal is worth $7.7billion (£5.74bn) over seven years and will begin next year. Following the news, White said: "This historic deal with Paramount and CBS is incredible for UFC fans and our athletes. For the first time ever, fans in the US will have access to all UFC content without a pay-per-view model, making it more affordable and accessible to view the greatest fights on a massive platform. ‌ "This deal puts UFC amongst the biggest sports in the world. The exposure provided by the Paramount and CBS networks under this new structure is a huge win for our athletes and anyone who watches and loves this sport." Over the years, Paul has constantly hit out at the MMA organisation over its fighter pay. The YouTuber-turned-boxer and the UFC supremo have constantly traded barbs on the matter. ‌ And, following the lucrative deal, the 'Problem Child' was quick to offer his verdict. In a post uploaded to X, the 28-year-old boxing star posted: "The hubris from these guys is unreal if ur their partner. 1st they talk about getting into boxing with no risk & charging fees on fees on fees from their partners who are putting up the money. "Now they are saying PPV is dead when they have a PPV this weekend with Du Plessis and another one with Pereira and another one with Aspinal…& another 1 with." A separate post read: "Every fighter in the UFC now has a clear picture of what the revenue is…no more PPV excuses. Get your worth boys and girls." Despite the stunning news, nothing has changed for UK MMA fans as they are still able to access UFC events through a regular TNT Sports subscription. That said, the announcement comes as a great surprise to American fans as it means the pay-per-view model will no longer exist from 2026. Last year, on an edition of his podcast "BS w/ Jake Paul," the YouTuber-turned-boxer said the UFC can raise minimum fighter pay at such a rate that he wouldn't have anything to criticise. "The only thing I've really asked for is for the minimum fighter pay, which is $12,500, to be changed to $50,000," Paul said. "So that fighters who have to work multiple jobs, if they fight once a year even, they'd be able to live off of that." Reports had previously suggested that ESPN appeared to be in line to renewing their UFC deal, having held the rights to PPV and Fight Night events since 2019. That said, the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Warner Bros. Discovery were also in the running. Nevertheless, Paramount+ will be the new home of the UFC in the US as they enter a new era in 2026. ‌ 'I couldn't be more excited to join forces with Dana, Ari, and Mark. Rarely do opportunities arise to partner on an exclusive basis with a global sports powerhouse like UFC – an organization with extraordinary global recognition, scale, and cultural impact,' said David Ellison, Chairman and CEO of Paramount. 'Paramount's advantage lies in the expansive reach of our linear and streaming platforms. Live sports continue to be a cornerstone of our broader strategy — driving engagement, subscriber growth, and long-term loyalty, and the addition of UFC's year-round must-watch events to our platforms is a major win. We look forward to delivering this premium content to millions of fans in the U.S., and potentially beyond.' When is Jake Paul's next fight? Following his win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr back in June, it seems as if the 'Problem Child' is desperate to remain active in the ring. The social media sensation can now fight for a world title after he was placed in the WBC's cruiserweight rankings following his win over the former middleweight champion. The 28-year-old's business partner revealed his business partner is keen on fighting for a world title 'as soon as possible'. However, he admits it is likely it won't happen next, given the current standings at 200lbs. "Absolutely [he will fight again this year]. November or December," Bidarian told Ariel Helwani when asked about Paul's next steps. "I'm seeing him tonight for dinner, and we will have a conversation [about his next opponent]. The only possibility right now is that Jake wants to fight for a belt as soon as possible. "I have to talk to him, I think it's tough this year [to box for a world title]. Badou Jack is who he wants to fight more than anyone, and he has a mandatory rematch with the guy he just beat [Noel Mikaelian] for the WBC. I don't know if this year is possible [for the title fight], but we'll see."

Revealed: Why a premiership-winning footy coach was left 'absolutely filthy' with US streaming giant Netflix ahead of crunch AFL fixture

AFL boss Chris Fagan was reportedly left 'absolutely filthy' after it emerged that he was not informed that Netflix camera crews would be entering his side's inner sanctum. It was announced earlier this year that the US streaming giant was set to produce a brand new series, akin to it's highly successful Drive to Survive Formula One series, focusing on all things going on in the AFL. The news that the production company would be heading Down Under had excited many, with Brisbane, Fremantle, GWS and Gold Coast all set to feature alongside the Western Bulldogs in the series. It is understood, according to reports in July from SEN, that the docuseries was set to follow individual players, including the likes of Marcus Bontempelli and Toby Greene. But when production teams turned up at The Gabba, premiership-winning coach Fagan was not happy. In fact, according to Channel Seven journalist Caroline Wilson, the legendary footy boss had been left fuming and had he known about Netflix's proposed plans to film his side before hand he would not have agreed to the project. reportedly left 'absolutely filthy' 'AFL staff themselves have now gone on the road with this production crew because they have ruffled feathers,' Wilson said during Monday night's episode of The Agenda Setters. 'But the really strong scenes took place at the Gabba. They (Netflix) turned up the week of the Q-Clash, Chris Fagan was absolutely filthy, said he had no idea that they were coming on board, and had he known, he wouldn't have agreed to it. 'I think he [Fagan] agreed [to host the production company] after a conversation with (footy boss) Danny Daly. Perhaps he hadn't really been paying attention, but I don't think he was thrilled. 'But they've left the Gabba now, they won't be back. 'They're at the Gold Coast — I think there was some dissatisfaction too at the Gold Coast, at how many players they wanted to get involved. Certainly Touk Miller's involved there.' The AFL have previously engaged film agencies to produce television content on the league. The 'Making Their Mark' docu-series, launched in 2021 on Amazon, was perhaps the most notable of those projects. It featured footy greats, Nic Naitanui and Eddie Betts and went behind the scenes at the Crows and Giants. Channel Seven reporter Wilson (pictured) claimed that staff from the AFL have been monitoring the production company after they 'ruffled a few feathers' It comes as series like Drive to Survive, Full Swing and Six Nations: Full Contact have taken huge steps in helping sports like Formula One, Golf and rugby union grow their audiences globally. Fagan, meanwhile, admitted he was disappointed with his forward line following Brisbane's two-point defeat by Sydney on Saturday. Despite a late fightback, the Lions were eclipsed by the Swans at the beginning of the second-half. 'Sixty-five entries. It's a lot, isn't it? It's a lot to lose,' the footy coach said, reflecting on how his side were wayward with their goal kicking. 'We did a lot of things right, but we just didn't win the ground ball in our front half, and they were able to bounce off it and that's the reason they won the game.'

Justin Rose turned down 'absurd' LIV Golf offer before taking his earnings up to £54million

Justin Rose turned down 'absurd' LIV Golf offer before taking his earnings up to £54million Justin Rose set a new PGA record with his victory at the St Jude Championship, having previously explained his reason for turning down an offer to join LIV Golf Justin Rose celebrated winning his 12th PGA Tour title at the FedEx St Jude Championship in Memphis (Image: Matthew Maxey/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images) Justin Rose revealed he rejected a huge offer from LIV Golf because he was determined to win more major championships. ‌ The 45-year-old has become the oldest European to claim a PGA victory in the modern era, following his triumph at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Throughout much of the tournament in Memphis, it appeared that Tommy Fleetwood was poised to secure his first PGA title, but the Englishman relinquished a two-stroke advantage in the final three holes. ‌ This set up a showdown between Rose and recent US Open champion J.J. Spaun after both ended on 16-under-par. Rose prevailed in their three-hole playoff to secure his 12th PGA victory and first since 2023. The win provided extra justification for Rose, who previously admitted to rejecting an absurd amount of money to join LIV due to his ambition to add to his 2013 US Open crown. ‌ "That was a primary factor and, hey, it's almost paid off," Rose told The Telegraph in May. "I've finished runner-up in the last two majors and would I have even been playing if I'd switched across? Who knows? I have no regrets." He earned considerable praise at the Masters despite missing out on the green jacket to Rory McIlroy during a memorable playoff at Quail Hollow. Rose's disappointment at the Masters had followed a T2 placing at The Open last year and he spoke candidly about his motivation to claim more major titles. "I need to know I'm not deluding myself," Rose admitted. "I need to know that I can still do it and this quest for another big one, or two, whatever, is not a forlorn task. Article continues below "That's crucial to me. Sometimes you don't know when you're right in the thick of it. But I have been close – there have been five second places in the majors since Merion. And I feel like I've been closer than ever of late and the record shows it." Justin Rose narrowly missed out on the Masters to Rory McIlroy in April (Image: Erick W. Rasco/Sports Illustrated via Getty Images) Rose has secured runner-up or T2 finishes at the Masters on three occasions and claimed T2 twice at The Open. Despite capturing Olympic gold and helping Europe win four Ryder Cups, Rose's accomplishments remain somewhat overlooked. ‌ After his brilliant performance at the Masters, Rose experienced a temporary slump in form. The upturn came in his sixth place at the Scottish Open last month before securing a tie for 16th at The Open before the St Jude Championship. On Sunday, Rose maintained his composure as Fleetwood crumbled in the closing stages. The 45-year-old relished his playoff triumph over Spaun and was thrilled to see his meticulous preparation rewarded with a £2.6million ($3.6m) windfall. He may have turned down LIV's proposal but Rose has a huge net worth and his St Jude win takes his career earnings on the PGA Tour to £54.5m ($73.1m). Justin Rose claimed his 12th PGA title after defeating JJ Spaun in a play-off (Image:) ‌ "I hit a couple good putts in regulation and in the first playoff hole as well," Rose said after his victory. "Obviously J.J. dropped a bomb on me, I topped him. It was a lot of fun today. "That's why I practice. That's why I play. I've been saying for some time now, obviously Augusta, when I bring my best, I know I'm good enough to play and to compete, and to now win against the best players in the world. Very gratifying day for me and a lot of hard work coming to fruition." When quizzed about his composure during the playoff, Rose told reporters: "Yeah, I've always known I've had that. I get nervous with the best of them. I feel nervous at times. But I know when it matters, I've still got it. Article continues below "I kind of feel better and better and better as it gets more important. That's good to know. It's hard stuff to practice, hard stuff to teach. Nice to know that hasn't left me at this ripe old age," he joked.
