5 Indonesians held in connection with killing of worker in oil palm estate
PETALING JAYA : Police have arrested five Indonesians to assist in investigations into the fatal stabbing of a worker in an oil palm plantation in Paloh, near Kluang, yesterday.
Kluang police chief Bahrin Noh said all five men, aged between 21 and 31, were arrested around Paloh at about 1am today, Bernama reported.
Police were alerted when the man, also an Indonesian, died at the Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital yesterday from a stab wound in the chest at about 9.36am.
Bahrin said investigations found the suspects had no prior convictions for criminal offences. Their urine tests came back negative.
They have been remanded for seven days.

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 19 — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has identified the individual behind the TikTok account 'Dato' Prof Dr Tunku Iskandar', who was found impersonating a pathologist and claiming to have been involved in the post-mortem of Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir. The Ministry of Health confirmed that the suspect was not a pathologist, MCMC said in a statement today. 'The individual was traced near Kota Damansara late last night based on information from the statements of two people who had also joined the account's 'TikTok Live' session. 'The suspect was then taken to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters to have his statement recorded, while his communication devices were also seized for further investigation and analysis,' the statement said. MCMC said the dissemination of false information, particularly involving sensitive issues such as deaths, tragedies or accident victims, is a serious offence that can hurt the feelings of families, mislead the public and disrupt investigations by the authorities. The case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588). The investigation paper will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further instruction. If convicted, the offender may face a maximum fine of RM500,000 or up to two years' imprisonment, or both. In addition, police are also investigating the case under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 505(b) of the Penal Code. — Bernama

Johor police record statements from seven people in probe into alleged bullying of cancer-stricken 10-year-old boy
JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 19 — Police said today they have taken statements from seven individuals as part of investigations into the alleged bullying case involving a 10-year-old boy who is suffering from cancer. Johor police chief CP Ab Rahaman Arsad said the individuals included the medical officer who treated the victim, a school student, a family member and other witnesses. 'There is a possibility that we will call other witnesses to complete the investigation depending on the results of the victim's medical report,' he said after visiting the boy Izzul Islam Azuan Isaidi at the KPJ Puteri Hospital here. 'At present, the victim is still being monitored and the hospital cannot issue a report until he has fully completed his treatment. 'Police will wait for the victim's full medical report before investigating the allegation that he suffered a concussion after being allegedly bullied and beaten by his schoolmates,' he added. Witness in Lim Guan Eng's undersea tunnel trial says ‘too traumatised' to testify after violent robbery
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 — Witness G Gnanaraja reportedly told the Sessions Court here today that he was unable to testify for Lim Guan Eng's undersea tunnel corruption trial, as he was still traumatised following the violent robbery earlier this month. It is not that I don't want to cooperate [with the court], but I want to ensure my safety first,' he said. Judge Azura Alwi said it was the responsibility of the police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to take all measures necessary to safeguard Gnanaraja. Deputy public prosecutor Mahadi Abdul Jumaat informed the court that since Gnanaraja was not mentally fit, they would call investigating officer Zulhilmi Ramli as the next witness. The trial will resume on August 27. Earlier this month, police confirmed that Gnanaraja sustained injuries during a group robbery at a residence in Jalan Bukit Gasing, Petaling Jaya, and clarified that the incident was not linked to the ongoing court case. Gnanaraja previously said that he would seek protection under the witness protection programme after suffering injuries to his face and hand during the incident. Lim is accused of using his position as Penang chief minister to solicit a 10 per cent cut of the profits from the proposed undersea tunnel project and accepting RM3.3 million in kickbacks. He also faces two charges of dishonestly misappropriating RM208.7 million worth of state land.
