Inside Shannen Doherty's $14m+ longtime mansion
The 'Beverly Hills 90210' star died at the age of 53 after a year-long battle with cancer.
Described as her personal 'sanctuary', the actress snapped up the estate in 2004 for $2.56 million ($A3.93 million), Realtor reports.
It was the home where she was able to escape the hustle and bustle of Hollywood during her lengthy cancer battle.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the property has been put on the market by the 'Charmed' star's longtime friend, real estate agent Chris Cortazzo, who is also serving as the executor of Doherty's estate.
Speaking to the outlet, Mr Cortazzo — who met Doherty in the 1990s after she went to view one of his listings — revealed how the actress first fell in love with the property, noting that she was most drawn to the privacy offered at the elegant estate.
'When you're a notable figure, your home becomes your sanctuary,' he explained — adding that Doherty would regularly host her 'very close, intimate circle of friends' at the house, where she threw Italian Night every week, as well as a Dancing Night.
Mr Cortazzo revealed that, because the actress had no children, the profits from the sale of her home will go to her mother, Rosa.
Doherty was legally still married to her third husband, photographer Kurt Iswarienko, at the time of her death.
However, she had split from him in 2023, and their divorce was finalised just two days after she passed.
Though Doherty purchased the five-bedroom property in 2004, she carried out an extensive renovation in 2018 after the property was damaged in the Woolsey Fire that same year.
Mr Cortazzo revealed the home is filled with different treasures that the actress collected while travelling around the world.
Doherty's property boasts stunning views of the surrounding area, particularly from the primary suite, which features a retractable glass wall.
Inside the dwelling, the main living space boasts beamed ceilings, an expansive kitchen with custom cabinetry, and a largely neutral aesthetic that is peppered with more unique decor items, such as sliding barn doors that separate the dining room from the den.
'Tucked behind mature hedging on one of Malibu's most desirable streets, this exquisite estate presents a striking blend of California modernism and rustic refinement,' the listing notes.
'Completely reimagined with an emphasis on natural light, flow, and function, the property exudes a sense of serenity from the moment you arrive.'
Outside, the home features a glittering lap pool that overlooks the ocean, while hedges that border the one-acre property help to ensure complete privacy from prying eyes, something that Doherty is said to have prized.
The yard also boasts an edible garden, as well as a canopy of trees to provide natural shade on hot days.
'Beyond the main residence, the grounds unfold into a spectacular lifestyle setting,' the description continues.
'A sleek lap pool with integrated spa is flanked by sun loungers and bordered by lush privacy hedges.
'Tiered gardens bloom with vibrant plantings, and a thoughtfully designed dining terrace invites open-air meals beneath the trees.
'A fully realised edible garden, complete with raised beds and fruiting trees, enhances the property's sense of abundance and connection to nature.'
In addition to the main house, the property also features a detached guesthouse, which can be used as a studio space, additional bedroom, or even a fitness centre.
Doherty purchased the home three years after she ended her three-year run as Prue Halliwell on 'Charmed' and 10 years after she quit her hit role in 'Beverly Hills, 90210.'
However, the actress's on-screen career had begun long before she landed the part of Brenda Walsh — having started when she was just a child and appeared in several TV spots, before securing the role of Jenny Wilder on 'Little House on the Prairie.'
After Doherty was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in 2015, she began openly documenting her health journey, candidly revealing the many different treatments she was undergoing, while continuing to share her positive outlook on life even as she battled the debilitating disease.
In 2017, the actress revealed that her cancer was in remission — however, just two years later it returned, with Doherty announcing that the disease had advanced to Stage 4.
'I don't think that I've processed it. It's a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways,' she admitted during a February 2020 interview with Good Morning America.
'My first reaction is always concern about, 'How am I going to tell my mum? My husband?' 'My mum is a ridiculously strong, courageous human being. So is my husband, but I worry about him.'
She added: 'I'm petrified. I'm pretty scared. There are definitely days where I say, 'Why me?' And then I go, 'Why not me? Who else? Who else besides me deserves this?' None of us do.'
Less than a year before her passing, Doherty spoke to People about her determination to keep fighting her cancer.
She told the outlet in November 2023: 'I'm not done with living. I'm not done with loving. I'm not done with creating. I'm not done with hopefully changing things for the better.
'I'm just not done.'
The actress regularly spoke out about her cancer battle on her hit podcast, 'Let's Be Clear,' on which Cortazzo appeared on several occasions.
During one of those occasions, Mr Cortazzo and Doherty discussed how their 'casual real estate relationship' blossomed into a close bond 'full of love, laughter, and even a few screaming matches along the way,' the description revealed.
The duo also opened up about how they were working together to plan the future of Doherty's estate, as well as her ideal funeral plans.
'In this episode, the BFF's find a way to chuckle through the toughest conversations … from funeral lists to estate planning, to the unknown road ahead. Everyone needs a Chris by their side,' the description went on.
Doherty's death was confirmed by her longtime publicist, Leslie Sloane, in a statement made to the outlet on July 14.
It read: 'It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease.'

‘Insane': Country star Zach Bryan mocked for dating ‘clone' of ex-girlfriend
Country singer Zach Bryan's alleged new girlfriend has social media star Dave Portnoy doing a double take. The Barstool Sports founder expressed disbelief on Thursday's Unnamed Show episode over how much Samantha Leonard looks like Bryan's ex — and Portnoy's employee — Brianna 'Chickenfry' LaPaglia. 'Have you seen his girlfriend?' the 48-year-old asked his podcast co-hosts, Kirk Minihane and Ryan Whitney. Portnoy shared side-by-side photos of LaPaglia, 26, and Leonard, noting, 'That is not Brianna. It's insane. I mean, how is that even possible?' Bryan, notably, was linked to Leonard last month when she included a photo of them at Spain's Running of the Bulls in an Instagram slideshow. Reddit users have since called her resemblance to LaPaglia 'actually crazy' and 'scary,' with one writing, 'This is what Kanye [West] did to Kim [Kardashian] with Bianca [Censori]. Such loser behaviour.' A third called Leonard LaPaglia's 'clone.' On Thursday, the Unnamed Show hosts all struggled to tell Bryan's past and present flames apart, with Portnoy quipping, 'I honestly don't even know what I'm looking at here … He went and built a Brianna 2.0 in the lab. I mean, that's insane.' Reps for LaPaglia and Bryan did not immediately respond to Page Six's requests for comment. The exes dated from 2023 to 2024, with the BFFs podcast co-host accusing Bryan of emotional abuse after they called it quits. She also called out the Something in the Orange singer for allegedly trying to get her to sign an NDA for $18 million, which she refused. While Bryan has yet to comment on the allegations, he brought the breakup back into headlines last month by dissing LaPaglia in a TikTok comment. He insisted 'River Washed Hair' was not written about LaPaglia because she isn't 'sweet' — and subsequently shared a couple screenshots of texts she had sent him. At the time, LaPaglia clapped back at her ex 'crashing out' and 'attacking' her while providing receipts of her own. She Googled 'how do i file a restraining order' on Monday when Bryan posted a video burning a Barstool Sports flag. LaPaglia has not debuted any new relationships since she and Bryan called it quits, telling Page Six in January that she is leaving 'all men' behind this year. Bryan, for his part, went public with Aussie Hannah Duncan in March, but their current status remains unclear. Prior to Chickenfry, the songwriter was married to Rose Madden from 2020 to 2021 and dated Deb Peifer from 2022 to 2023.

Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband dies hours after
Singer Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock has died after a private battle with cancer. News of his passing surfaced just hours after Clarkson issued a statement to abruptly cancel her next run of shows in Las Vegas, explaining to fans that 'while I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.' That statement was the first indication from Clarkson about what exactly had been going on behind the scenes, in a year where multiple concert cancellations and sudden absences from her daytime talk show had fans worried. 'It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years,' his family said in a statement published by Page Six today. 'He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time,' the statement concluded. TMZ reported today that Blackstock had been suffering from the serious skin cancer melanoma for some time, and passed away in hospice care on Thursday morning, local time, just hours after Clarkson had issued her statement. Clarkson and Blackstock wed in 2013 and have two children together: A daughter River, 11, and a son Remy, 9. Talent manager Blackstock was the former stepson of one of Clarkson's musical heroes, country music superstar Reba McEntire. The pair went through an acrimonious divorce in 2022, with Clarkson describing the split at the time as 'a really sh**ty thing.' In early July, Clarkson cancelled the opening night of her Studio Sessions Las Vegas residency just 90 minutes before showtime. Back in March, Clarkson also mysteriously missed 10 episodes of her self-titled talk show on NBC, with her role being filled by a variety of celebrity guest hosts. Clarkson missed two weeks of the show without warning and returned with no explanation of her absence, citing only 'personal reasons', which sparked more concerns for her wellbeing. 'I just want to know if Kelly is okay because it's now been kind of a long time,' one tweeted at the time, as another wondered, 'Is Kelly okay?' Last month, a source told Page Six that the singer's personal life was currently 'insanely complicated.' 'Kelly is fighting some serious hidden battles that very few people are privy to,' the source said. 'It's a source of emotional and therefore physical distress for her.'

Freakier Friday review: A fine, fun addition to Disney's catalogue of reboots
Going into a film like Freakier Friday, it's essential to adjust one's expectations. Fast facts Freakier Friday: What: 22 years after their first life swap, mum and daughter Tess and Anna once again wake up in a new body — but this time, a new generation is caught up in the mayhem too. Starring: Lindsay Lohan, Jamie Lee Curtis, Chad Michael Murray, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. Director: Nisha Ganatra Where: In cinemas now. Likely to make you feel: Like calling your mum. Any sequel — let alone a reboot made 22 years after its original — is never going to hit the same as its beloved predecessor. The new film tries to please dual audiences; fans with fond memories of the noughties hit, many of whom are now parents themselves, and modern kids and teens who have their contemporary taste in film. The result is a bubbly, quippy, Disney-channel style blend of bright colours, battle-of-the-generations comedy and a Chappell Roan soundtrack. Of course, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis were not the first to take on the body-swap classic. Based on the 1972 novel of the same name, the first film adaptation came in 1976, starring Barbara Harris and a young Jodie Foster. The role pushed the teenager towards stardom, earned three Golden Globe nominations and was both a critical and box office success. Almost three decades later, the 2003 remake was also a smash hit, poking fun at the explosive relationship between Tess (Curtis) and her teenage daughter Anna (Lohan). After some problematic "Asian voodoo" (classic early 2000s) one night at a Chinese restaurant, the pair magically wakes up in each other's bodies and must make things right before Tess's wedding. In the modern sequel, Lohan's Anna is a single mum and music manager who quickly falls head over heels for handsome single dad Eric (Manny Jacinto). The couple are determined to marry and move their blended family to the UK, much to the dismay of Anna's surf-obsessed teenager Harper (Julia Butters), who is determined to stay in California for the killer swells. While Eric's daughter Lily (Sophia Hammons), whose only personality trait seems to be "British", yearns to return to England. Curtis returns too, taking on the role of overbearing grandma, constantly "helping" her daughter with endless parenting advice and unwelcome assistance to comically relatable effect. Sure enough, the warring women are soon tested once again by a four-way body swap; Anna and Tess wake up in Harper and Lily's bodies, and vice versa. Endless gen Z vs "old people" gags ensue, as do all the classic scenes of the original; mum and grandma end up in detention, the teens give their older bodies a makeover, and so on. Tess's career as a psychologist gets a new spin, with our contemporary obsession with therapy-talk turned into a running joke. And, of course, there's endless nostalgia bait. Chad Michael Murray is back as the endlessly cool Jake, in his first major acting role in what feels like decades. Anna's band, Pink Slip, performs their classic Take Me Away from the original, which (fun fact!) is originally by the Australian band Lash. Anna's little brother, Harry (Ryan Malgarini), now all grown up, even makes a brief appearance, in a sure-fire way to make you feel very old. Mark Harmon of NCIS fame reappears as Tess's now long-term husband, while Stephen Tobolowsky's Mr Bates remains cranky as ever. Freakier Friday is by no means a great film — but no-one expected it to be. The jokes don't always land, the acting is a little overdone, and much of the film feels like a straight-to-TV movie in peak Hollywood, Disney-fied style. But it's also a ton of fun, and retains the intention of its original; it's a mostly silly film about mums and daughters, for mums and daughters. Its main message centres around the intensity of this love, while also driving home the point that all young people want is control over their own lives. Curtis is the clear stand-out of the film, bringing her trademark confidence and unabashed humour to the forefront. Gen Zs and Alphas will enjoy the modern style, which mimics TV hits of their Zeitgeist like Wednesday, The Summer I Turned Pretty, Never Have I Ever and Victorious. And the mums and big sisters who've dragged them along will laugh at all the call-backs to the film that defined many a childhood. Freakier Friday is in cinemas now.
