
New York's inflation refund checks 2025: Check eligibility criteria and expected date to receive
'The 2025–2026 New York State budget provides for the state's first-ever inflation refund checks. These one-time payments provide relief to New Yorkers who have paid increased sales taxes due to inflation. If you qualify for a payment, you do not need to do anything; we will automatically send you a check. Checks will be mailed over a period of several weeks beginning in mid-October of 2025,' reads the official website of the Department of Taxation and Finance of New York.
Eligibility criteria
As per the official website of the Department of Taxation and Finance of New York, 'You are eligible for a refund check if, for tax year 2023, if you filed Form IT-201, New York State Resident Income Tax Return, reported income within the qualifying thresholds below and were not claimed as a dependent on another taxpayer's return.'
How much can I expect to receive?
The amount bound for each resident depends on their income and filing status for the 2023 tax year.
Here is the full list:
Single with $75,000 or less: $200 refund
Single with more than $75,000, but not more than $150,000: $150 refund
Married filing joint with $150,000 or less: $400 refund
Married filing joint with more than $150,000, but not more than $300,000: $300 refund

When and how will I receive the payment?
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you need only wait for the payment to find its way to you. Make sure that your mailing address is up to date on the official New York Department of Taxation website, specifically if you've moved since filing your 2023 tax returns. All payments, even for those scheduled to receive direct deposits, will be made by paper checks.

Minister Sridhar pitches clean energy push at Urja Manthan 2025
HYDERABAD: IT & Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu on Thursday called for a stronger Centre-state collaboration to accelerate India's shift towards sustainable energy. The minister was speaking at the Urja Manthan 2025 conference, organised by the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The conference, chaired by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, deliberated on energy security, green fuel adoption and cooperative federal strategies. While showcasing Telangana's progressive initiatives under its Clean & Green Energy Policy, Sridhar Babu urged the Centre to expand City Gas Distribution networks beyond Hyderabad to tier-2 towns, increase investments in Bhagyanagar Gas Limited, and set up more CNG stations to improve piped gas access in urban and semi-urban areas. To meet industrial and domestic energy demands, the minister proposed joint Centre-state financing for new LNG and CNG terminals. He also emphasised the potential of Telangana's agricultural waste, recommending large-scale investments in Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plants and the adoption of waste-to-energy technologies in agri-rich zones. Sridhar Babu further sought incentives for MSMEs and industries under schemes such as SATAT and the National Green Hydrogen Mission to promote clean fuel adoption across sectors. Highlighting Telangana's strategic position along the East-West pipeline corridor, he urged the Centre to strengthen pipeline infrastructure and make additional investments to support low-cost, gas-based industrialisation.

CM Revanth seeks speedy approval for semiconductor projects in Telangana
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday requested Union Minister for IT and Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw to expeditiously approve the semiconductor projects in Telangana. He also urged the Union minister to approve the proposed Advanced System in Package Technologies (ASIP) project and Micro LED Display Fab Project Crystal Matrix as Telangana is already equipped with world-class infrastructure and has a conducive environment for innovations, state-of-the-art, world-class research and development centres. The chief minister, accompanied by IT & Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu and Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, met Ashwini Vaishnaw at Rail Bhavan in Delhi. During the meeting, the CM brought Telangana's request for the establishment of a high-tech electronics park at Mucherla in Rangareddy district under the EMC 2.0 scheme to the Union minister's notice and urged him to set up a new electronic manufacturing park near the Regional Ring Road (RRR). Meanwhile, appealing to the Railway minister to give permission for new projects to increase railway connectivity in Telangana, the CM said that the Regional Ring Rail project has been proposed parallel to the Regional Ring Road. Since the Railway Board has already given permission for the final location survey, he sought approvals for the `8,000 crore Regional Ring Rail project. The CM briefed the Union minister on the benefits of the Regional Ring Rail, which will increase connectivity between rural and urban areas and reduce traffic congestion at major stations in Hyderabad city. The Regional Ring Rail project will also reduce rural poverty and improve employment opportunities in urban areas, he added.
