Orlando Bloom Teases Pirates of the Caribbean Return With Johnny Depp

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors It's been eight years since the last "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie, but in spite of everything that's happened in the interim, Orlando Bloom seems hopeful that more movies are forthcoming. As reported by Collider, Bloom was promoting "Deep Cover" on ITV's "This Morning" when the question came up of Bloom once more playing Will Turner. The "Lord of the Rings" star expressed hope not only for his own return, but for the rest of "the band." Read More: 'Predator' Director Hints at Arnold Schwarzenegger Return "Well, I don't know, I can't say anything at the moment because I really don't know, but there's definitely availability," Bloom said. "I think they're trying to work out what it would all look like, I personally think it'd be great to get the band back together. That would be great, but there are always different ideas, and so we'll see where it lands." By getting "the band back together," Bloom presumably means not just himself, but former "Pirates" co-stars Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp. Depp is possibly the biggest wild card in the question of whether or not "the band" could ever get back together. Not only have studios still seemed a little hesitant to cast the controversial star, but Depp himself famously stated he wouldn't work for Disney again "for $300 million and a million alpacas." Still, nothing is impossible, and in the case of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" films, Disney has a lot of reasons to potentially revive the franchise. All told, the combined five "Pirates" movies pulled in a global box office of $4.5 billion. While Depp appeared in all five films, Bloom and Knightley only briefly appear in the fifth film, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales", and skipped the fourth, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides". Bloom is no stranger to big adventure franchises or to returning to them after a break. He reprised the role of elf archer Legolas for Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" trilogy and it's possible he might be coming back again. "The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum" is set to be released December 17, 2027, and Bloom could very well be one of the franchise favorites to return along with Andy Serkis.
