State charts roadmap to become India's quantum capital
Speaking at a preparatory meeting at Vikasa Soudha, the minister said, 'Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Shri Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister Shri D.K. Shivakumar, our government is laying the groundwork to position Karnataka as India's Quantum Capital. This dialogue with Nobel Laureates marks the beginning of a long-term roadmap to integrate quantum innovation into Karnataka's development blueprint.'
Karnataka, with Bengaluru as its innovation epicentre, is already home to a thriving ecosystem spanning information technology, aerospace, and biotechnology. With this initiative, the state is aiming to push the frontiers further by building infrastructure and fostering collaborations in quantum computing and related technologies. The summit will feature high-level interactions between Nobel Laureates and senior government officials, including Principal Secretaries of the Departments of Industries, IT & BT, and Higher Education. These discussions are expected to shape policy direction, accelerate research initiatives, and enable international partnerships in the quantum domain.
Officials, including Sadashiva Prabhu, Managing Director of Karnataka Science and Technology Promotion Society (KSTePS), and Prof. Akshay Naik from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), who also serves as co-chair of the summit, were present during the meeting.
The Quantum India Bengaluru Summit is being viewed as a landmark event that places Karnataka at the forefront of India's quantum revolution while also signalling its global aspirations in deep-tech innovation.

SAP Labs India today announced the inauguration of its new state-of-the-art campus in Bengaluru, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to India as a strategic innovation powerhouse. With a total planned capacity of 15,000 professionals and a total investment of €194 million across all phases, the campus is one of SAP 's largest globally. Strategically located near the Bengaluru International Airport, SAP Labs India Innovation Park further solidifies India's critical role in SAP's global R&D and innovation ecosystem. A campus built for the future SAP Labs India's new Bengaluru campus features India's second SAP Experience Centre—an interactive space where customers can see enterprise solutions come to life in real-world scenarios. The campus is also home to an AI-powered, autonomous micro market developed in partnership with Compass Group. With a walk-in, walk-out setup and UPI-enabled payments, a seamless experience for employees while doubling as a live showcase of SAP's retail technology in action. The campus also integrates sustainability and accessibility across its design. It includes a 2.5-acre rainwater retention lake, solar-powered infrastructure, and smart waste management systems. More than 2,000 native trees contribute to a climate-conscious environment. Inclusive features such as tactile pathways, braille signage, ramps, auditory guidance, and gender-neutral restrooms ensure access for all. Spaces for wellness- sensory rooms, nap pods, lactation rooms, and a crèche make the campus a place where people can thrive. Strategic announcements To mark the occasion, SAP Labs India announced key academic partnerships: AI Career Accelerator Programme: As part of its continued commitment to digital skilling and inclusive growth, SAP announced an investment of EUR 100,000 to launch the AI Career Accelerator Programme in partnership with EduBridge. This will equip over 400 students from underserved communities with hands-on training for AI-enabled roles. With this investment, SAP deepens its mission to bridge India's skills gap and create career pathways for youth from all backgrounds. Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV): SAP will collaborate with GSV aiming to enhance academic and industry engagement through joint curriculum development, research, and professional collaboration activities. Indian Institute of Technology, Madras: In partnership with IIT Madras, SAP will work on AI-driven brain research using public data to predict health issues and recommend treatment options. Go beyond politics to work towards improving city's infrastructure, urges Ashwini Vaishnaw
Going beyond politics, Karnataka and the Union government should work together to improve Bengaluru's infrastructure, urged Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology. He was delivering a virtual keynote address at the opening of SAP Labs' largest campus in India at Devanahalli here on Tuesday. He said the Union government was committed to working with the State government, despite political differences, to improve the infrastructure condition of the city. Rail connectivity The Minister further said that the government was keen to improve the transportation facility within the city and outside the city. 'We are planning to double the rail connectivity within the city and to the city from outside in the next three years,' he said. Earlier, inaugurating SAP Labs India Innovation Park, on 41 acres of land at Devanahalli, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, 'Both Airport Metro line and suburban rail were being fast tracked to be ready by 2029. He said he was committed to balancing, decentralising, and sustainable growth beyond the core of Bengaluru.' He said that his government was happy to partner with SAP Labs in areas like digital governance, smart cities, skilling, and sustainability to empower MSMEs, and enhance government services in the State. The new SAP facility represented the global enterprise's deep trust in Karnataka's capability, the Chief Minister said. Since 1998, SAP Labs India, headquartered in Bengaluru, has grown to become SAP's largest R&D facility outside Germany. 'As we advance in clean energy, sustainable mobility, and eco-conscious growth, investments like this demonstrate how economic progress and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand,' Mr. Siddaramaiah said. On education and skill development, he said, with an ambitious ₹2,500-crore programme supported by the World Bank, his government was strengthening first-grade colleges, establishing a Centre of Excellence, and enhancing R&D capabilities to build a skilled, future-ready workforce aligned with the demands of advanced technologies.
