DJ Calvin Harris divides the internet with gory placenta pics after son's home birth
The couple welcomed their baby boy, Micah, on 20 July in Ibiza, Spain.
Earlier this week, Calvin (41) posted a carousel of images on Instagram showcasing the birth and the hours that followed.
The first photo shows Calvin sitting on an outdoor sofa, holding a naked newborn Micah against his chest, his eyes closed in a moment of calm.
Another captures a tender moment at the birthing pool, with Calvin leaning over to cradle his son seconds after delivery.
But it was the third image that caused the biggest stir: a close-up of his wife Vick's placenta, still attached to the umbilical cord, on a bloody sheet.
'20th of July our boy arrived. Micah is here! My wife is a superhero and I am in complete awe of her primal wisdom!' Calvin wrote in the caption. 'Just so grateful. We love you so much, Micah.'
The series went on to show the placenta cut into chunks in a food dehydrator, then encapsulated in pill form. Some mothers choose to consume the placenta this way postpartum for its supposed health benefits.
The post sparked mixed reactions online. Many praised Calvin and Vick (35) for offering such a raw and natural look at childbirth.
'Congratulations! Thank you for normalising home birth (and placentas!) with these beautiful pictures. What a dream,' one fan wrote.
Others applauded the lack of stigma: 'WOMEN asking for a trigger warning is just sad. That's all I gotta say. It's normal, y'all. Grow up. And congratulations to you and your beautiful wife and gorgeous baby!!'
But not everyone was ready for the graphic detail.
'Swiping: 'Oh wow! . . . That's amazing . . . Congratula . . . WHAT THE—?!'' one follower remarked.
Instagram has since placed an age restriction on the post due to its explicit birth imagery.
Placenta encapsulation is the practice of steaming, dehydrating, grinding and placing the placenta into capsules for the mother to ingest after birth. Other celeb moms including Kim Kardashian, her sister Kourtney Kardashian Barker and actress Mandy Moore have also chosen to go this route.
Advocates claim the pills can:
Boost energy
Balance postpartum hormones
Improve mood
Increase milk production
Restore depleted nutrients, particularly iron
However, medical experts remain unconvinced. Studies on the benefits of placenta consumption are limited, and organisations such as the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) caution that the practice may carry risks, including bacterial contamination.

Mariah Carey's 5-Word Response About Going to Space Goes Viral
Mariah Carey's 5-Word Response About Going to Space Goes Viral originally appeared on Parade. Mariah Carey had a hilarious 5-word response when asked if she would consider going to space like rival pop star Katy Perry. During an appearance on BBC Radio on Thursday, August 7, the singer was asked, "Would you fancy going to space? You know, like Katy Perry did?" Carey was unaware of Perry's Blue Origin space mission, which she completed alongside Gayle King and Lauren Sanchez, and responded, "Did she go to space?" The host informed her that Perry did indeed go to space, but "not for long" and that she "went into orbit and back." Though the "We Belong Together" singer was doubtful at first, the host reassured her that he wasn't making the story up. Carey called the feat "amazing." But what's going viral is Carey's on-brand reply to the host asking, "Would you do it?" "I think I've done enough." Carey quipped back. RELATED: Shortly after the clip started making rounds on social media, fans took to X to share their reactions to Carey's hilarious response. "best response to this question possible" wrote one fan. "Mimi has no business in space. Let's keep her safe and sound on Earth. We can hear her vocals just fine in here!" said another. "LOL. Well played, Mariah, well played." added a third. Many pointed out that Carey was smart to shut down the space question, as Perry's space flight was heavily criticized and mocked by social media users. Others joked she would make the trip around Christmastime, a nod to her smash hit "All I Want For Christmas is You." 🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 Mariah Carey's 5-Word Response About Going to Space Goes Viral first appeared on Parade on Aug 7, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Aug 7, 2025, where it first appeared. The Sandman's Finale Made Us Wish for a Death-Centric Spinoff: ‘We Did Play With Those Ideas,' EP Says
Never thought we'd say this, but wouldn't it have been nice to have more Death? The reaper herself is at the center of The Sandman's finale, an episode that chronicles the Endless sibling's one day off every century. She runs into a suicidal journalist named Sexton (played by Merlin's Colin Morgan) and they wind up spending the day together, even though he's not entirely sure that she's not insane. More from TVLine South Park Savages ICE and Kristi Noem, Sends Trump to Mar-a-Lago - Read Recap Wednesday's Stalker Is Revealed in Episode 2 - EPs Explain How the Show's Fandom Served as Inspiration Wednesday Gives Xavier a Mysterious Exit in Season 2 Premiere: 'We Have Seen the Last of Him,' EPs Confirm Events that transpire during their 24-hour hangout include: a trip to a club, a stint as hostages, a taxi ride through the park and the procurement of Mad Hettie's soul, which the old woman slipped into in a locket years before but misplaced along the way. Death — well, the human embodiment of her — dies at the end of the hour and returns to her realm. But she's achieved her goal: Sexton realizes that life is worth living, after all. We see him make a meaningful connection with a woman he met at the club. Death is such a fun and funny character in the often dark and heavy fantasy series, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste plays her with an engaging warmth. When I spoke with executive producer Allan Heinberg, I wondered: Was there ever talk about giving Death her own series/spinoff/volume? 'Always,' he said. 'When we were feeling very expansive in Season 1, we talked about a possible Death spinoff. We talked about Joanna Constantine. We talked about Boyd and The Corinthian, or pairing the Corinthian with Joanna Constantine. We were full of enthusiasm for being able to tell more stories with more of these characters.' However, while the comics on which The Sandman is based had the luxury of divergence, the TV series had to keep Tom Sturridge's Dream at its center. 'We learned in Season 1 that the Sandman show was very much about Dream. So we could only use other characters as they contributed to Dream's story. We couldn't stop his story to go and tell Johanna Constantine's story or a Corinthian story,' Heinberg explained. Acknowledging that his Netflix series would've needed 'staggering, Stranger Things success' to warrant spinoffs, 'we did play with those ideas,' Heinberg adds. 'They never really got anywhere, but it was more of a wish fulfillment… We were wanting more opportunities to keep everybody around.' What did think of 's swan song? Tudor boosts Juventus team rapport with special dinner
Juventus coach Igor Tudor has taken the entire squad out to dinner in a team-building exercise, including outcasts Douglas Luiz, Arthur Melo and Dusan Vlahovic. The Bianconeri are currently in a pre-season training camp in Germany, where they are set to play Borussia Dortmund on Sunday afternoon. During this experience, Tudor decided to treat his players by taking them all out for a group dinner event. Juventus outing builds unity ORLANDO, FLORIDA – JUNE 26: Dusan Vlahovic #9 of Juventus FC during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 group G match between Juventus FC and Manchester City FC at Camping World Stadium on June 26, 2025 in Orlando, Florida. (Photo by) They travelled to Nuremberg to an Asian fusion restaurant, which was seen by La Gazzetta dello Sport as an important team-building exercise to create greater unity within the group. They were also accompanied by CEO Maurizio Scanavino, director Francois Modesto and team manager Matteo Fabris. The report noted the presence of all the players, including those whose future at Juventus seems improbable. That means Douglas Luiz, Arthur Melo, Dusan Vlahovic, Nico Gonzalez and Tiago Djalò. Some of the players walking along to the restaurant were recognised by fans and asked for selfies, mainly young talent Kenan Yildiz.
